I did go to this website and downloaded the taskbar fix it link, however when I went to run it off my desktop, NORTON caught it and popped up that it was a MALICIOUS THREAT or something regarding MALICIOUS.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI think that I have a virus which is stopping me from 1) Installing Norton Internet Security 2005 properly, and 2) Stopping me from accessing all anti-virus related sites, for example - www.symantec.com, ww.grisoft.com, www.pandasoftware.com, and when i tried to download AVG 6.0 from another site which was unrelated to antivirus, I found that I could access the site but the download failed.

Worked with the Verizon On Line techs and they found that my modem and associated equipment is in fine working order, and speculated that the problem is probably in my computer. I tried several possible fixes from some local experts (cleaning out the Explorer cache, running Spy-Bot, Ad-Aware, Norton anti-virus, Microsoft Anti-Spyware, etc.) to no avail.

It was a fake site that looked like Internet Explore virus protection, and it said to start scan now. I didn't and just closed it and thought everything was fine. The next day I tried to log on and it just went back to the log on screen. It said logging off. I kept on trying and it did the same thing over and over. View 2 Replies View RelatedMy problem is is when I booted my comp up yesterday, norton comes up with some odd error about not being able to scan e-mail or instant messenger for viruses, and my internet on just this computer will not work. Now this happened with my other comp when the hard drive was failing. The computer will also at some reboots take forever to get into windows.Sometimes when I try to get into network connections or my computer, it will just hang or I get the flashlight icon scanning. I was able to back up most of my stuff, but when I tried to reformat, it kept saying to close all windows and I ended every program I could think of.I also tried a system restore to Saturday when it was working normal, but I have had no luck. Is it something with windows or is another HDD going? I'm thinking of just RMA'ing the HDD and do a whole new install. My only other option is to use a Linux Suse disk I have and boot from that and see if it works. I can open it (sometimes) but as soon as I try to do anything with it it hangs. Most other programs are not affected except as I close IE now, I get an error message "The instruction at "1x127cfb80" referenced memory at"0x0215ad58". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program." This may or may not be related.I tried removing NIS 2005 and System Restore came back to normal but having reinstalled - the problem now re-occurs. Symantec website is useless and I cannot find any telephone numbers.Has anyone else had a similar problem?

Running WIN XP Pro on a HP Desk top. Here is the story. anti-virus program (F-Secure) said it found and fixed two trojan viruses (i cant remember the names). Just to be safe I ran another manual virus check with F-Secure and it came back clean. I then rebooted, and it took a while to reboot. when windows finally loaded - my desktop was the same, all my files where there, but my menu bar at the bottom looked different.

I had this working last year, but now I can't seem to search content in files. I go to Start, Search, and then I select "All Files and Folders".I used to be able to type in the search words in "A word or phrase in the file", and then select a folder by going to "Look in", then Browse, and then I would select the folder there.
At the end of November, the folks over in the Security forum were kind enough to walk me through a huge problem I was having. My computer has never been better except for one small thing. my "search" function doesn't work. The little doggy is there and if I enter something and then ask it to search files and folders (or anything for that matter), it goes off to search and then nothing happens. Eventually I get the "Program not Responding" window and when I close it, my desktop blinks off for a second and then my Norton systray button is missing.It's weird and I'm sure I deleted something inadvertently while I was getting rid of that terrible trojan. I was just wondering if someone had a suggestion so that I could restore that function. If not, I'll leave it alone because I'm just happy to have my computer back to normal almost. I thought I was going to have to throw it away until those guys saved it for me.
