I Hope someone has seen this I am being told that I am no longer the administrator of my computer, and can not change the internet options. I have Win XP Home SP2, IE 6.0.2900.2180 BTW, I am the only user and I have complete admin rights.

I have tried opening Internet Options in Run, no luck. I have also run a VB script written by someone on the web to Remove Internet Restriction. The browser will display web pages from files on the computer. (Windows XP sr2)I have concluded that this is an IE related problem, since Netscape 7.2 works properly.When I open IE6 with an Internet connection, the title bar indicates that my default homepage is (will be) displayed. There is no url shown in the address bar and no information displayed in the status bar. The mouse hourglass icon is displayed for as long as the browser is left open.

When i went to folder options to try and change the icon for drives it somehow reset the setting for opening drives to find. I changed it to open with windows explorer for now so that i can open things but this doesnt help as they all open in new windows. Does anyone know how to reset this action to default? View 4 Replies View RelatedMy keyboard is set to the US setting and I am from the UK so I want to change this but when I go into the control panel and double click on the regional and language options the sand timer comes up for around two seconds then it turns back to the normal pointer and nothing else happens and the window has not opened. Although this may not seem a big problem it is extremely annoying to have to use a US keyboard setting with a UK keyboard.My other problem is that when I try to install the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB917283) the update process runs for a while and it eventually says that the installation has failed. All other updates are being installed successfully but this one continues to fail no matter how many times I try to install it and restart the computer etc.

I would like Windows Explorer to open with the Explorer Bar on the left with Folder view as the default. I've tried saving the view under options but this doesn't seem to work. If I close Windows Explorer it just goes back to the default view before I made my changes. Also is there a way to have Windows Explorer default to a certain directory?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe blue one day I cannot access Internet Options from the tools menu in IE7 on Vista Ultimate. I also cannot open Internet options from the control panel. When I click on it nothing happens. I tried to run Spybot. I tried running IE7 as administrator and it says: This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. I checked and IE7 has full permissions and no restrictions. I am also logged in as an administrator. I tried sfc /scannow in an elivated command prompt and it said it found errors but couldn't fix them. I also ran system restore and it cannot restore anything no matter what date I choose. Can anyone explain what suddenly happened to my Vista out of the blue? I run the latest Mcafee by the way.

I've loooked at some guides that explain how to set it up for sharing and they say to right click the connection, then go to properties, then advanced tab, and there will be the options for internet connection sharing. However, there are no options there that relate to "Internet Connection Sharing" only Windows Firewall with a "Settings" button.
