I have been receiving emails from my contacts saying they are getting links to porn sites from my computer as 'instant messages'. I know it isn't me and the program hasn't been used/opened for weeks.Googled around and found this is not uncommon but cannot find any real answers as to how to stop this. Maybe this has been brought up here before but didn't find what I was looking for.

Now I have a new problem...I can't click on my desktop icon to start Windows Live Messenger. I can't even right click-->Open the program. The icon appears on my task bar, as if it was running, but I know it is not. I've of late had this same problem with other programs, so I know it's not just Windows Messenger. Does anyone have any suggestions?

She is trying to use Win Live Messenger.When she tries to open the messenger, even without the camera on, her system slows down or completely stops. Is Win Live Messenger compatible with XP? Is the old Intel cs630 web cam compatible (even with the drivers for XP)? It does tell her to have service pack 2 or above and she has service pack 3 installed.

I have installed windows live messenger from the free download (the one with the picture of the two women chatting) 8.0..8.1? I also installed sweetim extra 'winks'etc. My problem is when i go to open 'messenger' i get an error message that reads'live messenger temporarily unavailable , try again later error code 810003od'.

I tried to reinstall-would not without uninstalling present version.....tried to update but said the version I had was newer than the one I was trying to install (not!)-try uninstalling and reinstall. Will not uninstall on this computer (Dell Dimension E520). I have tried add and remove programs, brute force, and creating a new administrator account.

I can get into hotmail with this ID and can also log into the web messenger with this id. I have been also able to log into windows live on other computers with this ID. It just wont let me in on this one computer! The error id is 81000306. Most repair suggestions assume that NO logins can occur. I've tried so many and still no success. (have even uninstalled and reinstalled, deleted folders and still no luck
View 2 Replies View Relatedi have MSN (Windows Live Messenger Plus) and sometimes it doesn't work. i type in my username and password then it logs in. but it doesn't do anything. and then i have to close it with the task manager otherwise i can't do anything on my computer at all. can anyone help me with this? 2: my rightclick doesn't work. i don't think it's the mouse cause i'm very good in reparing mouses. sometimes my computer restarts when i'm in the middle of something, without me actually clicking restart.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows XP on a HP Pavilion ze2000.I think I have a problem with Windows Live Messenger. Actually, I think I have several problems:
1. Messenger tries to load in my tray when I start the computer. It never did this before. It also does the same when I connect to my broadband via dialler. At the moment I am denying access through Zone Alarm. Is this normal?
2. In All Programmes I have a Windows Messenger Icon and a Windows Live Messenger Icon. Again, is this normal? There is only an option to remove Live Messenger in Add or Remove Programmes.
3. There is a "1 contact pending" message above the contact list in my Live Messenger, which leads to a "page not available" message when I click on it.
3. When I close Live Messenger, I get multiple "RPC Server Not Available" warnings which I keep closing but keep reappearing. They appear too fast for me to close them, so I have to restart my machine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am unable to open links and attached windows when I need to move to another part of a page or window. When I click on a section or link to open, the window pop ups but it is blank and there is no activity on the window to show that it is attempting to open; and it just sits there. Somtimes, the STOP and REFRESH button shows up on the top of the page and I can click "STOP", then "REFRESH" and this allows the page to open but alot of times these features are not available and I just have to close the window and am unable to gain access to the information or page I am attempting to see.
I have enabled cookies, I do not have a pop-up blocker activated and no firewall so I cannot understand why certain windows open and certain ones won't. This problem occurs at random, there is no particular site or anything when this happens.
I use Windows Media Player 10 as my primary media player. But I like to keep Real Player and QuickTime quietly waiting in the wings and call upon them occasionally. Well, I got the latest version of the Real player and clipped its wings so it wouldn't take over every audio and video file i have. Then downloaded the latest QuickTime player (after uninstalling the old one.) Every time an attempt is made to install the QuickTime player after 11 or so seconds into the process it stops and gives me this little message: "1607: Unable to install Installshield Scripting Runtime."

My compuer 'appearance' is stuck in 'Classic Windows' and my Sound Blaster Live isn't working (I have no sound now). This is just what i've noticed, so far. I've tried many times to boot back into normal mode, using various methods, and while everything seems to be working as they normally do (with the exception of sound), the 'Classic Windows' appearance remains the same. I've also reinstalled my SB Live several times, yet it still won't come on when I boot my computer, it just offers a diagnostic test which I fail, It asks me to reinstall, yet it does the same thing

I would preface this with the fact I am not proficient with computers as so many programs assume one is and I am 76 years old, a retired educator with advanced work, but at this point I am exasperated to say the least.
I had my computer on working when suddenly things went sorta crazy giving me the impression what I was attempting to get off my computer was an invasion of hard core porn, a virus, and a security program I had never heard of. My screen went black and could not be rebooted at all. I came to this spot, got a little advice, but it did not solve my problem. I found a program I thought would help, paid for the extras, but found it was not as indicated. It said it had help 24/7 (not) and expects one to know computers to use it. It says they have a "WE fix it for you" portion. How that works I have not figured out yet. The phone numbers given are not for service but are for some group this program is published thru I think. After a lot of By guess and By gosh I did manage to get to a home page that showed icons that gave me the interpretation of their pictures and names were as I suspected exactly. I finally got the program for security to desist. The screen disappeared to precipitate my efforts to use the PowerSuite 2010 (their help is by internet), CA Suite 2008 which I had paid to update to current time, My XP disc that wanted to doubt I owned and requested I put Windows 98 in to prove it and then it was on a merry-go-round asking me to insert the previous disc in whichever one it was. It has said XP was not right I am sure because the computer came with Windows XP Media which I had updated
