On many occasions when I try to install various programs the Installshield wizard starts running and withing 1-2 seconds after the initial screen the program disappears with no errors or anything. I can never get the program or driver installed.
View 14 RepliesI can no longer install any program with installshield. The process goes about 3/4th the way through and hangs up, no error message, it just stops. I have been able to install a program in safe mode but the program then does not work correctly. I also tried to uninstall a program and that process hangs up also.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy husband and I have tried to uninstall his Medal of Honor game using the control panel program change/remove with no success. Everytime we click on the icon change/remove it acts as if it's going to remove it but then it doesn't. This game has used 2,000 kb space on our computer and we are trying to free this space. Somehow the game has the icon for Wildtangent Games in the front of it and it is not part of that system. We have already removed the Wildtangent program and other Medal of Honor games successfully however, this one Medal of Honor game seems unable to be removed regardless of all our efforts. Can anyone please help us? We've done everything we know to do with no success.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to install the game Battlefield 2 on my PC (Pentium 4, 2.4 GHZ, 1024 MB RAM). However, after I press install, the InstallShield installer seems to gets stuck instantly whilst displaying the message "configuring your new software installation". The same thing happened when I tried to uninstall another game, Delta Force Xtreme, and also when I tried to install the MYOB Accounting program. I thought that maybe re-installing Service Pack 2 might help - but unfortunately that too uses the InstallShield Wizard and got stuck on the "inspecting configuration" message. The only way I can quit the installation from here is to End Task from the Task Manager.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen Windows is starting up I get a mostly blank dialog box with an OK button at the bottom after the Windows splash screen disappears, on top of the Windows is starting up screen. The dialog box that contains a small piece of unrecognizable text in the top left corner that changes each time I start computer. Most of the icons on the desktop have changed to the generic I don't know what you are icon and no applications will run including Internet Explorer except the virus program . I get an error message that Windows needs to know what application created that file. (This includes cmd.exe)
The dialog box cannot be closed with the ( X ) in the corner and will only continue to start windows after sitting for about 10 minutes or clicking the OK button. I don't believe it's a virus as the virus program does load and did do a complete scan without finding a virus.
Any time an error occurs, the error screen pops up and disappears before you have a chance to read it. I doesn't seem to matter what the error is.

We tried rebooting and only the initial intel logo is displayed correctly for a couple of seconds and then the windows screen comes on upside down. Any ideas on how to fix this? As I mentioned, it's an older unit with Windows XP installed.

It looks like the program is failing to respond but doesn't say so. Once loaded browsing is normal, althought every time a separate IE window is opened the initial slow response applies followed by normal browsing.

The Installshield process comes up in FRENCH instead of English. I have the English US version of Windows XP Pro. I download the US English version of the drivers. I live in Canada, so I am able to understand French and the install did install the English version of the drivers/files. How can I fix this, so it is back in English?

I can read files on a storage disk in the drive, but any install disk brings up "InstallShield Setup Launcher has encountered a problem and needs to close." Just as the s/w begins to install I get a fatal error - (something like) "Unable to create a file that already exists ... C:Progam FilesCommon FilesInstallshieldengine6Intel 32iuser.dll" Since I was able to install the s/w on a friend's similar PC I think the problem is a compatability or bug with XP and/or the Installshield appln on my machine.
I followed some suggestions (from the Installshield support site) and cleaned up my temp file, deleted the 'Engine 6' folder and reinstalled the Installshield 'ikernal.exe' but this hasn't helped. Surprisingly when I tried to reinstall the 'ikernal' it also runs into exactly the same error! - so there is some issue with how the Installshield (Engine 6) is working on my PC.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI bought a game today and wanted to install it. I put the cd in, and it says "The InstallShield Engine (ikernel.exe) could not be launched. No such interface supported." I've tried everything possible that google has to offer. I tried deleting the Engine file, but it won't delete. It would come right back. I tried looking for corrupt files in C:, nothing. I went to the Installshield consumers website. Nothing on there helped. I've tried all but downloading the latest version of ikernel, but the problem is I have to use the kernel program to install the latest kernel which isn't working. I hope that made sense. I saw I could use Windows Installer, but yeah I have no clue how to use that. I downloaded it, and I'm lost after that. It would be awesome if someone could give me walk through on using it or just tell me how to solve my original problem.
