When i open Firefox 3.0.12 my default browser, even though i`ve got "always show my home page when Firefox starts", set in tools/options/main, too frequently i get a blank page, no home page, and the area just above google is also blank.(see attachment).
View 11 RepliesI am using a computer with Win98se on it, but have been given one with XP Home loaded on it,which is a new "learning curve" for me. I like Excite as my home page,but am having trouble loading it on the XP machine. I have checked these forums and Googled it, but can't seem to find an answer to my particular problem. When I attempt to load Excite,all I get is a blank page with a left and right arrow and pause button in the middle left of the page. The address is correct on the address line.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.

If I right click on my ISP provider and click "open home page" then it will come up. I've tried various "solutions" yet still have problem. Even when the home page is up, the other is lurking behind it.

Hooked it up to my HP 722 printer, set it up, made it the default printer. When I go to print, a page comes out blank. I tried Word, Notepad, Wordpad, and still nothing. It does however print from the internet with no problem.

The fax preview shows the page I scanned plus a blank page. It also faxes out the extra blank page. Epson tech said it was XP, so I downloaded a trial version of another fax software. This time the fax preview showed and faxed just one page as it should.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen boot up the computer it opens up to a black page with white writing starting out with. The System is DELL Inspiron 6000 XP Laptop. It goes on for a few more paragraphs. You have options to start XP SAFE MODE, LAST KNOWN CONFIGERATION AND MORE. When ever you try to go into safe mode or any other option it just goes right back to the black page with white writing. The only thing different is, updated JAVA and that is when the problem started. He also mention a blue screen but I havent seen it yet. I know there is a conflict but I am unable to more forward at all to fix it.

Randomly I will get a blank white screen, or a white screen with vertical lines. When this happens the only thing I can do is turn the computer off. It has always rebooted successfully and no data has been lost, however it is a great annoyance. I have looked in the event viewer and don't find anything unusual.

I have read this link, and I do have Plug and Play selected for auto and it is active. I even de-selected rebooted, then selected again and re-booted but to no avail.

Zone alarm asked and I accepted.When I did all Weather bug added them selves to my address bar (at the top along with back, stop, refresh, home, etc.putting 2 icons that were not there before, their icon along with another showing what the weather was. Also weatherbug put in a 'search bar'like yahoo has.I certainly did not ask for this.My links bar disappeared. The links that were showing on the bar below the address were now listed on the right side as links, which I had to click on to get the list of what was originally showing.I am using XP.I could not get the link bar back, I didn't know how, so I used the restore point from yesterday.Now my home page looks like it should.Actually my question is, I am really irritated with Weatherbug, I don;t like that they just took over my home page and changed it.I am thinking
of deleting the program and using another weather program. What weather program would you suggest in place of Weather bug?
My sister's Windows XP Home Edition isn't loading. It turns on, appears with a screen that asks to pick between Safe Mode etc, Last Known Config. & Start normally... I've tried all three, safe mode starts to load but doesn't get to the log in screen. Last known and start normally sounds like it is beginning to load but it goes straight to a blank screen.
At one stage, after I turned off and on the computer, the screen alerts me that the CMOS settings are wrong, so I go into the settings and the time and date is wrong...I adjust these to the correct settings, restart and still, nothing loads.
