Re-install windows xp. I boot from xp cd but only get as far as pressing f8 to accept the licensing agreement. The next page says that the installation cd cannot be read. I have used this cd in the past and it has worked ok.Do i just need to get hold of another copy of xp?

View 8 Replies View RelatedTrying to get the Photosmart C6280 drivers to install for the past few days. Whether it's installing from the CD or downloaded drivers, I still get the same message. Right before it starts to install the drivers, it says that some files need to be deleted and that I have to restart. So, I restart, and the installer comes back up, only to tell me to restart again. I got past this when I ran the installer in safe mode, but I was unable to start the Print Spooler to continue the setup.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI get this cyclic redundancy check error when I try to copy files from a DVD-RW onto my hard drive. I burnt said DVD about two years ago using Cyberlink DVD Solution Power2Go. I get this error with mulitiple DVDs, but not all of them (I've got five and I get this error with only three). Also, I get the error with some files, but not others (on the same DVD). I really can't lose these files! My guess is they were burnt wrong, but I'm really not sure. Is there any way I can recover these files?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have ms bundled on windows XP my hp pavilion 1335w. I have saved a lot of word processing documents for my new (3 mos.) job. Now when I try to re-open them for revisal, or even just to look at them, I get a msg in a small window that says "Works task launcher cannot open the file you selected. It may have been either moved or deleted." If I can't get to some of these, I will lose my job! And I don't even know where to go for help, this is the first place i've tried. Can someone either sove the problem, or tell me when I can go for the answer?

I've been trying to reinstall Windows on my other computer and I've read everything I could find on formatting the harddrive. I don't need to back anything up, as the said computer is my gaming machine. I need all files on my harddrive destroyed. My problem is this: I insert the Windows XP Home Edition setup disk and boot from that. When the option is presented to repair or create a new installation, I choose Create New Installation. I am not presented with I license agreement for some reason (apparently, I should be, if I'm reading instructions correctly). It skips directly to the partitions screen. I have two options: Partition1 Space [NTFS] (4095 MB Used 948 MB Free) and Unpartitioned Space (8MB). Needless to say neither of the free spaces are enough. I cannot delete Partition1, and can't install on unpartitioned space. So, this screen is as far as I can get.

I have three Pcs running on a wireless network and all systems have their pre-installed Microsoft Genuine XP Home Edition setup with their own different genuine Auth Licence Keys ! Just built a new system and was wondering if i could install XP Home on it and use pre-owned installation cd and use the same licence key again on this new built pc ? I assume I could do it, but what about the online registration needed to validate the product ?
1. Can I register this Licence key Again ?
2. Would it affect the other PC using the same Licence key ?
I am doing a repair install of my windows XP. The program is asking for the volume licence nr. When I enter the number on the disk it says that the nr is invalid. Is there any way to retrieve this information from my old installation. I cannot get into windows because of an Harddrive error that was repaired.

View 14 Replies View RelatedMy computer won't reboot. It started when I tried to update windows to sp2 and it had an error so it couldn't finish the update so it uninstalled whatever it installed. I rebooted and it goes into a loop, first the manufacture logo, the windows xp logo and it goes right back to the manufacture logo and starts that process again. I tried to go into safe mode and even the last best configuration to start and it still goes into this loop. What should I do? I don't want to reformat if I don't have too.

It is telling me: the file "asms" on windows xp home edition service pack 2 cd is needed. Type the path where the file is located and then click okay.I enter d: ( my cd drive) and nothing. it says: globalrootdevice cdromoi386 in the path line. nothing.
