At least I'm pretty sure there's a .exe conflict issue here.
My explorer.exe does not start up when I restart the computer, then when I run it through the task manager it starts up for about three seconds then the desktop items and everything disappear again. I also never receive an error message with the explorer.exe crash. No "sorry, but the explorer.exe must close ect ect."

For the past 2 months my computer has been restarting itself while I am using it. It does this most frequently while i am playing a game or copying a CD. When it restarts, it dusplays a message saying "Windows has recovered from a serious error". So i send an error report and Micrsoft says they are unable to help me with it. The Error signature is:
BCCode:1000008e BCP1:C0000005 BCP2:8058F672 BCP3:F145AC60

When ever I start or restart my computer, this message box pops up and it says, Error loading C:sindowssystem32stlbdist.dll The specified module could not be found.I am running Windows XP Home. I upgraded from Windows ME. I know that that is not the cause. I just thought I would mention which OS I have. I think this showed up after I uninstalled Limewire, but I'm not sure.

So after having an extremely long battle with my computer repeatedly restarting and restarting and restarting I got the BLUE error screen. I copied down the errors on a piece of paper and they are: STOP: 0x0000008E (0x00000005, 0x0004210B, 0xB004EC8C, 0x00000000).
I tried google'ing these codes but wasn't able to figure out what they were trying to say. I'm not sure what to do at this point Some background information. For a while now everytime I turn on my computer it will continually restart at different intervals until all of a sudden it just sticks and stays on and at that point it will work for hours on hours. However the restarting issue occurs EVERY time I start the computer. It usually stops restarting itself and works fine after about 10 minutes.
I ran MemTest86+ and found no errors. I switched out my PSU with a more powerful one (though my cousin thinks that one may be bad as well) but I don't have any extras and don't have a power supply tester laying around... I'm not sure how to check if it is my OS or possibly my board... I also don't have any extra parts

After I used Fix-it Utlilies the program erased essential system folders. So now when I do check disk it reboots, flashes a blue screen real fast (so fast I can't even read it) then restarts the computer, restarts check disk, restarts the computer, and on & on. It won't stop doing this till I interrupt check disk at the start by hitting any key but then I end up with a black screen with instructions which include safe mode, safe mode with networking, start windows normally & last known configuration
I can't boot from an installation CD to do a "repair" since Windows was preinstalled in the drive so I have NO CD. Does system recovery work?, who knows, I'm a noob and have no idea how to use it. The only thing I've tried to fix it was 2 things : 1) use system restore which failed; 2) use run> sfc /scannow but this file checker is also broken and will barely start before it errors and stops. I don't know what else to do besides reformat

I badly need your support. Day before yesterday (01-Aug-06) night I upgraded the yahoo toolbar and used their norton anti spy to scan. Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.

This tweak allows for the removal of Internet Explorer from Windows XP. In order to do so you will need a system with a second operating system installed (i.e. Windows 98, Linux, etc). My system is dual-booted with Windows 98 Second Edition and Windows XP Home Edition. Both partitions must be formated with FAT32 for this tweak to work.
1. In order to remove Internet Explorer from Windows XP without the Windows File Protection kicking in and restoring the files I am trying to delete, I booted into Windows 98 by selecting Windows 98 from the boot menu.
2. Once Windows 98 was booted I used windows explorer to browse to the drive where I installed Windows XP. In my case I double click the E: drive in Windows explorer, then Program Files, then Internet Explorer.
3. Select all the files in the directory Internet Explorer and delete them.
4. Reboot the computer into Windows XP.
5. Internet Explorer will be gone. This tweak could also be performed using Linux or DOS. But not the version of DOS that comes with Windows XP. Do not remove Internet Explorer if any of the applications you use require it to run. Furthermore, you will no longer be able to use the Windows Update feature, but you can download the patches individually.

Just installed Windows XP, and I can't remove or hide the toolbar or the address bar from Explorer not Internet Explorer. When I click on View/Toolbars, both Standard Buttons and Address Bar are checked and disabled, meaning I can't un-check them. How can I un-check them? There must be some registry hack that they did to prevent us from hiding the toolbar. I'm not sure if this is related, but in Internet Explorer7, I can't seem to customize the toolbar? Again, when I right click on the toolbar, I select Customize Command Bar, and the Add or Remove Commands menu item is disabled.

internet explorer sometimes isn't listed in add/remove. Try going to add/remove windows components and unclicking internet explorer then click next then go back and reclick internet explorer and click next again. If it is listed in add/remove than just click the hange/repair button

When I turn the computer on as soon as the welcome screen comes up to sign in, a window pops up saying "The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM. Time before shutdown: [counts down from 1 min] Message: the system process 'C:WINDOWSsystem32services.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code -1073741482. The system will now shut down and restart."
I have tried system restore which is unsuccessful, I have done "last known good configuration" which also doesn't work. I'm in grad school and need my computer

the computer boots up and goes to the windows 2000 screen but then the next screen would be the desktop but instead it reboots and goes to the same spot the 2000 screen but never makes it to the desktop, this happens over and over. I tried to go into safe mode but does the same thing tried command prompt only so I could type in SCANREG but it just reboots again I can't get anywhere to do anything.
The last thing I tried was last known good configuration. I clicked on it and a page comes up with all the writing I hardly got a chance to read it when it reboot again. but under the first paragraph wher it says something about last know good configuration it has a space and the it says project 1 like I could have click on that if I would have been fast enough.

Internet Explorer keeps track of each URL that you type in the address bar as a convenience to save you from typing the next time that you visit that site. However, any user that uses your computer can find out what addresses you typed in as well so some may be interested in clearing the address bar addresses. Just clearing the browser history will not do this as a registry modification is needed

I keep getting this error message when I boot. The entire message says, "windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to close." When I close the box, i lose my desktop, and can't run a bunch of programs, including the "run" option. I am able to run my browsers and get on the web. I did do a system restore, and it worked at first, but then on the next reboot, i got the error message again. Did another system restore, same thing.

I have a legal copy of XP Pro and try to boot using the cd in the cd drive. it will run setup and load all the drivers and when it would normally start windows, i get the stop screen error. I have tried several boot disks with the same results. I tried Morphix (Linux) and a ERD with same results.
