View 5 RepliesI've just installed a new voip router alongside my broadband router and it all worked fine. Sadly I can't log on to "My Ebay" page and a couple of other sites which I log into, I can access the home pages it's just the log in sections I can't access.
I've tried deleting my cookies in the Internet Options area, but I still can't log in, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do next or what the problem might be
I've got this **** virus that hijacks your homepage and generally drives you crazy. I've run Spybot, Adware, Norton, etc and they clean everything except this virus. I've run HJT and will post the log here. Oddly enough I think I go tthis yesterday while updating XP from the Microsoft site.
One other possibly related thing is that I can run more than one user account simultaneously. If I try to switch to another user account it just cycles and then comes right back to the log on screen.
Here's the log files from a few mintes ago. Was tempted to delete it all but being a novice I figured I'd blow up the whole system.
I am trying to place an order on Buy.com and it will not let me log in on my Windows XP machine. When I try to log in I get a "We were unable to access the page you requested. Our server may be busy. Please wait a few seconds, then try again. "when I try to place something in the cart w/o being logged in I get a "Your Shopping Basket is Empty If you have tried to add an item to your basket and the basket is still empty, you may not have "cookies" enabled on your browser. View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled windows XP home edition to counteract a virus. Everthing's working fine now from what I can tell, except sound. the troublshooting provided by windows so far hasn't turned up anything and the updating from windows' site hasn't helped either. my control panel says that only my usb device is being read although the speaker system is hooked up exactly as before.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to cleanup a machine running Windows 2000 (not sure what release).I've run AntiVir, Spybot, Adaware, and CWShredder, but am still experiencig problems. For example, I can't change the default home URL from 'about:blank'. AntiVir found many archieves (probably more than 30) with 'infected file' that couldn't be deleted. Most of them appeared to be .dat files, but one was a .cab file (polmx2), which I suspect is part of the problem. I'm also guessing there may be hidden files becuase I couldn't 'find' them in Windows.

View 2 Replies View RelatedA site http://icsfamily.com, When I browse using IE 6 from specific machine, and afterlogin if I stay in site and browse to different pages, or surf out and in again I am asked to log in again. The problem started only now, when using Mozilla it is OK, when using IE on another machine it is also OK. When I login and open cookie folder I see the file and actually see it disappear few seconds after. I have sent the cookie to the support guys, but they said its OK and am sure the problem is my side as Mozilla is OK and other machines are OK.

View 1 Replies View RelatedCookies are no longer being saved to my cookie folder in C:Documents and Settings User Name Cookies, but rather to a newly created folder in C:WindowsCookies. Very annoying as I clear this folder everyday. I have not visited any new sites which could redirect the folder. I have not downloaded any new programs or made any changes to my system which might have cause this. I have tried a system restore, but the does nothing. I have tried deleting the cookie folder in C:Documents and Settings User Name Cookies, hoping that on reboot it would recreate itself, however the system will not allow me to delete a "required folder". I have tried to cut and paste the folder in C:Windows to no avail. error message. cannot move, being used by another person or program.

Some sites , like this one, I can log on but it won't remember me & I have to log in again. I am constantly getting the Security Alert banner on the screen. The one about the certificates. I tried going to the Elder Geek for IE repair but it said I need the Service pak CD and I don't have that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI find tracking cookies on my machine all the time. Casalemedia, hitbox and a host of others. If I quarantine them, will the websites that installed them install another instance of them? Or will the website see that it is on my machine and leave it alone? I suppose the fact that it's quarantined means that it won't be able to be noticed and will get reinstalled? Correct?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI did for a while activate the "prompt" alternative on Favorites/Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced to block unwanted cookies. Then I blocked cookies from a site that I usually visit, marking the "always." option. The result was that I was blocked from entering the site. I then reversed all of my previous actions, letting the browser deal automatically with cookies as it saw fit (greying out all the rest of the alternatives on that window), restarted the computer and returned to the site. But all I get is a pop-up saying "You must activate cookies on your browser", at various stages, sometimes after I give the password and all, sometimes as soon as the home window comes up. I repeated all the a/m actions several times, but with the same result. I have XP with SP2, IE6, Pentium d.
Any help will be appreciated - Amos.

View 39 Replies View RelatedMy PC recently got a fairly nasty virus (W32-Sinowal-based Maximus! or something along those lines) so we had to get it wiped. A few days later, my computer was all messed up again. I can only boot up in Safe Mode, my sound doesn't work, and it is running slower than normal. I need to find out if I have another virus (although the guy who fixed it downloaded Norton Anti-Virus and it seemed fine for a few days) or if maybe my computer is just dying. It's about three years old and apparently it was outdated before we even bought it. Is there any way the virus could have affected the computer's hard drive or whatever (yeah, I don't quite know what I'm talking about) or have I maybe gotten another virus?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a trojan Virus in the computer. I think that I got rid of it, but I am not sure could anyone that can read a log please tell me if there is anything else left in the computer. The computer now doesn't stay on-line it disconnects itself. I called the company that provides me with my internet service, and they said that I need a filter for the phone line. The person told me that, that will take care of the problem of the internet disconnecting. I think that it could be the virus I had in the computer. I wasn't able to get on-line for at least a week, I had gone and checked the disk for errors and finally the anti-virus program was able to find the virus's.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently was infected with a computer virus. Norton AntiVirus 2003 initially caught the virus and it supposedly deleted it, so I was not concerned with the message details. However, almost immediately after receiving the message I realized the virus was not completely removed. A DOS window popped up two or three times and then Norton shutdown. I tried opening Norton again but it would not open. I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it would not reinstall. I tried the Windows Update site and the page shows no conent. Any ideas on how to identify the virus so I can take steps to remove it?
