While Loading Home Page - Blank Page

I am using a computer with Win98se on it, but have been given one with XP Home loaded on it,which is a new "learning curve" for me. I like Excite as my home page,but am having trouble loading it on the XP machine. I have checked these forums and Googled it, but can't seem to find an answer to my particular problem. When I attempt to load Excite,all I get is a blank page with a left and right arrow and pause button in the middle left of the page. The address is correct on the address line.

I often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.

When i open Firefox 3.0.12 my default browser, even though i`ve got "always show my home page when Firefox starts", set in tools/options/main, too frequently i get a blank page, no home page, and the area just above google is also blank.(see attachment).

I have tried doing this myself using some of the other examples on this site but they are just dissimilar enough that I am obviously missing somehting. I do all the steps but then the about:blank keeps coming back as my default home page and I also get some porno favorites every time too

when I connect to the internet (dial up), my home page doesn't come up, instead I get a "page cannot be displayed. If I right click on my ISP provider and click "open home page" then it will come up. I've tried various "solutions" yet still have problem. Even when the home page is up, the other is lurking behind it.

I just starting using another computer and found out that it does not have a parallel port for my printer. So I purchased a usb - parallel cable. Hooked it up to my HP 722 printer, set it up, made it the default printer. When I go to print, a page comes out blank. I tried Word, Notepad, Wordpad, and still nothing. It does however print from the internet with no problem.

i've ran spybot adware and i am still getting advertisements that do not come up on certain websites ie: this page cannot be displayed or a blank spot with an "x" through it, and there should be some sort of picture in that spot.

I have an Epson RX500 all-in-one. When I use the "copy to fax" in the Epson Smart Panel, it sends the scan to XP's fax software. The fax preview shows the page I scanned plus a blank page. It also faxes out the extra blank page. Epson tech said it was XP, so I downloaded a trial version of another fax software. This time the fax preview showed and faxed just one page as it should.

I have a fairly new PC, less than 2 years old.It was the fastest processor at the time.But I don't know exactly what it is.It was built specially for me by a reputable computer shop.They built my last one as well but it was almost 9 years old so that's why the new one.It's running XP Home.I have a comic site and the home page has 40 comics on it.It used to load right up but recently it has been very slow to load. Now it won't even load all of the comics.I have to view them on a separate page.

I'm trying to save certain guitar sites to my Favourites and I'd like to be able to view them with conecting to the internet. I'm guessing this should be done with the "Make Available Offline" bit but evertime I try to do it I still get a blank page.

When boot up the computer it opens up to a black page with white writing starting out with. The System is DELL Inspiron 6000 XP Laptop. It goes on for a few more paragraphs. You have options to start XP SAFE MODE, LAST KNOWN CONFIGERATION AND MORE. When ever you try to go into safe mode or any other option it just goes right back to the black page with white writing. The only thing different is, updated JAVA and that is when the problem started. He also mention a blue screen but I havent seen it yet. I know there is a conflict but I am unable to more forward at all to fix it.

When I click on Yahoo Mail it just goes to a blank page and acts like it is going back and forth through 2 pages. It never gets me to a sign in screen. I go to another computer and try it and it works fine. You can hear clicking like it is going through pages back and forth.

When I try to send a multi-page fax from WORD or Power-Point, only the first page or slide appears in the FAX. This is a recently developed problem. I've successfully sent multi-page FAXes in the past.

i ve got something called a Phishing filter on vister home premium its listed on internet settings advanced.
Can t figure out what this does, every 2 or 3 site i visit it seems to be searching for something before that page can load its very annoying and really seems to slow things a bunch, and this setting has a yellow (!) mark on it, when i click it off it sometimes comes bk on or after i reboot it resets itself back to on, how do i fix this and hope it stays off

I spend enough time reading this forum, figured it was time to register and jump in. I am running XP pro and have an older hp photosmart 8450. upon every reboot of my computer i get taken to this link C:Program FilesHewlett-Packard{AAC4FC36-8F89-4587-8DD3-EBC57C83374D}Congrats8400demo.htm..it is the page that says "congrats your hp printer is installed" and allows you to print a demo page. i went into my program files and found the link and it is located in a folder called "congrats". in this folder is another folder called "images" and three html files with the little ie icon next to them, one is called "8400 demo", the other "test_page" and the other "7400_test_page".can i just delete these things to stop it from running on restarting my pc?

I've messed up something to do with Internet Explorer. First of all, when I open IE all I get is a blank page. No error message or anything. I try to go to a site and the address bar stays at "http:///". I tried repairing my Windows 2000 installation and it didn't help at all. Now it's reverted back to IE5 and Outlook Express 5. So I tried to reinstall IE6 by downloading the installation file and running it. I'm trying to help a neighbor with his PC. Last night he started having a problem (just all of a sudden out-of-the-blue) with no apparent reason or self-inflicted cause. He said he had not done anything unusual on his PC, and had only replied to a few emails over the last couple of days from family members (which did not have any attachments). He is using IE7. Here is what happens: When he opens a browser page (his home page is the Charter Communication News home page for customers), as soon as it finishes downloading (within 2 seconds) the browser page just disappears...as if it was exited. All other aspects of his PC works fine.
Here is what I did: I ran his three virus protections (AVG, McAfee & Nortons) as well as Ad-Adware, which only found low risk items that were deleted. I cleaned up his files, cookies, etc. and defragmented his hard drive. After re-starting the PC the browser page stayed up a little longer (maybe 4-5 seconds)...probably because I had deleted the cookies and it just took longer to fully download......

System Restore window is completely blank.Windows Update page displays the following message even though the ActiveX control is already installed. Also, the Information bar does not appear, thus you're unable to re-install the Windows Update ActiveX control.install the ActiveX control required to view the website
Help and Support pages are incomplete.System Information utility (MSINFO32) displays a blank window.

I got this error when I installed Advance System Care and when i scanned my USB with noob killer. Then the P.C restarted and it started to displays the page fault in non page area. The problem is when i boot in window xp cd it display this BOD error and when i boot Safe mode and Start windows normally it only reboot the P.C. So there is no way i can access the control tab window xp

My computer is very very slow, I don'i think is the dsl but the os because it take long time to load a page for example when Ill click on firefox it take 20 to 30 second to load the page than when the page is loaded and i switche web page it load very quickly, same think when i'm tryng to upload the outlook express more than 40 second to upload the program, and when performing multitask everything it slow doan even more, even opening tha my computer file it take 5/10 second.
