View 1 RepliesToday I got a virus that kept trying to sell me things that my pop-up blocker seemed unable to block when I went from page to page, the Internet Explorer said I might have a virus and asked if I wanted a free scan to eliminate this virus. I didn't do anything but restart my computer and clear my internet temp files, cookies and history, then I did a System Restore and when I was done with the restore all my saved game files were as they were before I restored my computer. So did System Restore actually restore my computer. The last time I restored my computer I lost some saved games, but this time I didn't. Why?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP, SP2, and I was wondering how do I check where my teenage son has been surfing????? I've checked Temp files and I just see a bunch of numbers. I would like to see something that looks like different web sites or a list of cookies that give me a name.
Using XP Pro SP2.Windows explorer doesn't show c:documents and settings/jdl/cookies folder when opened from the start->programs menu. However, Start->Run with c:documents and settingsjdlcookies typed in opens the folder. Folder options->View has the "Show hidden folders" option checked.I do not have the windows xp disk since the program was loaded from a corporate server several years ago. I no longer work for that company.Any assistance would be appreciated. Not a big deal since I can access the folder. It may, however, indicate that other problems are afoot. I discovered this when Counterspy Ver. 2 Beta identified the cookie from CNET Networks, Inc., and I couldn't find it in Windows Explorer.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI run all of my anti-spyware/malware programs, disc defrag, chkdsk every week. I then create a restore point.Today, for the first time ever, I needed to restore my computer to a previous date because my XP view changed to Classic view and the option to change it back to XP view wasn't available. But the restore points that I saved were not available. I was given a choice of July 1,2,3,4 and 5. The last time I created a restore point was last Monday, June 27th,but when I clicked on the << arrow to go back to the month of June, it wouldn't go back. What happened to the restore points that I created and why couldn't I access them?I know that they were saved because I received a message that they were created. And I have no idea why my XP view changed to Classic View when I turned my computer on yesterday.

The problem is that the folder is not generating a preview of the file anymore but instead shows the PSD icon. I just got a new computer and it is since then that this has stared, as on my old computer the previews showed up fine. Is this a setting I need to change somewhere?

had a good link to tips on how to restore history but after following the 1st step (see below) i had to close all browser windows and cant find the site again! (ironically if history worked i wouldn't have this problem!!) what i did get done was to make a regedit change. i went to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/MICROSOFT/INTERNET EXPLORER/MAIN
there, i was told to change the value of Save_Session_History from "no" to "yes". this did happen to have an effect. now the history file ("Day"/My Computer /...) does have url details but they are not usable (an error appears if you click on them).
