There seems to be a problem with the My Pictures folder located in My Documents. whenever i open it,a windows explorer popup screen says there's an error with explorer..."Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." My Pictures cannot also be used with any other application,eg.setting up Avatars or when creating a DVD title menu(as in using a background display picture). Since I use ZoneAlarm whenever i open the my pictures folder a program alert appears saying windows explorer is trying to communicate with vsmon.exe...on clicking deny the explorer error pops up. I tried copying the pictures in the folder to an empty hard drive partition but instead the hard drive partition stopped working...i.e. the same explorer error popped up,making the partition inaccessible.
I then had to format the partition.
When I try to access some folders in my directory I get the following error.Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.I feel like the old blue screen of death would have been easier to fix.Anyone have any suggestions? I read somewhere that this can have something to do with windows explorer 6 but I can't find this in my control panel to remove.I do have service pack 2 installed if that makes any difference.

Whenever I try to open a folder on my desktop, I get the below error message. I have a feeling it has to do with windows explorer not working. I have Norton Antivirus, Spy sweeper (could this be the problem?), and SP2.
Get an Internet Explorer Script Error when I open Outlook Express. It reads: An error has occurred in the script on this page. Line 229, Char 1, Error: Object doesn't support this property or method. Code:0.
I'm running WinXP/SP2. All of a sudden, every time I try to open a JPG file all I get is a notepad with gobbledegook. What has happened, and how do I fix it? I can open any other type of photo or video with no problems.
The settings in my folder options have been changed. If i left click any file it comes up wth access denied.. However if i right click and go to open then the file will open. The problem was caused by going Tools>folder options> file types.... file folder and folder have been changed on the advanced button..also AudioCD file has been changed.
I'd like to delete My Pictures and My Music folders within My Documents. Though whenever I do, the My Pictures and My Music icons on the Start Menu will not open.
It's redundancy not to my liking to have My Pictures and My Music folders within My Documents folder, and to have My Pictures and My Music icons on the Start Menu; which lead to the same folders.
Is there a way to delete My Pictures and My Music folders within My Documents folder, while still retaining their Start Menu functionality?
At startup Windows XP always suggested to run disk check and after I let it the whole partirion(most of it) is unreadable. The files are there but they are simply unreadable. For instance, I cannot open pictures or open MP3s. Like the content of the files has been messes up
Not to sure whats going on and I donot know how to correct this, but all of my documents in Explorer show up under Music-DVD-Media Programs as well as under C:/Documents & Settings/Jeanine Rediger/My Documents.I am submitting a picture of the screens under Explorer, It looks like to me that the Music-DVD-Media Program is a shortcut to My Documents, thats not right is it? Sorry, I just don't know alot about computers, I think what I have to do is delete the shortcut
I installed Adobe Acrobat about 2-3 weeks ago as part of a CreativeSuite package. I have yet to use it. However, just last night, when I tried to open a folder full of pictures on my desktop, for some reason, it attempted to install Adobe Acrobat. I cancelled the installation (acrobat was already installed) and the folder opened. I've tried some experiments now and it seems like every time I try to open a REGULAR FOLDER or a COMPRESSED FOLDER (ARCHIVE) ... ON MY DESKTOP ONLY, my computer attempts to install adobe acrobat. When I hit cancel the folder finally opens. I haven't waited to see what would happen if I let the computer install it cause I just spent hours cleaning my hard drive so my windows installation is sparkling and I don't want to mess that up w/ 2 copies of acrobat.
I recently had a problem on my computer where Internet explorer was not working and would'nt open, and no windows based functions that used the explorer interface would work... So i downloaded the IE7 install package on my other computer and burned to disk to install. everything was going along fine, and when prompted to restart to finsih the installation i did so..... that is when "it" hit the fan.
Hard drive crash, transplanted HD to new computer which now has 2 hard drives, C & D. Problem is I cannot open Windows Explorer from desktop or any other location, from either drive. I get a message that says it "generates errors." And that it is keeping a log, presumably for use on some Day of Judgment. (I get around it for now by right-clicking My Computer and picking Explore from the pop-up menu.)I have gone to the usual download sites in search of WE, no dice.
Within my, "My Pictures" folder I have a great many sub folders containing thousands of pictures. In all but a couple of folders is the option to view as a filmstrip (which I prefer). However there is a folder (within "My Pictures") that I'm using now that doesn't have that option!Does anyone know why, not all folders in "MY PICTURES", has the option for filmstrip?

I've been having a problem since upgrading to XP a few months ago. About 75% of the times that I open up "my pictures" in "my documents" (where I store lots of my digital photos) I get the error message where it asks you if you want to send an error report. Whether I choose to or not, or even if I simply shut the message, "my pictures" closes and I therefore cannot access the folder. The other 25% of the time it opens fine.As I say, it's just photos and short videos stored in here, all taken by my own digital camera. Virus and other problem checkers haven't detected anything, and there's no reason to suspect these files are infected with anything.
ok, my problem is with Win.Movie Maker, I'm trying to create a movie with pictures and music etc, I can't get past 6 or 7 pic's before an error window pops up telling me that they have encountered a problem and have to shut down. Now, I can't get past the 6 pic's selected - it shuts me down on the onset
I want to put the pictures that I saved from the My Pictures folder back to the My Pictures folder. I have set one of them as the new desktop background. (It was before the format).I have typed in "Export Pictures from CD to My Pictures folder" without the quotes and I get a list of links pertaining to CD recording errors and other things like that. I did right click on a picture in Drive E (my CD-RW) just to see what would come up and I noticed that on the Send To menu that these pictures can be sent to the desktop.
I have alot of problems with my computer i have alot of pop ups coming up...when i click to get into my computer or into pictures my documents it won't open it just clears everything...when i am on the internet i get redirected to pages that have nothing to do with what i tried to open. i also have a smss.exe opening everytime i turn on the computer and also services.exe
I need to know how to save the pictures in the My Pictures folder to CD. I am going to format and reinstall XP Home and if I do, I will lose these pictures unless I save them.
I have taken a series of pictures on different days and downloaded them into a folder in My Pictures. I need to put them in a sequence so I right clicked each picture and re-named it as follows: 001jpg, 002jpg and so on for 100 pictures. In view, I selected arrange icons by modified and all the pictures moved to the sequence I wanted. All is well and good until I copied the folder to a CD. All the pictures reverted to their original sequence instead of the sequence I put them in.
How can I copy the folder with the pictures in the sequence I put them in? Whenever I open the picture file to look at that folder, they are always in the sequnce I put them in
I badly need your support. Day before yesterday (01-Aug-06) night I upgraded the yahoo toolbar and used their norton anti spy to scan. Then I shut down the system and started to work the next day. Every thing is perfectly ok except for one thing. In Windows Explorer, on any folder or drive if I double click or open I get a crash. If I do explore then there is no problem.
I am running windows 2000,and I can not open internet explorer 6. I do not have firefox to use, however i am connected to the internet because my antivirus is updated daily., and was able to get emails through outlook express.

I'm running Windows Xp x64 edition and just today, when I tried to open my Internet Explorer 32-bit edition, nothing would happen. When I clicked on my Internet Explorer 32-bit icon on the desktop I would get an hourglass symbol next to my mouse cursor for not even a second and then nothing. My Internet Explorer 64-bit edition and my Firefox work just fine, but I would really like to use my 32-bit edition because all my favorite sites are stored in there.
When I click on the IE ICON it will act like it will open but then nothing.I removed WIN XP SP3.I tried to to restore to an earlier time (useless as usual).I installed Firefox and have had no problems getting a great connection
