In my browsers history there are porn pages.I know I did not look at these.could these have been put there by a "browser hijacker"? Please help, it's of the up most importance to me. I right clicked on properties and it broght up no date and time.

Now, when we enter certain first letters in the address line, the names of several of those sites show up even though he (and we) have gone to "Tools" and "Cleared History." They are not ... as far as we can tell ... in our "Favorites", so how do we get rid of these references? They're mighty embarrassing.

I know it isn't me and the program hasn't been used/opened for weeks.Googled around and found this is not uncommon but cannot find any real answers as to how to stop this. I would preface this with the fact I am not proficient with computers as so many programs assume one is and I am 76 years old, a retired educator with advanced work, but at this point I am exasperated to say the least.
I had my computer on working when suddenly things went sorta crazy giving me the impression what I was attempting to get off my computer was an invasion of hard core porn, a virus, and a security program I had never heard of. My screen went black and could not be rebooted at all. I came to this spot, got a little advice, but it did not solve my problem. I found a program I thought would help, paid for the extras, but found it was not as indicated. It said it had help 24/7 (not) and expects one to know computers to use it. It says they have a "WE fix it for you" portion. How that works I have not figured out yet. The phone numbers given are not for service but are for some group this program is published thru I think. After a lot of By guess and By gosh I did manage to get to a home page that showed icons that gave me the interpretation of their pictures and names were as I suspected exactly. I finally got the program for security to desist. The screen disappeared to precipitate my efforts to use the PowerSuite 2010 (their help is by internet), CA Suite 2008 which I had paid to update to current time, My XP disc that wanted to doubt I owned and requested I put Windows 98 in to prove it and then it was on a merry-go-round asking me to insert the previous disc in whichever one it was. It has said XP was not right I am sure because the computer came with Windows XP Media which I had updated
Don't know where to post it so i will post it here anyways. I want to block particular words like games, porn etc in any search engine so people don't mess around with my pc. Is this possible if so how?

This is my office computer and lately, I had been notice strange noises, and like something is starting (?) This morning the PC cannot find my DVD drive, I used the "restored" function, and it founded.
Need some help to make sure I don't have "something" that it's not supposed to be there.
Is there any way to have a default Browser? I want every program that has links to open up in say. Firefox, I have tried setting it as my default browser in the settings option, and in "Set programs access and defaults". It works quite well... But can I get MSN Messenger to open up in that browser? When I click on my e-mails or MSN Space Etc. It opens up in Internet Explorer. Is there ANY way to open it in my default browser?

When I open Internet Explorer, my home page (www.google.com) opens.When it is finished loading, it automatically redirets to yahoo mail login page. The catch is, all my browsers windows that are open will be changed too. If I hit "stop" before the page is loaded, then hit "refresh", this action does not occur. I have Microsoft updates automatically downloade do my computer. I have the latest MacAfee anti-virus on my computer and have run the latest scan. I have run Microsoft beta spy-ware, ad aware and yahoo's version. I am not seeing anything.

If I do not delete IE7's history, Run history stays at reboot.I have searched quite a bit for a solution but just can't find any working solution and why my XP is doing this.I have another computer with XP Pro SP3 also and it doesn't behave in that manner at all.I have tried the solution HERE to no avail. I have Tweak UI and the option Clear document history on exit in the Explorer section is unchecked.I'm also not running any Cache Cleaner of any sort.

Then I get an error message asking if I want to send the error to Microsoft. I have tried to click �send� and the whole PC freezes until I hit control-alt-delete and hit end task.
