No Disk Found In FastBuild Utility

I am having some problems with a Asus A7V266-E. It recently had a new hard drive put in and after that it froze and whouldn't even show anything on the moniter. Since then I have reset the CDCTRL or something beside the motherboard battery. I have gotten the bios to recognize the hard drive now and have actually been able to install and run windows from it. Upon boot right after the "Energy" screen it says "Fast Trak "lite" Bios ver. 1.31 (Build 24) Scanning IDE Drives. and after that and hitting "Ctrl + F" as it says to do In the FastBuild it says there is no disk found and does not let me change anything withing since after hitting any key it reboots the system. If "Cltr + F" isn't hit it will eventually load into windows. Please help me, I'd like to know how to fix the problem of the Fastbuild not thinking there is a HD and slowing the booting process down that much.

I changed something in setup utility, but not shur what it is that I changed. now I get this, and Secondary hard disk drive 1 not found.

As part of my monthly maintenance checks I ran Disk Clean up and it took so long to complete that it was almost like a drive-defrag. I had to cancel out of it at least once I try it in safe mode because I was sure it was hanging. Only it wasn't hanging, just running slow. The part that took forever was NOT the pre part where it estimates how much space you can free on the disk. That was done in a few minutes. It was when running Disk Clean up and it was doing the "Compress Old Files" part. It took at least 45 minutes. When I went into Safe Mode, as part of Disk Clean Up, I check something that I think was called "Temporary Index File Searching." that I did not see before in Normal Mode. Why would Disk Clean Up take 3-5 times longer to complete than usual?

When I try to run Disk Cleanup, the message comes up, "Disk Cleanup is calculating how much space." but the progress bar is frozen at about 10% and nothing happens.How do I unfreeze it so the utility will run?

When using the Disk Cleanup, if you never want to "Compress Old Files" (which is often annoying and takes a long time) follow this tip: Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerVolumeCachesCompress Old FilesOn the Edit menu, click Export, in case you change your mind.On the Edit menu again now click Delete. i realised my pc cannot resume from a standby or hibernate. it shows a BSOD. some kernel inpage error. i surfed several forums about it.they say to run dskchk. but i cant use any of hard disk utilities. dskchk doesnt find my drives. i installed HD tune. it says no disks were found. i thought maybe somethin is wrong wid OS.. so tried a reinstall. but even it cant find my partitions. so i cant even format my pc now.. i can open & use my drives perfectly from my computer but problem is with disk utilities... Disk management doesnt show any of my partitins, it only shows my dvd drive. disk defragment shows them but cannot defrag. so i cannot defrag, scan for errors, format any of my drives. at one forum sum1 mentioned trojan remover can fix this... i installed it & started scan.. but it detects my system files as malicious & asks for action. but i aborted the scan cuz i'm afraid if it deletes or excludes sytem critical files i wont be able to boot & neither i can reinstall OS. so there is very much chance of data loss.

I used the backup utility that comes with XPPro/(i am running sp2) and used the wizard process.I chose the one that says you will be prompted to make a floppy once the back-up is done.The back up is done(i copied the whole of "C" drive onto another drive on my machine) but there was no prompt to make a floppy.I guess i have two questions..
1. what happened to the prompt, how do i get the wizarfd to work etc etc
2. to make my own floppy, what files should i put on it?

My XP Pro SP2 laptop has a lot of third-party things installed on it, and I'd like to figure out which one causes more-than-occasional bouts of repetitive hard disk access. The 'hard disk access' LED light gets lit almost-continuously and I can hear the rapid clicking of the disk heads moving, but I can't figure out what's actually being done. It slows down *everything*. It's not just page-faulting -- I can monitor "page faults delta" with Windows Task Manager under "View -> Select Columns..." -- something's accessing files a lot. It almost always happens when returning from stand-by/suspend.I know it's not antivirus scanning, because I run that manually and turned off automatic protection.Is there a utility for monitoring how much hard disk access each running process is using up in the last 5 seconds or so? Disk Monitor isn't very useful in that regard.

Using Windows XP Pro. When disk clean-up block appears (not always)the compress files goes on forever. The process doesn't proceed to temp internet files, recycle bin etc.

Recently, I have had Windows XP's check disk utility come up during start up and run through the disks to check for corruption. Every time, it would just scan and be ok. Yesterday however, after my computer was on stand by, I tried to open up thunderbird to check my emails when I got the corrupt file windows message. I restarted and the check utility came up again..this time a lot of messages popped up saying that it was "fixing" the disks etc. When I got back into windows and opened up thunderbird..my entire inbox was gone. Everything else with thunderbird is there instead of the inbox. The check disk is still coming up on startup.

Computer has been operating very slow, especially with shut down. You have to keep trying shutdown. So I attempted to run chkdsk. AT first it wouldn't run so I choose to have it run on reboot. It was proceeding along nicely,then received the following error found at FS-Rec.sys address F9EOFS1D base at F9EOF000 Datestamp 3b7d8361. I have run a scan using Symantec Antivirus also adaware and spybot without anything being found.

OK,i need some help here,after changing desktop casing,I noticed that my 2nd IDE Hard drive/HD is not on "My Computer",check on the Device manager HD is present and when i tried to see the details of my HD on Disk Management HD is not present,so I've rebooted HD is present in BIOS.Things I did:1.Fix windows using recovery console2.Connect/reconnect cables3.Check if HD is still working(100% sure it's working)4.Updated driversAdditional info's"HD is Seagate Barracuda(Master-Slave set up), OS Windows XP sp3**Please note that i can't see the HD on my disk management like any other people would do to fix this problem***If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know. I'm going to attempt trying the drive on a different IDE hannel, and see if that works.

my computer running slow and now, my computer has completely failed me.It's a Dell Inspiron 9300. About 4 years old. Without finding a way into it, I can't tell you much else. The only thing I downloaded today was HJT so I could post a log on the other thread I have up. fell asleep on the couch, and when I awoke, there was a lovely blue screen with some gibberish about "if this is the first time you have seen this screen, restart" and when I did...BLACK SCREEN and this horrendous clicking noise coming from the lower right-hand side of the unit. I should also mention the unit was so hot to the touch I nearly burned myself. Literally. It's gotten hot before, but this was honestly stove-top burner hot

I am losing disk space during the day. After 10 hours, my 10GB of space is emptied. After I reboot, the 10GB comes back and starts losing space again.No viruses or trojan horses or spyware found using several software applications. Emptied tmp files, recycle bin, cache, etc. using several cleaning applications.

When I boot up my computer, I get several messages from Windows which read this way: "[insert file with a .exe extension here] - Corrupt File The file or directory C:WINDOWSsystem32UACmqiemusiwu.dll is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility." This message comes up every time that I try to run an executable file and seems to prevent some of them from running altogether. I can run Chkdsk in Safe Mode, but after it completes file verification it says "Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read only mode." I have a virus (Total Security 2009) that is preventing the computer from displaying the command prompt in regular mode, but the programs that I need to get ride of the virus are all executable and cant be installed because of this glitch. Any help with what this file UACmqiemusiwu.dll is or how to fix it would be great. I've tried deleting it, but the computer won't let me because it is corrupt and unreadable.

I have given my 40GB ATA HDD to my friend to fetch some movies he has got in his 160GB SATA HDD. He configured my HDD as secondary master and copied all the movies to mine. Later he removed my HDD and rebooted the system to find that his HDD isn't booting up. He says that his HDD isn't being detected in the BIOS. The well known error message "No bootable device found. Insert system disk and press Enter" appears every time he tries to boot his system. What can the solution other than formatting?( Formatting isn't favourable as there is critical data in the HDD).

On my box at home, I have Norton System Works, which contains a registry diagnostic/sweeper.At work, where I run Windows 2000 Pro, I was wondering...I know there are various registry diagnostic & cleaner utilities out there on the web, but I thought I had heard that Windows itself either includes one on the OS disc or makes one available for download.Is there such a thing as an official Windows Registry utility?

Had to reinstall XP due to some disk errors. Now my audio does not work.I tried reinstalling drivers,but I'm not 100% sure I got the right ones.Under Sounds and Audio Deives everything is grayed out.In the device manager all the "Sound and VIdeo Game Controllers" appear to be OK....however under Other Devices all options have a yellow ? next to them. I think it has something to do with this....especially the Multimedia Audio Controller one.

it found the virus on the F hdd which u guys know its not the main one ...it was(virus) found on a folder i can't even see i have the "show hidden folders" on so why can't i see those folders ? i am more worried about that than the virus since my software found it im okay with it lol but i just reinstalled my os and i get a virus found on a folder i didn't know xcisted wtfuge ! ! and i have folder that are just named kinda like this "5e56dc46768be0474974c759ab4690" on some hdd any ideas? oh and i can't erase them why?

Out of nowhere in the C drive come these folders. They are named FOUND.000 on up through FOUND.025. Inside the folders are various numbers of files that are named in this way FILE0000.CHK, FILE0001.CHK, FILE0002.CHK. what are they and what should I do?

For those of you who love Microsoft power tools, but hate the new bulky task switcher here is the fix.1.Run the msconfig2.Select the start up tab3.Un check the taskswitch.exe check box4.Click apply then ok then reboot5.Next time you use the alt tab utility will be back to normal.

i tried to run it under SAFE mode in case some app might be restricting it from functioning but to no use i even replaced the utility with the original one from my installation disk but even that didn't work out.
but it seems theres some problem with the utility itself because i downloaded a 3rd party pinging utility and it worked just fine!
note: i have tested my firewall and antivirus options..they r not interfering.

When booting up, the Sys Config Util comes up with the usual canned statement. He has not made any changes. Clicks Don't show this again then clicks OK. Reboots and again it comes up. He is the only user and administrator.
