PST Import / Get The PST File From Office 2003 To Import
Feb 24, 2007
I thought that I would try Office XP Professional which I have. I also have Office 2003 Professional with which I have backed up the PST file in Outlook and uninstall the whole thing because I wanted to play with Office XP. So I install the XP version with all the toys, open Outlook and proceed to import the PST file and low and behold the PST file from 2003 is not compatible! Not a big deal, I can go back BUT! I would real like to get this to work. I also Downloaded SP3 for Office XP thinking that it would help but no… I also have Incredimail which has my address book and emails from Outlook 2003 so I created a CSV file and tried to import it but it couldn’t import it saying that it came from an unrecognizable source! I don’t get that… Can I get the PST file from Office 2003 to import?

I intalled Stripe RAID array with (2) WD 74GB Raptors which show up as C. I have a 200GB SATA HDD that was used as backup HDD in same system with previous PATA RAID array. With first XP PRO install I was able to import foreign disk with no problems and data on 200Gb was intact when I connected 200GB drive after updating XP. Because of driver problems on installation, I had to reinstall XP PRO and this time had all drives connected throughout installation. XP saw RAID and 200Gb and i installed XP on RAID array. When I try to import foreign dynamic disk this time it gives me an error," The operation did not complete. Check system log." Log : Error source is LDM. I checked and all sevices are running. 200Gb HDD is in BIOS and in device manager.

I keep my OS and data on separate drives, so all of my emails are still there, my account settings and address book should be as well. Importing everything into the new install of Firefox was a piece of cake. Everything, even the last sites I had open, imported without any issues. Outlook Express is proving more ... annoying. Microsoft's support site explains how to create new profiles, switch between those new profiles... none of which I need to do. I need to import my old Identity, from my data drive, into Outlook Express 6. I don't mean import the messages (there's not even room for them on the new partition), I just need to link the existing identity on the data drive to the new XP / Outlook Express installation.
I intend to import express emails to outlook. what will i loose if anything, i have heard that i may loose the dates that the emails arrived in outlook, is this correct. i am transferring as i prefer to us outlook for the 'contacts' information which express does not have or does it?
I uninstalled Office 2003 because I was having problems with Outlook. When I try to reinstall I get the message "The System Adminsitrator has set polcies to prevent this installation" I am running XP Professional and am the only user on this home computer. It is not on a network. I know this is an old problem, as I looked it up on Google. I did try to fix it by going to the local security policy and changing settings. This did not work. I am not familiar with "registries" and am hesitant to try anything in that area.

I have my XP Pro set up to alert me when there's updates so I can pick and choose the ones NOT to install, like IE7 for example! Anyhow, I let it download "junk email filter KB925254' and "update for office 2003, KB919029' both of which fail on the install with no explanation other than "Updates were unable to be successfully installed". I shut down that window and I immediately get the notification updates are ready to be dowloaded, tried shutting down my firewall which made no difference.

So my question is, how do I get this option for deleting these files out of disk cleanup so it doesn't check these files every time I open the program.

I do all my document scanning in M$ Office. It scans documents as a .tif file which open with M$ Office Document imaging. However, every few weeks, the .tif file extension disappears from folder options/ file types, my scans have a generic icon and open with Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, which I don't like. I have to enter a new file type with a .tif extension to get my scans to open again in Document Imaging.

I have Windows Server 2003 on my laptop and would like to 'downgrade' it with Windows XP Professional. The CD-ROM (XP OS nstallation) does not allow my to INSTALL XP (cannot select the on) maybe because downgrades are not allowed. I also tried to reformat my hard-disk and install XP from scratch. A few of our DNS servers are reporting Event ID 3000 periodically. Full logging is on. There are no failure entries prior to the event. I can not find much on TechNet either. I see that this is a problem for others in other forums, but I could not find a resolution on any site. Anyone have a cause and resolution? Details of the error entry:
The DNS server has encountered numerous run-time events. To determine the initial cause of these run-time events, examine the DNS server event log entries that precede this event. To prevent the DNS server from filling the event log too quickly, subsequent events with Event IDs higher than 3000 will be suppressed until events are no longer being generated at a high rate.
