I am having a problem with my computer shutingdown when I am on the internet. I will be searching and all of a sudden my computer will start a shutdown it says that the NT Authority system caused the shutdown. How do I fix this problem? I downloade Registry Repair Pro and ran a scan to fix all the problems on my computer but this is still happening.
View 9 RepliesI keep getting the NT Authority shutdown every now and again (maybe every three days or so), but I do not have any viruses, worms, trojans, etc, that I can find. Secondly, when I reboot the pc it comes to the wallpaper but wont go any further, I have to reboot three times or more before it works. the pc keeps dropping the broadband connection, then immediately saying it cant reconnect as the modem is in use, and I have to reboot before I can connect again. I cant find how the modem is in use. Also, random programs tend to crash now and again, and when I click to submit the report and get more information, it tells me microsoft cannot determine the cause of the crash. It isnt any particular program or any particular task/time.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA client computer (XP Home) started receiving the pop-up message "DCOM NT Authority/System". And then the pop-up says you have 60 seconds until shutdown. I have used the FixBlast.exe removal tool from Symantec. I have run it in regular and safe mode and receive the message "Worm Not Found" in each. I have run a virus check using AVG and no results. I still get the message after XP starts to load. I can eliminate the message by running "shutdown -a" from the run command. Does anyone know of any other way of checking for Blaster 32 or how to get rid of the pop-up.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMy computer running windows XP has been periodically crashing (~ 1 per month). The event viewer indicates a system error category (102) with event ID 1003. The Error code is as follows: 100000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 0000001c, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 ba0a9182. I have tried to analyze the minidump files using the windows debugger tool. It indicates that the error is probably caused by vss2k.sys ( vss2k+6182) and attributes it to a driver_fault. I really have not been able to decipher much more than that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to install farstone virtual drive on a computer it reboots during the driver installation phase. After the reboot at the desktop windows says new hardware found and asks to install it. It's the offending driver, fcdabios. Windows installs it and says it was installed successfully. Then the computer spontaneously reboots again. It seems to start alright back at the desktop but again reboots after 2 minutes. The only cure is to do a restore from a norton ghost image. I sent a debug file to farstone but haven't received a reply yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a friend that has a computer with an illegal version, i told to resolve it with microsoft, or he can backup the data neeed and do a new installation, well guess waht he did a new installation w/o backup, so actually he lost applications and data, question:it is possible with any recovery utility for hd to recover at least the documents from ms word and the email messages and address book from outlook express, even when this hd already have a new win xp prom ? is there a software that will be able to recover evrything that was on the hd, i really doubt it but maybe there is a posiblity

View 14 Replies View RelatedI use xp pro and have Microsoft PLUS installed wich gives me a few extra themes to choose from. Everything works great except when i log in or out of windows i dont get any sounds, no matter what theme i use. It used to work fine and i am not sure exactly when it stopped.
I checked my sounds configuration and i can play the start up and shutdown sounds by testing them but they wont work when actually starting or shutting down windows. Even if i just use the regular XP theme i still dont get any sound.
Pc keeps shutting down, and a blue screen appears which says windows has shutdown to prevent damage too my pc. its happeneing all the time i have not a clue whats wrong with it, and i have recently sent it in too be fixed but its come back in the same state.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not too knowledgeable about the technical side of computing, so please bear with me.I'm running Windows XP Professional (SP2) on an AMD Athlon XP 3200+. My grandson showed me a game called Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, which I fell in love with and subsequently bought for my own computer. As I only had 'on board' graphics, the game obviously wouldn't run, so I bought an Nvidia 6200 graphics card.Following the instructions which came with it, I installed the card successfully. The only thing I couldn't do was disable the 'on board' graphics, but as my computer recognised the new card automatically, I went ahead and installed the driver.The new card didn't need an extra power source, as there was no connector on it. Incidentally, I did find the 'on board' graphics in the System > Properties list, but nothing happens when I click on it, so I assume I can't disable it.
Everything appeared to work well and I got the Roller Coaster game up and running beautifully.Some time later, after I had closed the game and gone on to other things, I needed to restart my computer, so I went through the usual restart sequence.Things went well at first but some way through the Windows XP loading screen, where the little blue bars scroll across, my computer simply switched off, totally! I tried again (obviously from a cold boot this time), but the same thing happened.To cut a long story short, I eventually removed the new card, and restored my system to a safe point, and it's now running perfectly again, although I can't play my game now.I'd be really grateful for any advice you can offer as to what the problem might be, as I want to build some more roller coasters!
When CPU usage gets to 100% it will shutdown without notice. I think it may be because I need to run disk clean up, not sure. This computer is old and I fixed it myself, that's why I think running disk cleanup will help, but when i run disk cleanup my usage goes right up to 100%.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen shutting down my laptop (Toshiba Satellite, Windows XP), I get the "end program" box that says MCCWSA will not shut down. This box stays on screen until I click end now. This is something that started recently and I can shut down by clicking the "end now" button. If I don't click the end now button the computer does not shut down. This is very annoying. It seems to have started when I cannot get online and a verizon box pops up and asks if I wish for them to check my computer. When I say yes they do and tell me everything is ok. This is a waste.

Last few days when trying to shut down I'm getting an error message "Device 10 Notification" with the option to cancel or end task. Either choice leads me to the same issue that the program is not responding. Sometimes the computer goes ahead and shuts down anyway, other times I have to shut down without ending the program.

When I try to open up various things in my documents or on my external hard drive, the same thing happens. I have deleted things that I no longer use, I have run a malware program twice, and I got a new antivirus program (Symantec) and ran it three times. This has not fixed the problem. Main problemis taht many times when I shut down after using some applications or internet, it does not respond. System hangs and it takes sometimes 5 to 10 minutes to shutdown after repeated commands for that. Many programmes are shows as NOT RESPONDING and some times even ccApp is shown not responding. Even once I had to remove battery to make it shut down by cutting off power supply. The main problem is on shutdown although system does hang up some times during use. I put following software in it.

MSN and Yahoo messenger, Google Talk, EUALyzer, 7-Zip, WinRAR trial, Opera, Spyware blaster, Google desktop sarch,Firefox with many extensions( flat style, popup master, popup sound, yes popup, tabbed browsing prefrences, colored tabs, no script, down them all, flashgot, dictionary tool tip, answers, google toolbar, yahoo toolbar, google preview, google safe browsing, netcraft toolbar,site advisor, IE tab, IE view, Tab mix plus, Text size toolbar, Google preview,A Timetracker, page zoom, and some themes) IE has sitehound toolbar, google and yahoo toolbar, site advisor, and clodmark toolbar. Don,t think this lot of stuff is the cause as i put almost same stuff on my friends desktop that ic celeron and it,s fine, no such problem. Also i downloaded some Icons from internet and used them to change Icons of some folders and desktop shortcut items via Properties Tab...............
My computer will not shut down. When I hit the "start" button and then select "shutdown" it goes through all of the motions, but then it reboots. It is almost as though it thinks that I am hitting the "restart" button instead of the "shutdown" button. When I followed the checklist in Windows, it suggested a restore point. I tried that but it said that I had made no changes to the computer since that restore point and therefore I could not use the restore point technique.
View 7 Replies View Relatedi remote into my XP box everything is fine except when i shut down using a shutdown shortcut and other shutdown utilities no matter what after i get booted off the remote session the computer looks like its shutting down then stays on for a few seconds then a BSOD appear. I have been trying to figure out why for the past week and no solution so im hoping someone can chime in..The problem is only on remote if i shut down locally never a single BSOD and no hardware has changed. So i reformatted the hard drive and when I go to reload xp it does not recognize the dell xp/media edition dvd. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently built and deployed an SBS 2003 server. Today I joined one of my machines to that newly created domain. In this process (adding to domain, redirecting My Docs, etc.) I lost the ability to logoff. Not exactly clear when that happened, but the current state is no good.I cannot log off using the start menu items. When the logoff or shutdown dialogs come up I can click the OK or Log Off and the dialog goes away, but nothing happens. I have looked at the task manager and really nothing happens. CPU doesn't budge. I can continue working as long as I'd like.

hi i'm very untechy, i am getting an rpc server error and cannot figure out how to fix it. it keeps rebooting my system. so it's in a continual state of shutdown and reboot. RPC Server Unavailable, hres: 0x800706BA Register Class Objects Fail when i try to do anything it shuts down before i can complete it.. and i try to type command, but i have to go through ctrl/alt/delete to get to the run function because the taskbar isn't there?

While in multiplayer mode in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, I would get excessive page file activity which would get progressively worse. Map load times would constantly increase as each new map was loaded until the system reported WOLF.exe had caused and error and would shutdown the game. The solution for my system is to set both the Desktop AND game color to 16-bit. Also, set both to the same resolution. I like 1280 x 1024, but that may be too high for some systems.After this tweak, my map load times went from >1 min to between 10 and 20 seconds. Right where a P4 1.5 with 256 megs should be.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to dual boot my Vista Ultimate system and XP, the problem I run into is that once I get the XP partition, put in the XP boot disc and restart the system the XP install starts. It loads the drivers that it needs for the install but then I get the blue screen saying that windows has shut down to protect the computer. I do have a SATA drive and I've heard this causes issues but I haven't heard of one exactly like mine before (I never get to the actual installation just the pre-loading).

The solution of microsoft is to update the graphic driver but when I go to the web page they don´t have an update for me, and also in the toshiba web page.

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. I tried the Recovery Console as suggested, but it wouldn't let me past the Admin Password prompt. (And besides, Microsoft says not to do that on an OEM-installed operating system. )Soon, the error message disappeared and turned into a reboot loop, going endlessly back and forth between the Dell screen and the Windows screen. I tried a Repair Installation and it looked like it was working but it just added a new screen to the loop that says: "Setup is being restarted."
View 14 Replies View RelatedThis is weird. I have to go through the shutdown procedure twice, i.e., Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok, then Start/Shut Down/Shut Down and click Ok again. It will then shutdown properly. The same thing happens when I try to "Restart." After doing the first shutdown sequence, everything is normal. I can open programs, surf the web, etc. It's as if I never tried to shut it down at all. Only after the second shutdown procedure will it shutdown fully. One note: When I go through the first shutdown sequence, my taskbar pops up and the desktop is darkened. After clicking Ok, the taskbar autohides and my desktop returns to its normal color.I have only had this problem for the last month or two. Before that, all was fine. It's not critical since I can shut it down. It's just annoying to have to do it twice.I have Windows 2000 Pro, SP4, build 5.00.2195.

When I select "Start" then either shutdown or reboot, my desktop will flicker a couple of times, and then nothing appears to happen. I must select "start" again and then either shutdown or reboot and then they will work as expected.

I have a pavilion a810n(amd 64 3300+, 1.5gb ram, x800gto 512mb video) and have not yet downloaded service pack 3 and it recently showed up in automatic updates but im not sure if i should install it or not. Has the issue been fixed yet? What are the chances that my pc will have issues?
