I recently reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled Windows xp. Now my sound is messed up. I can turn the volume up as loud as it will go and it's very quiet coming out of the speakers. I checked all of the settings and even went so far as to buy a new soundcard, but the problem persists.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI can't change my homepage anymore it's stuck at this stupid video renting site and also i can't listen to any audio in web pages or any other program except windows media player and i've noticed when i'm on warcraft 3 i can't only hear background music and clicking sounds but no battling or speech audio that's really weird and i've set the proper volumes in the game already so i don't know what's going on also, i'm using symantec antivirus corporate edition and spyware doctor but they were both recently been unable to protect my computer in real time when b4 it was always ON and protecting my computer, now i can only scan computer with those programs (i have not changed the settings on these programs and it still says real time protection is enabled).
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have XP Pro 2002 SP3 Pent4 2.66GHz 1.00GB of RAM Recently I cannot view a video or listen to music without it stopping the music to rebuffer & videos stop.System idle is at 65-70 & iexplore is at 25-30.I do not see anything else running.I do not play games.I did recently download the lastest version of itunes & have read that a number of people are having a buffering problem when listening to radio stations.And I am not able to watch a movie at hulu without it needing to stop I was able to last week.

I ran my desktop cleanup wizard for the first time in months, and noticed afterwards when I went to play Call of Duty all my graphics and sound settings had been reset to the lowest levels of quality, and some mouse settings had also been altered. I can change these back to my preferences while in the game, but if I quit and then load the game again all the settings have reset back to the lowest settings again. If I do a system restore to the point before I did the desktop cleanup then everything is fine, but every time I redo the desktop cleanup the problem reoccurs.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI found images in Windows Picture and Fax viewer that I want to delete. I can delete them one-by-one, but that takes time. I went to Disk Cleanup up and deleted all Temp and Temp internet files, but the images are still there. I checked Properties of the images for the file names, went to Win Explorer, but only found C:Documents and Settingsuser, there was no subfolder for Local Settings and, obviously nothing after that. I did a Search in Explorer, including hidden files and folders, for the file names and the searches resulted in nothing. I am back to deleting one-by-one, but my concern is, Where did everything from Local Settings on go to. BTW, I also run Skybot, Adaware and Norton virus weekly

I have a Toshiba Tecra A8 ez8313 laptop and need to clear my system registry in dos screen.. I get to the point where i start PC with command prompts and hit enter but all that does is run a list og the loading drivers and then starts the PC in safe mode ...I cant get it to go to the C: comman prompt ...I am running XP and it will no longer accept my password ... I have been told a few differnt things to try during the start up such as pressing the page break key ..... or holding the windows key and R at the same time none of them pull up the command prompt.

I've tried unchecking and rechecking the address option in the toolbar selection popup menu from the taskbar. I've also cleared all the sections under tools --> options --> privacy from the Firefox dropdown menu. Maybe I need to do something from within IE rather than Firefox?
