i am having a problem with sound. the strange thing is, i can hear sound when i play music from my windows media player. but, i cannot hear sound from things such as: Internet, or any website. i don't really understand. is there a setting in internet options or something that i need to turn on?
I read that in TOOLS--->Internet options--->Advance, there's a setting that I can make the pulldown manu not be truncated. I can't find it for the life of me.
I just put a hard drive in this HP and installed a fresh copy of Windows XP Home. The only sound I can get is from Windows media player, no system sound at all! I have done microsoft update and installed realtek drivers and nothing happens after they install. Also all the options are faded so you cant test or change them. The video is the same way, I cant even change themes, The propeties button does nothing when you click on it.
How can i set the settings like, when in-game i want to play a sound straight from my PC, not putting my microphone near the headphones so they can hear it
I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows xp. Now my sound is messed up. I can turn the volume up as loud as it will go and it's very quiet coming out of the speakers. I checked all of the settings and even went so far as to buy a new soundcard, but the problem persists.
when i restart my computer the volume icon on the taskbar does not show up so i go into the control panel/sound & audio devices and the checkmark is still there saying place volume icon on taskbar so i uncheck then apply and check again and apply it comes up then i go to restart my computer again and its gone yet again how do i keep the volume icon from disappearing?
I cant download i cant get into the internet options i cant print i cant right click i can copy and paste (at the top of the screen where the blue bar with the minimize and close) it should say internet explorer but there is nothing there. Also the bottom, when you minimize there is no internet explorer except for the symbol. Please help me!! i am an intermediate in the knowledge of computers
My volume icon is missing from the tool bar. It has happened before, but a few reboots would always bring it back. Now it is gone. I have gone to control panel>sound and audio properties and found the place volume icon in task bar box checked. What can I do next?
I have Call of Duty on my PC, and just a wee while ago noticed something very weird. I ran my desktop cleanup wizard for the first time in months, and noticed afterwards when I went to play Call of Duty all my graphics and sound settings had been reset to the lowest levels of quality, and some mouse settings had also been altered. I can change these back to my preferences while in the game, but if I quit and then load the game again all the settings have reset back to the lowest settings again. If I do a system restore to the point before I did the desktop cleanup then everything is fine, but every time I redo the desktop cleanup the problem reoccurs.
In IE7, when I click on Tools>Internet Options, the Internet Options box will appear for a split second, then disappear. Does anyone have a solution for this?
There are suddenly no options listed under the "Manage security settings for:" heading, just blank space, so I have no way to edit my Firewall, Antivirus or Windows Update settings from the Center. I opened services.msc and it shows the service started automatically.
I need some helpadvice about installing 2 operating systems on 2 different hard drivers. I have Windows XP x64 bit on one of the HDD, and I have bought a new HDD,I would like to install the same operating system on the new HDD,how do I do it? Just plug-in the new HDD and install a new OS on it?Or do I need to detach one and then install the os on the new one?
I can't find in the internet information about installing the same OS on different HDD only about different OS.
Internet Options won't open in Windows Xp Pro Sp3 from Control Panel or anywhere else. I have checked SYSTEM32 and there is inetcpl (control panel extension file) and inetcplc.dll. I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck. I have also run a VB script written by someone on the web to Remove Internet Restriction. Didn't work. Here is the error message I get when trying to open Internet Options from within Internet Explorer 8 (I usually use Firefox BTW, the latest, and this update was two days ago.
It doesn't mater if I use IE tools or control panel, when I click (internet options) it doesn't open. I'm running windows XP and I have not installed anything new. I have all the anti stuff, ( SuperAntiSpyware -Trend Micro - Advance System Care - Easy Cleaner) I've even turned them all off, but it still won't open.
The blue one day I cannot access Internet Options from the tools menu in IE7 on Vista Ultimate. I also cannot open Internet options from the control panel. When I click on it nothing happens. I tried to run Spybot. I tried running IE7 as administrator and it says: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I checked and IE7 has full permissions and no restrictions. I am also logged in as an administrator. I tried sfc /scannow in an elivated command prompt and it said it found errors but couldn't fix them. I also ran system restore and it cannot restore anything no matter what date I choose. Can anyone explain what suddenly happened to my Vista out of the blue? I run the latest Mcafee by the way.
I Hope someone has seen this I am being told that I am no longer the administrator of my computer, and can not change the internet options. I have Win XP Home SP2, IE 6.0.2900.2180 BTW, I am the only user and I have complete admin rights.
I'm trying to set my desktop up as computer that would allow others to connect through it. The desktop is upstairs and connects wirelessly to my router downstairs. I've loooked at some guides that explain how to set it up for sharing and they say to right click the connection, then go to properties, then advanced tab, and there will be the options for internet connection sharing. However, there are no options there that relate to "Internet Connection Sharing" only Windows Firewall with a "Settings" button.
I just looked at internet options - security - restricted sites and found a bunch in there. I had none about a month ago and never had any before. Some sound bad but that's irrelevant, my question is how did they get there? Is this some connection to MS's new security downloads?
Internet Explorer/Internet Options/Homepage has a lot of addresses for Homepage options that are sites I've visited but never used for my homepage, and I can't get rid of them. Delete doesn't work, control/delete doesn't work.
Recently our computer (running Win XP Service Pack 3, 512MB RAM, Hard Drive approx 33% full) has starting running really slow... Like taking 3+ minutes to open a Word doc. But mostly it seemed to be the internet that was running super slow. We have run our Norton and Ad-ware (malware & spyware program) and found nothing.Today, I was unable to even get IE8 to open. I kept getting the "(Applicationname.exe)has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Trying to put in my earthlink email under tools and internet options, so that when I click on an "email customer support" link or something, it goes to my email instead of microsoft outlook express or something like hotmail. Choosing earthlink isnt an option in there.
When I click on Internet Properties in my Control Panel and I go to "Programs" I would like to add the Hotmail choice in the e-mail catagory. Right now all that it shows available are: Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail. How do I get Hotmail as a choice in this area so I can choose it as my e-mail choice?
