I have Windows XP, SP2, and I was wondering how do I check where my teenage son has been surfing????? I've checked Temp files and I just see a bunch of numbers. I would like to see something that looks like different web sites or a list of cookies that give me a name.
Ever since I did a factory reinstall 3 months ago, every time I close my machine down and restart, my Windows Explorer settings keep getting reverted back to ICON view instead of my saved DETAIL view.I'm using the button under tools and folder options, View Tab, and Apply to all Folders. Is there something else I'm missing?
When I click on the Windows Explorer icon, it opens up with the left side being the blue bar with File and Folder Tasks, Other Places and Details showing. I have to manually click on the Folders button at the top to get the view I want. Is there a way to make this Folders view be the default view when I open Windows Explorer?
Whenever I save a picture from IE 6.0, the "Save Piccture" window always opens in a thumbnail view of "My Pictures". Is there any way I can make it open in the list view instead?
I run all of my anti-spyware/malware programs, disc defrag, chkdsk every week. I then create a restore point.Today, for the first time ever, I needed to restore my computer to a previous date because my XP view changed to Classic view and the option to change it back to XP view wasn't available. But the restore points that I saved were not available. I was given a choice of July 1,2,3,4 and 5. The last time I created a restore point was last Monday, June 27th,but when I clicked on the << arrow to go back to the month of June, it wouldn't go back. What happened to the restore points that I created and why couldn't I access them?I know that they were saved because I received a message that they were created. And I have no idea why my XP view changed to Classic View when I turned my computer on yesterday.
A folder full of PSD files. I have the folder on thumbnail view so I can easily find a look I wan't and choose it instead of opening up each one. The problem is that the folder is not generating a preview of the file anymore but instead shows the PSD icon. I just got a new computer and it is since then that this has stared, as on my old computer the previews showed up fine. Is this a setting I need to change somewhere?
Get rid of that history. There is no good that can come of it. It will only take up space and allows any cleaver person to find out exactly what web sites you have visited.
How do I set the history on my PC to keep more then 1 day to view? I used to be able to select a number of days but not anymore? I currently use Internet Explorer 8 and have Windows XP. When I click on History and View by Date it still doesn't give me the option to keep anymore then the current day.
I have been doing some searches for files on my machine running windows XP and I'd like to delete the history of those searches... is there a way to do this? I'm NOT computer literate.
I have an odd issue where every time I delete my Internet Explorer 7 browser history, my Run box history is also deleted at reboot. If I do not delete IE7's history, Run history stays at reboot.I have searched quite a bit for a solution but just can't find any working solution and why my XP is doing this.I have another computer with XP Pro SP3 also and it doesn't behave in that manner at all.I have tried the solution HERE to no avail. I have Tweak UI and the option Clear document history on exit in the Explorer section is unchecked.I'm also not running any Cache Cleaner of any sort.
All of a sudden the search history from google search bar has disappeared. Normally the earlier search pages showed a drop down menu. The Address bar however works normal.
I used to be able to click on the arrow to the right of my browser bar to see previous web search history. I can't do this any longer, clicking on the arrow has no response.
Ok I think a family member has been logging onto my PC without my permission. I have put password access into my PC but I think they have somehow gotten around it. So I changed my password BUT is there any software that can tell me what date and time someone logged onto my system?
In my browsers history there are porn pages.I know I did not look at these.could these have been put there by a "browser hijacker"? Please help, it's of the up most importance to me. I right clicked on properties and it broght up no date and time.
my IE6 browser did not show any history items at all. for every day it just shows:Day/My Computer and nothing else. i think it may be because i Had McAfee security center when i got the pc first. however, i have long since uninstalled this programme and now, after looking at many of the solutions on this site, they seem to be geared at those still using the programme. i did find some article on another site that had a good link to tips on how to restore history but after following the 1st step (see below) i had to close all browser windows and cant find the site again! (ironically if history worked i wouldn't have this problem!!) what i did get done was to make a regedit change. i went to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/MAIN there, i was told to change the value of Save_Session_History from "no" to "yes". this did happen to have an effect. now the history file ("Day"/My Computer /...) does have url details but they are not usable (an error appears if you click on them).
I am cleaning out my computer and trying to deleet lots of junk. The only thing i cant clear out is the stupid giant, long list of serch results i have typed in the yahoo search bar.I ran ace utilities and stuff like that to clean out history, and other junk, but i cant get rid of all the diff things ive typed in the yahoo search bar.I've went under internet options on the menu up to top.Cleared my cookies, history, tempory internet folder but it wont go away.
I am running XP Home. When I go to windows explorer every thing works OK with the exception of when I click on the history folder. Then I get an error message asking if I want to send the error to Microsoft. I have tried to click send and the whole PC freezes until I hit control-alt-delete and hit end task. I have run anti virus and spyware with no negative results.
I use the Firefox browser, but from time to time I have to use Explorer's. As of late I've found that every time I use Explorer my address bars history has been cleared.
when i type in the google box or any box a history a list drops down of eveything ever typed in how do i delete these and stop it remembering everything
is there a way i can look up what sites i've been to online within the last few days? i saw a video on Internet that i flagged and i want to be sure it gets deleted - actually, it needs something more than just being pulled from Internet, it needs police involvement. i think. i'm so worried about what i saw that i've been up all night trying to retrace my steps, no luck. i can't remember what search i used that led me to the video so i have to rely on something on my computer that'll get me back there.
There is a saved history for when I type things in searches, like Google or eBay. So every time I type something new it brings up a drop down menu of past things I have typed that start with the same letters. I want to remove this or shut off this feature.
I lost power this morning. I rebooted and everything was fine all day. Then after being off the computer for an hour or so (but my brother was on), it went nuts! Many things went back to the way they were 3 or 4 weeks ago: I've lost several away messages on AIM and some old ones are suddenly back. My little drop-down history bar thing on IE has URLS i haven't gone to in a few weeks and doesn't have ones I was at today. I'm missing a few programs I recently downloaded. (Like AdAware and yahtzee.) But my wallpaper, favorites, emails and most other files are as they should be.
