I have a Lexmark 5150 all-in-one printer. I can't seem to save my settings.I go to quick print under Preferences and click Save Settings, and then enter that setting.It prints at that setting.But after the printing job is done and I have closed the program,I find that the next time I open the program and go to preferences,the Quality/Print setting has reverted to normal.I'd like it to stay at quick print until I change it.

I've got a e-series laptop running windows Xp Home 512 Ram. Lexmark inkjet 640. I can no longer print anything from the command of>{Toolbar} File>Print>OK or even by the printer Icon graphic on the browser toolbar but when I print Via Ctrl-P shortcut, it sometimes works.

First, everytime I start the computer the Color Quality goes from 32 bit to 16 bit for no apparent reason. Second, my cat walked on my keyboard and now everytime I start up the computer the Magnifier comes up. Neither of these things get in the way of using anything. They're just annoying and I can't figure out how to fix them.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to x64 version from 32 bit XP. But to my disappointment, the display properties only show up to 32 bit. Where is the 64 bit option? Here is the hardware I have: I had thought that while playing games, wherever there would be unmixed colors, they would now be mixed properly, like steam coming in dark areas in a game, or too many colors not fading into each other properly. But looks like I would need to do with the 32 bit only I guess.

This time switching off for 10 minutes and then back on had no effect.I have been trying most of today to correct things without success. I then copied it onto a floppy, put the floppy in my friends PC - same result as before
View 4 Replies View RelatedI previously owned a Lexmark Z25 printer and up to a certain point, it was printing ok. Then it abruptly stopped printing any pages. It sounded as if it was getting the signal from the computer, but nothing would print. Rather than buy new cartridges, which would have cost more than a new printer, I bought a Dell 720. Now, the color prints fine, but I cannot get the black to print. The cartridges are just about full with only a small amount out of the black cartridge.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHave rebuilt my desktop, new mobo, 160G HD, 1G Ram. Mobo is a fujitsu that is listed on the HCI, but needs external video card - using Geforce. Win XP-SP2 from Tiger/OEM version. Did the install/format Hd, install finishes, restarts and does a particial boot -- Win XP main screen comes on, then screen flashes over to a poor quality XP main screen, and halts. Restart in Safe Mode, boot starts but when main screen should appear, horiz. lines and blue text type symbols, as if Geforce video card not being functional.

Since reconnecting printer, the print icon button reverts to bringing up the print properties box as happens with going File - print. There is only one printer attached - it is shown in "Printers and Faxes" with a tick. There is nowhere to check it as the default printer as it is the only printer.How can I make the print icon button just do straight default prints again?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an old Sony VAIO (running Win Xp) that I am using a print server. The VAIO is connected to a HP PSC. The VAIO is on a wireless network along with two other laptops. One laptop is running Win Xp and the other is running Vista. Everything was working fine as far as printing went until I reinstalled the OS on the Win Xp machine (same OS). Previously the VAIO would go offline due to hibernation and so if I tried to print something from the Xp machine, it would get in the queue and get printed when I turned the VAIO on. Now the print jobs are not getting in a queue when the VAIO is offline.I don't know what I did right before and so I don't know how to remedy the problem.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI was playing Diablo 2 today and my Internet Explorer 6 icon on my desktop (icon available in desktop settings, not a shortcut) seems to have reverted to something from Internet Explorer 4 or earlier. I've tried re-applying the Windows XP theme (this worked for me on the original Diablo on my old PC when the start button did something similar) but no luck. I'm good at computing (e.g. I can edit the registry easily, follow instructions, I know quite a lot about XP) but I've never had a problem like this before. I'm gonna have to ask for help on this one.

I had a nasty virus attack and had to repair XP Pro. All else is repaired as far as I can tell, but this version of Search is not nearly as handy.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just finished a complete reinstall of Windows XP. Before the re-installation, I partitioned the hard drive. I want the basic Windows XP system files and drivers on my "C" drive and then I want to accumulate data files (word processing, spreadsheets, photos, music files, etc.) on the new partition which in this case has been labeled the "G" drive. The difficulty I am having is getting getting the "Documents and Settings" to move over to the "G" drive. So that when I want to load photographs from my camera to the computer it goes for C:Documents and SettingsMy NameMy DocumentsMy Pictures. Instead I would like it to go to G:Documents and SettingsMy NameMy DocumentsMy Pictures. Using Windows Explorer I changed the file name of "My Documents" to 'Windows XP old path My Documents" and then I was going to set up a new path to the "G" drive through Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Managment>Disk Management.
However I noticed that when I clicked on Start in the bottom left hand corner and it puts up that little window that "My Documents" which was listed now had the new title 'Windows XP old path My Documents' which I believe means I haven't gotten to the proper place to change the main configuration for Documents and Settings. Long way of saying how do I change the basic configuration for where Document and Settings are stored to a new location.
Printer wont print THE printer normally prints fine but now it wont print atall the usb cable is in and the printer wont take the paper it just sits there
CONTROL PANEL> PRINTERS> OPEN and it says its printing just fine but it isnt Its in the front usb hub and tried the rear it dont make any differnence. The printer is on and its got paper etc etc.
I turn on my pc and it boots as normal and goes to a screen where I have my users shown. Once I click on any of them it starts to sign on but straightaway changes to logging off and returns to the 3 profile screen.
I can get into my desktop if I go through safe mode though
We have a HP Pavilion dv1000 laptop on Windows XP Pro that is in a crashing cycle of doom and despair. In normal boot it flashes a blue screen of death, but only for a flicker of a second, so you can't read what it's saying. then it reverts to the black screen that allows you to access the safe boot. we've tried the safe boot (it works) and reverting to old configurations, but we can't get the normal boot to work again.

View 14 Replies View RelatedHadn't been on the computer for a couple of days, when I did I saw that Norton had found 2 high risk viruses (I don't recall what they were). I selected to fix both of them and it seemed to work. I also noticed that I had about 10 My Computer folders open. It then told me to reboot the computer, which I did. When the computer restarted, it seemed to power up OK, it then said starting Windows, and it went to the log-in screen. (I have two log-ins, one for me and one for my wife). When I click on either one of the two log-ins, it automatically says saving settings and logging off, and then it goes right back to the two log-in selections. I have tried to log-in in Safe Mode, and every other option available to me, and I get the same outcome. I tried the Recovery Disk that came with the computer, and it would not boot from the CD drive, even when I changed the settings to boot from the CD Drive. It tried to star once and I hit R for a Standard Recovery and it seemed to start, then I got a BOOT: Memory overflow error��..Please insert another disk and it just locked up. I rebooted and I could not get back to the recovery menu. It just sits there with a black screen with a blinking cursor and then I get the following error. �Disk Boot Failure, insert system disk and press enter�. And it does the same thing now every time I try it. Is there a way I can just get to normal DOS to try and recover my files?

What I can do is just press the power button 5 sec to shutdown. But that problem didn't happen every time. I met this error in a lot of computers. I think it's not a hardware problem.

Let me know if you need any other specs.i tried using a different mouse initially but didnt help.I've reseated the hardware, checked all connections.I cannot even load into safe mode.I get the option, choose it, and it begins loading all those necessary drivers and then just stops at some driver (I cannot remember which one.I am at the library writing this).It always does this.I tried using last good config,nothing.When starting Windows normally, it just hangs at the loading screen with the little moving bar.I re-installed windows (I have two drives; I reinstalled over Windows on the drive that had windows); ive tried repairing Windows; I then formatted the drive with Windows and tried a clean install and it hangs at the same point.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have Window XP Home with SP2.I have swapped to a new hard drive (not done this before)Old drive was 80g Sata and new drive is WD 500g Sata.I formatted new drive and set as addition storge as it was in D. Then I coppied C onto D using WD lifeguard tools.I removed C and swapped leads for PC to read previous D as C and the drive to boot from.Now on boot the PC as to select Windows Defalt on a black screen. Selecting this activates Windows and all seems to work ok.How do I get back to normal startup. I still have original C drive to go back to if needed.I tried adding line in boot ini so that it would start on windows and all that did was to give me 2nd option for Windows XP and when I selected that it said a file was missing.
