Aug 5, 2005I think that I have a virus which is stopping me from 1) Installing Norton Internet Security 2005 properly, and 2) Stopping me from accessing all anti-virus related sites, for example - www.symantec.com, ww.grisoft.com, www.pandasoftware.com, and when i tried to download AVG 6.0 from another site which was unrelated to antivirus, I found that I could access the site but the download failed.

Sep 19, 2006I've been trying to make print easier to read since I got WinsXP SP2, but now I've messed around where I shouldn't be and have ended up w/GIGANTIC print on websites such as this one. (Much bigger than the type you're probably seeing here.)I was fooling around in Ctrl Panel and reset some size options. I thought I was in device mgr, but can't retrace my steps...but I was DEFINETLY somewhere in the Ctrl Panel.

Jun 9, 2008Well i got this computer from a friend. But i wanted to install it into a different case so we moved everything over to my custom case. Then when trying to boot windows it just crashes/or reboots the computer. I'm trying to boot windows xp sp1 new install... I have an abit an7 motherboard with 2 gigs of ram. a geforce 6200 LE graphics card. and a liteon cdr dvd reader. I'm not sure of the hard drive all i know is when i hook my hard drive up into another computer it boots just fine. Also to mention when i try to reinstall windows it crashes at the exact same spot (many different cds) ive got as far as booting into windows to the setup part and bam BSOD.. i've tried many other forums and no one seems to want to help me some one PLEASE I BEG OF YOU!

Dec 3, 2004I'm looking for an application that will give me the power of windows xp "group policy" but will allow me to give different permissions to different users, or to different groups on a local machine.I'm running an internet cafe, and have serious problems restricting users permissions.The internet cafe software I use (cybercafe pro) doesn't run on a restricted user account (I'll be glad if you can recomend me another software).I want the users to be unable to download or install any program, and if they manage to get out of the internet cafe software, not to be able to see the "start" button, or the desktop.

Sep 9, 2008This has happened on two computers: my wife's and my parents'. Automatic updating is turned on. My wife's computer suddenly lost Internet service upon reboot. I checked everything. She had access to the Linksys router, the network properties showed she was connected to the Internet and, most importantly, I, on another computer, was connected (my auto updates was turned off). I fixed the problem by going to the Device Manager, uninstalling the network card and then scanning for hardware changes. Bing! Working again.Two days later I'm at my parents' house. I turned on their computer, updates were installed and the system restarted. Again, no Internet service despite all apparent "go" connections. Uninstalled the network card, rebooted and it worked again.
I keep my updates off because NetFramework 2 wreaks havoc with a library program I have, so no NetFramework at all. And I've had no problems. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems? My wife had spent more than an hour on the phone with a tech support guy at Linksys and he had her setting up her notebook computer and changing its settings. When I got home, she was right in the middle of working with a computer that wasn't the problem. I guess this guy was paid by the hour because he was in no hurry to wrap everything up. But he told my wife that he works for several companies in tech support (real surprise there) and that MS "updates" create numerous "issues" I think they call them now.

May 28, 2007I have a nightmare with my notebook which is installed with Norton Internet Security.On booting up the notebook, a triangular icon(inside with an exclamation mark or an X)appeared on the bottom right bar. Oct 29, 2006My EZ security software expired and within a couple of days I couldn't access the Internet. I have since installed Norton 2006 and ran a scan but I still can't access. I can use Outlook Express OK though. I followed instructions off another site which is recommended before posting a HijackThis log. I ran the ATF Cleaner, then created a restore point. I then ran Ad-aware SE bt couldn't run the webupdate feature as I have no internet connection due to this problem. I ran the scan anyway. I then ran AVG Anti-spyware though again couldn't update the definition files because I couldn't connect due to the problem I have. I ran the scan anyway. I couldn't run the Panda Activescan because I again can't connect. I have attached the report from the AVG Anti-spyware scan along with the HijackThis report and uninstall_list. I am posting this from my friends PC so will have to go back and forward to do what you recommend.

Oct 14, 2005Having just updated to the Antispam version of NIS my System Restore now refuses to operate properly. I can open it (sometimes) but as soon as I try to do anything with it it hangs. Most other programs are not affected except as I close IE now, I get an error message "The instruction at "1x127cfb80" referenced memory at"0x0215ad58". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program." This may or may not be related.I tried removing NIS 2005 and System Restore came back to normal but having reinstalled - the problem now re-occurs. Symantec website is useless and I cannot find any telephone numbers.Has anyone else had a similar problem?
