View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a computer with Win98se on it, but have been given one with XP Home loaded on it,which is a new "learning curve" for me. I like Excite as my home page, but am having trouble loading it on the XP machine. I have checked these forums and Googled it, but can't seem to find an answer to my particular problem. When I attempt to load Excite, all I get is a blank page with a left and right arrow and pause button in the middle left of the page. The address is correct on the address line.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have had weatherbug for years and thought it was a good program.Today weather bug wanted to me to click on an 'update'. Zone alarm asked and I accepted. When I did all Weather bug added them selves to my address bar (at the top along with back, stop, refresh, home, etc.putting 2 icons that were not there before, their icon along with another showing what the weather was. Also weatherbug put in a 'search bar'like yahoo has.I certainly did not ask for this.My links bar disappeared. The links that were showing on the bar below the address were now listed on the right side as links, which I had to click on to get the list of what was originally showing.I am using XP.I could not get the link bar back, I didn't know how, so I used the restore point from yesterday. Now my home page looks like it should.Actually my question is, I am really irritated with Weatherbug, I don;t like that they just took over my home page and changed it.I am thinking
of deleting the program and using another weather program. What weather program would you suggest in place of Weather bug?
I am having a problem whereby my IE keeps setting the default home page to www.searchdom.com, i can see this in the log, can someone give me some guidance on what to do / delete.

View 7 Replies View RelatedLast week, my home page was hijacked by spyware (I think), it was actually 2 pages in length, the bottom of first page was a note "Removal instructions". I have windows XP SP2.I was able to go into the registry, with the help of another forum, and delete the offending file. Now my home page is white with my general icons, (I used to have the pretty beach picture of windows XP). I can't seem to restore the picture.I have also discovered the same file in "my computer" in system 32. When I press delete the icon disappears for about 3 seconds and then returns. The files name is "Twain Tech" and in system 32 as "Twunk 16" and "Twunk 32"

View 11 Replies View RelatedSome how last night while browsing around some Trojan or spyware got into my system.
I was able to eliminate it using both McAfee and SpywareBot. Though I noticed that I am no longer able to apply a desktop wall paper.
Every time I try I get a prompt that states: Can not find file ///F:/WINDOWS/privacy_danger/index.htm. Make sure the path or internet address incorrect.
What would I need to do in order to correct this "error" if that is even possible?
Secondly when all of this occurred it changed the home page I had set in IE to the following: http://ucleaner.com/main.php?wmid=60...o4OQ==&lndid=2
I am having concern spyaxe and seems to be going around a bit. I have tried to trouble shoot it myself but im just getting different error messages popping up and my home page has been hijacked.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got this **** virus that hijacks your homepage and generally drives you crazy. I've run Spybot, Adware, Norton, etc and they clean everything except this virus. I've run HJT and will post the log here. Oddly enough I think I go tthis yesterday while updating XP from the Microsoft site.
One other possibly related thing is that I can run more than one user account simultaneously. If I try to switch to another user account it just cycles and then comes right back to the log on screen.
Here's the log files from a few mintes ago. Was tempted to delete it all but being a novice I figured I'd blow up the whole system.
I use an ADSL Ethernet router in the office. I can bring up its login page if I connect the office Windows 2000 PC directly to it via an ethernet cable and type the router IP address in the address line in Internet Explorer. However, at home, if I connect my Windows XP Home edition PC directly to the router with the same ethernet cable, and use the same router IP addreess to try and access the login page, it cannnot access it.The onboard etherent connection is working and I have the same network protocols installed on the XP PC, and have disabled the Windows Firewall but I still cannot bring up the login page.
