Can't Open Regional And Language Options

Sep 24, 2006

My keyboard is set to the US setting and I am from the UK so I want to change this but when I go into the control panel and double click on the regional and language options the sand timer comes up for around two seconds then it turns back to the normal pointer and nothing else happens and the window has not opened. Although this may not seem a big problem it is extremely annoying to have to use a US keyboard setting with a UK keyboard. My other problem is that when I try to install the Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 2.0 (KB917283) the update process runs for a while and it eventually says that the installation has failed. All other updates are being installed successfully but this one continues to fail no matter how many times I try to install it and restart the computer etc.

Explorer Open Bar - Options Doesn't Seem To Work

Sep 20, 2004

I'm trying to set a default view for Windows Explorer but everytime I make my changes Windows doesn't seem to save the settings. I would like Windows Explorer to open with the Explorer Bar on the left with Folder view as the default. I've tried saving the view under options but this doesn't seem to work. If I close Windows Explorer it just goes back to the default view before I made my changes. Also is there a way to have Windows Explorer default to a certain directory?

the file options did not offer the Script Hosting as a choice of a program to open VBS files--only Notepad which is worthless for these files how to get XP adjusted to open VBS files in the Script Hosting vs Notepad when Script Hosting is not offered as one of the program choices in the listing for programs with which to open various types of files? Language Bar Not Showing Up

Jul 10, 2009

I have looked through several threads about this problem and have tried the solutions suggested but so far no success. I hope someone maybe able to come up with something.I have XP Professional installed. On Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Advanced the "turn off advanced text services" always seems to get rechecked. Even if you uncheck it the language bar on the task bar does not appear (even though it is ticked on Taskbar/right-click/Toolbars). If the Language bar option becomes available on Control Panel/Regional & Language Options/Languages/Details/Settings, when you open it all the Language Bar Settings are greyed out.

But I want to solve this problem once and for all, so if anyone can help I will appreciate it alot.here is an image of my problem:http://i71.photobucket.com/albums/i1...untitled-1.jpg Oh and I would like to add that the language bar is not suppose to be between (3) and (4). It's suppose to have only one divider, so in other words, it should be between (4) and the arrow at the end of the system tray thingy. cheers!
