Computer Reset - History Bar Thing On IE?
Mar 2, 2005I lost power this morning. I rebooted and everything was fine all day. Then after being off the computer for an hour or so (but my brother was on), it went nuts! Many things went back to the way they were 3 or 4 weeks ago: I've lost several away messages on AIM and some old ones are suddenly back. My little drop-down history bar thing on IE has URLS i haven't gone to in a few weeks and doesn't have ones I was at today. I'm missing a few programs I recently downloaded. (Like AdAware and yahtzee.) But my wallpaper, favorites, emails and most other files are as they should be.

Jan 19, 2005My computer recently started randomly having this window come up. I took a couple of print screens.There is also one to do with System32. I don't know what it means and why it's popping up! My computer has been running very slow since this has started to happen, and my virus scanner comes up clean. My internet connection also randomly drops.

Apr 10, 2010Outlook Express folder list and Contacts list are not showing. I've walked her through the process of clicking on View at the top of the Outlook Express Interface and setting the Layout items so that her Contacts and Folder list should be on the screen, but they are not. I've tried everything I can think of to rectify the situation and I've run out of options. The way it is without her folders list she cannot access her deleted folder and her sent folder and cannot delete anything from those folders. Is there anything else I can do to bring up those her contacts list and her folders list?

Jul 3, 2005I bought speakers and cannot hear a thing. I get this error mesage that says there are no active mixer devices available and then i got another one that said no audio devices currently installed on your machine. I did all the steps in the support/help area but nothing works. ALso, when I try to adjust the volume the area is light gray and you cannot click on it to adjust.

Jun 24, 2005I just got my SP2 CD in the mail today from Microsoft. I put the CD in, and it runs through the steps, and then it asks to reboot, I click okay. The computer will reboot to the second black screen, then then it will have the XP logo and under it: "Please wait...", and i let my computer sit like that for about 2 hours, and nothing happened. So I manually shut the computer off, when in, and unstalled it, and then put the disk back in and when through the wizard. The same exact thing happened, and I waited 2 hours and nothing happens, so I had to manually reboot.

Mar 29, 2007Had a problem about a month ago with some things on here so i formatted the hdd and installed winxp pro. Was going ok for about a week then the error messages were non stop. Kept saying windows had to shut down because of a hardware problem, yet never did find out what it was. Anyways i did a total format and am trying to instal winxp again. I have a win98se boot disk. It gets half way through the installation then i get all kinds of error messages about files couldn't be loaded or files not found. Don't these files come from the cd?? it is a original cd that i have. some of the msg are: file i386halacpi.dll not found, syntax error in the .sif file and the list goes on then it says setup cannot continue.

Today when she was typing a paper for school it got stuck on all caps, then it just quit working all together. I took the keyboard and put it on my computer and it works fine. My keyboard doesn't work on her computer either. I restarted which didn't help. I also retored the computer to yesterday's back up. That didn't work either. This computer does have some age on it but I was hoping to get it to last her until she gets that college laptop.
