I just looked at internet options - security - restricted sites and found a bunch in there. I had none about a month ago and never had any before. Some sound bad but that's irrelevant, my question is how did they get there? Is this some connection to MS's new security downloads?
View 4 RepliesFather wants (mysite.com) blocked for anyone that uses computer. They use IE and AOL. I can use parent controls for AOL but not sure how to use Restricted Sites on IE When I start to type (my site) several URL will show up. Do I use all URL or do I just type (www.mysite.com). This is a 12yr. old girl and she forgot all her password (LOL) so when I try it using Fathers side on IE it says restricted in bottom right corner but it will go to log in screen for the site. She is restricted from computer till she turns 18 if I don't get it resolved.

Also, does it only block the major site (just the www.badsite.com) and not all subdomains of that? (for example "signup.badsite.com")
View 10 Replies View Relatedi have XP pro I have one limited account and my account is Administrator. Now when I use Ineternet Explorer and select internet options on the tools menu, it says that it is restricted and the see an administrator. I am not sure how to set this back to default settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm really clueless as to my next, step possibly a re-install of windows, i have a laptop and another PC both networked to my PC using crossover cables. 2 network cards in my computer bridged and ICS shared over the bridge. Both can access the internet with no problems using internet explorer, MSN etc. open web pages using Internet Explorer or Firefox sign into msn has once or twice since this problem started I have scanned with ad-aware and norton 2007 both up to date, found some things and fixed them but still not working.

Click for options..." When I click there is the statement "Allow blocked content" - when I click on this, nothing happens - the message just reappears. Frequently, when I open this page, I will get this message on my desktop but not my laptop:"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer."Clicking for options, I get:"Are you sure you want to let this file run active content?"This is ridiculous, as there is no such "active content" on the page. Obviously, it has something to do with IE security settings.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi'm runnin XP SP2 and IE7. the problem i'm having is that ever since i moved i have been unable to view sites in Internet Explorer because I keep getting Apache Server at go.microsoft.com Port 8100. I have tried to reset the settings in Internet Options to manufacturers spec but that yielded no results. I can use internet explorer fine on the guest account, however it is indeed..a guest account. The issue isn't such a big deal since i use Firefox anyway, but it is annoying when i rip a CD to my computer and am forbidden to access CDDA for covers, song titles and such.

View 7 Replies View Relatedwhen out of no where, I received those weird progams on my PC which are those fake Virus scanners and such. i then deleted it from the source, and ran my Nortan scan and my spysweeper, and they found nothing wrong with my pc. Now, the PC will NOT let me go to "important" sites. For example, Bank of America, Paypal, anti-virus sites, Ebay, etc. But will let me go to sites like Myspace or forums. I had my favs on my toolbar as tiles so its easier to access them, i had about 10 of them, and now only 5 remain after the whole thing happened, and the 5 that were removed were "important" sites. Almost every thing on my tool bar was removed, including File, Edit, View, Tools, and such. My search engine is still displayed though.

I've managed to get rid of therapid AV, but it looks like I've got some malware/adware of some sort running. Attempts to get to symantec, mcaffee, avg, etc give site not available results in IE 7 - includes techguy.org!!!!, but non-"fixit" sites like google and everything else in the world I can get to. Every few clicks, the url is redirected to an ad site. I've run adaware and trendmicro which found Troj_vg_fcx and removed it, but the problem persists.

I have Windows XP x64 bit on one of the HDD, and I have bought a new HDD,I would like to install the same operating system on the new HDD,how do I do it? Just plug-in the new HDD and install a new OS on it?Or do I need to detach one and then install the os on the new one?

Internet Options won't open in Windows Xp Pro Sp3 from Control Panel or anywhere else. I have checked SYSTEM32 and there is inetcpl (control panel extension file) and inetcplc.dll. I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck. I have also run a VB script written by someone on the web to Remove Internet Restriction. Didn't work.Here is the error message I get when trying to open Internet Options from within Internet Explorer 8 (I usually use Firefox BTW, the latest, and this update was two days ago.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe blue one day I cannot access Internet Options from the tools menu in IE7 on Vista Ultimate. I also cannot open Internet options from the control panel. When I click on it nothing happens. I tried to run Spybot. I tried running IE7 as administrator and it says: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I checked and IE7 has full permissions and no restrictions. I am also logged in as an administrator. I tried sfc /scannow in an elivated command prompt and it said it found errors but couldn't fix them. I also ran system restore and it cannot restore anything no matter what date I choose. Can anyone explain what suddenly happened to my Vista out of the blue? I run the latest Mcafee by the way.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set my desktop up as computer that would allow others to connect through it. The desktop is upstairs and connects wirelessly to my router downstairs. I've loooked at some guides that explain how to set it up for sharing and they say to right click the connection, then go to properties, then advanced tab, and there will be the options for internet connection sharing. However, there are no options there that relate to "Internet Connection Sharing" only Windows Firewall with a "Settings" button.

1. I cannot find the internet option tab anymore. It is not anywhere.
2. Right clicks are not working. I cannot save pictures or add any favorites when I right click.
3. Cannot print from most websites.
4. I cannot activate ActiveX.
Internet Explorer/Internet Options/Homepage has a lot of addresses for Homepage options that are sites I've visited but never used for my homepage, and I can't get rid of them. Delete doesn't work, control/delete doesn't work.

But mostly it seemed to be the internet that was running super slow. We have run our Norton and Ad-ware (malware & spyware program) and found nothing.Today, I was unable to even get IE8 to open.
