Phishing Filter - Before Loading Any Page

i ve got something called a Phishing filter on vister home premium its listed on internet settings advanced.
Can t figure out what this does, every 2 or 3 site i visit it seems to be searching for something before that page can load its very annoying and really seems to slow things a bunch, and this setting has a yellow (!) mark on it, when i click it off it sometimes comes bk on or after i reboot it resets itself back to on, how do i fix this and hope it stays off

My computer is taking a long time to open web pages..."the phishing filter is checking this site" seems like a really long time. Is there something to make this a quicker process? Is it safe to just turn it off? Even when i tried to open this site it took like a minute!

I am using a computer with Win98se on it, but have been given one with XP Home loaded on it,which is a new "learning curve" for me. I like Excite as my home page,but am having trouble loading it on the XP machine. I have checked these forums and Googled it, but can't seem to find an answer to my particular problem. When I attempt to load Excite,all I get is a blank page with a left and right arrow and pause button in the middle left of the page. The address is correct on the address line.

I have a fairly new PC, less than 2 years old.It was the fastest processor at the time.But I don't know exactly what it is.It was built specially for me by a reputable computer shop.They built my last one as well but it was almost 9 years old so that's why the new one.It's running XP Home.I have a comic site and the home page has 40 comics on it.It used to load right up but recently it has been very slow to load. Now it won't even load all of the comics.I have to view them on a separate page.

I spend enough time reading this forum, figured it was time to register and jump in. I am running XP pro and have an older hp photosmart 8450. upon every reboot of my computer i get taken to this link C:Program FilesHewlett-Packard{AAC4FC36-8F89-4587-8DD3-EBC57C83374D}Congrats8400demo.htm..it is the page that says "congrats your hp printer is installed" and allows you to print a demo page. i went into my program files and found the link and it is located in a folder called "congrats". in this folder is another folder called "images" and three html files with the little ie icon next to them, one is called "8400 demo", the other "test_page" and the other "7400_test_page".can i just delete these things to stop it from running on restarting my pc?

I'm trying to help a neighbor with his PC. Last night he started having a problem (just all of a sudden out-of-the-blue) with no apparent reason or self-inflicted cause. He said he had not done anything unusual on his PC, and had only replied to a few emails over the last couple of days from family members (which did not have any attachments). He is using IE7. Here is what happens: When he opens a browser page (his home page is the Charter Communication News home page for customers), as soon as it finishes downloading (within 2 seconds) the browser page just disappears...as if it was exited. All other aspects of his PC works fine.
Here is what I did: I ran his three virus protections (AVG, McAfee & Nortons) as well as Ad-Adware, which only found low risk items that were deleted. I cleaned up his files, cookies, etc. and defragmented his hard drive. After re-starting the PC the browser page stayed up a little longer (maybe 4-5 seconds)...probably because I had deleted the cookies and it just took longer to fully download......

My computer is very very slow, I don'i think is the dsl but the os because it take long time to load a page for example when Ill click on firefox it take 20 to 30 second to load the page than when the page is loaded and i switche web page it load very quickly, same think when i'm tryng to upload the outlook express more than 40 second to upload the program, and when performing multitask everything it slow doan even more, even opening tha my computer file it take 5/10 second.

For some reason when I try to go to certain websites, i get a smart filter 403 forbidden error. I never installed any smart filter software on my computer? What could tbe problem be? My parents never installed anything on my computer. I'm confused. I cant find anything on add/remove programs

I just installed IE 8 on my notebook (WinXPsp3) and enable "SmartScreen Filter." However, when I exit IE 8 and then re-enter IE 8, the "SmartScreen Filter" is OFF.Someone said it should always be ON.
Does anyone know why mine is turning OFF when I exit IE 8? Is that somethihg that happens with notebooks?
Any suggestions on how to keep "SmartScreen Filter" always turned ON?

I'm looking for the best Internet web filter available for Windows XP that provides the ability to be as transparent as possible. The idea isto be able to manage a filtering system without worrying about computersavy kids figuring out how to get into it and take control. Ideally thefilter would not show up anywhere in the windows GUI; for example, noicons/shortcuts or menu items created. If it can't be completelytransparent, at least something that can be configured to be highlyobscure.

Does anyone know of a good anti spam filter I can download, please, to filter out spam BEFORE it gets to my in box in Outlook Express?someone suggested mailwasher, but apparently you have to go thru mailwasher first, a little inconvenient.I know Zone Alarm and Norton filter it out before it goes in, but separate from that, is there another programme that I can download that does it the same way??I am tired of getting a couple genuine emails, and 20-30 spam ...

I am trying to install XP Home Edition on an ECS KT600-A motherboard with an 80 gig hard drive and I get a message on the desktop that the VIA CPU to AGP 2.0/AGP 3.0 Controller is missing.
The message also states that the driver I need to correct this problem is on the VIA AGP Filter Driver Disk. I have tried to find this disk to download it but I have not been able to find it.
Does anyone know where I can download this disk? If so, what is the webaddress where I can download it?

someone sent me a wordpad doc and when i tried to open it this is what it said, unable to load graphics conversion filter do you want to continue anyway, so i clicked yes. and only the text appeared in the doc. now i'm guessing the doc contains graphics of some sort but i am unable to load them. is there a way i can load these graphics? do i need the conversion filter? if so were do i get this from.

How come when I tried to update outlook 2003 junk email filter it keeps saying it failed. Then I tried to go to the website to download directly from them instead of windows but it still did not work. Also, when it said that i need to install activeX it failed because it does not know publisher. and the icon keeps popping up saying I have to update but everytime I try to update it it keep failing.

I often right click in IE and select Create Shortcut.It puts a shortcut and my desktop to that page. This mysteriously stopped working. The icon appears on my desktop with the page title and all, but when I double click it, it just opens up my browser and loads about:blank.In the shortcut file's properties, and then gives me the file's size, location,etc.but it doesn't list the URL anywhere. It's just getting on my nerves having to copy a page's URL to a text file on my desktop if I want to remind myself of something.

I got a new motherboard installed because my old one fried itself and the pc was reformatted and windows was reinstalled. Since then, it was working fine. The start-up time had also lowered considerably and it was working perfectly for once.One thing that's been happening for a while, my computer started taking longer to start-up. I figured it was just all the programs etc I have installed. Then, I have this one external drive that I got connected internally. There were times where it wouldn't recognize this drive; it wouldn't show up on My Computer. Otherwise, it was perfectly fine. one of my most important drives (E) has been missing for the last 2 days. it hasn't shown up even once and i'm really worried i've lost data and need to recover it.

I got this error when I installed Advance System Care and when i scanned my USB with noob killer. Then the P.C restarted and it started to displays the page fault in non page area. The problem is when i boot in window xp cd it display this BOD error and when i boot Safe mode and Start windows normally it only reboot the P.C. So there is no way i can access the control tab window xp
