One quick way to speed up launching internet explorer is to not set a home page.By using a blank home page internet explorer does not have to use additional cpu time and uses the hard drive less.After all most of the time you want to go to a different site right away so it is not going to affect your productivity at all

View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I put a DVD into one of my drives, Media Center automatically launches. Drives me insane. This version came pre-installed and I NEVER use it except with my XBOX 360.
1. Both drives are set to ignore all disc types in the AutoPlay properties.
2. There is no setting (I can see) within Media Center to disable this autolaunch.

If I right click on my ISP provider and click "open home page" then it will come up. I've tried various "solutions" yet still have problem. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 5 hard drives in my system, but, at most only C and D (2 drives) really need to be enabled, so what I do is disable the other 3 by right click on the drive, select the appropriate drive and in the properties tag, select DISABLE THIS HARDWARE.When required, just enable it.Question is, when disabled, is power actually removed off that hard drive, or is there a quiescent current (small current) still flowing in the electronics of the drive that is disabled?

If you would disable sata native mode then boot from the xp cd it should show the hard drive and any partitions. The biggest chore may be getting the drivers needed for XP and if is a laptop they rarely come with a floppy drive, so during the xp install I don't know if after you press F6 if you can remove the xp cd and put in a cd that you burned the needed drivers to if a floppy is not available. People should have the freedom to choose whatever operating system they want without all of the headaches

Zone alarm asked and I accepted.When I did all Weather bug added them selves to my address bar (at the top along with back, stop, refresh, home, etc.putting 2 icons that were not there before, their icon along with another showing what the weather was. Also weatherbug put in a 'search bar'like yahoo has.I certainly did not ask for this.My links bar disappeared. The links that were showing on the bar below the address were now listed on the right side as links, which I had to click on to get the list of what was originally showing.I am using XP.I could not get the link bar back, I didn't know how, so I used the restore point from yesterday.Now my home page looks like it should.Actually my question is, I am really irritated with Weatherbug, I don;t like that they just took over my home page and changed it.I am thinking

I have windows XP SP2.I was able to go into the registry, with the help of another forum, and delete the offending file. Now my home page is white with my general icons, (I used to have the pretty beach picture of windows XP). I can't seem to restore the picture.I have also discovered the same file in "my computer" in system 32. When I press delete the icon disappears for about 3 seconds and then returns. The files name is "Twain Tech" and in system 32 as "Twunk 16" and "Twunk 32"

I was able to eliminate it using both McAfee and SpywareBot. Though I noticed that I am no longer able to apply a desktop wall paper.

But this is a new day maybe a year or so later, NOW I do have Real Arcade again and the puky Realplayer and now again on my Comcast homepage in the lower left corner I am getting that little yellow warning Icon. Wehen I double click it I am told my page may not be dislaying right, and then when I go get details its obviously tied up with RealMedia ads and maybe Symantec ?? heres what the details say: Line 48 Char 3 Error 'SymRealWinOpen" is undefined Code: 0 then this which takes me nowhere: url:http://oascentral.comcast.net/REalMe. the numbers in the long url are always different but everything around them is exactly the same.
