ok i am trying to format my hard drive and reintaling my windows XP b/c right now im running windows xp spanish and i want english.. so when i try to boot in the CD. i go into the windows setup blue screen. but from there it doesnt advance. what can i do?

View 2 Replies View Relatedcomputer started to run very poorly: lagging, freezing up, windows end task etc finnaly one day it would not go into desktop. would only give option to start in normal mode or safe mode. so i tried starting in both but would only restart into the same option screen.I decided it was best to format harddrive and reload windows. insert windows disk and proceeded to format partition and reinstall windows. it formats all that way to 90 % and then states cannot format partition further, harddrive problems and to trouble shoot manual. tried quick format and repair but still nothing.tried restarting without reinstall disk. says cant access OS of course!

I received "Uniblue Registry Booster 2010" in Spanish on a CD. if I install "Uniblue Registry Booster in Spanish on a Window XP platform that is in English, will the registry repair software be able to read the registry keys to repair/clean. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with accented characters. When I write myself, If I use Times New Roman all accented characters will be changed to some strange symbol. Even if I change the character with the dictionary program, it will automatically change back to the strange symbols. This problem I have overcome, by using ARIAL. The real problem is, that the e-mail I receive in aforeign language, it has the same strange characters. I have also installed on Oxford English-Spanish dictionary. Even the writing on this dictionary gets changed from the original characters. This is an example (Desesperaciçn) the o gets changed into a ç. Or an è gets also changed into ç. If I log into a non English WWW site, even on those pages it will change the accented characters to some strange simbols.

I've been having some internet connectivity problems lately, and I believe it's due to some nasty spyware. I've already gone through all the steps to correct this (checking my DSL speed, anti-spyware scans, anti-virus scans, doing it all in safe mode, even reset my winsock.dll, etc.) but I'm still having problems with slow browsers. So now I think I'm faced with reinstalling Windows XP. My question is, should I do a format & reinstall, or is it better to reinstall Windows over my existing version? I have a Compaq Presario, and it comes with a Recovery CD.

Now the installation process seems stuck (40 min or so) at the "Please wait while files are copied onto the HDD yada yada" phase. Should I just reboot and try again? Do I need to format again? Will load SmartDrive this time.

However, the info to re-format my Win XP HD seems to be highly classified and compartmentalized, and although I've looked, I can't seem to find any step by step instructions on how to do it without creating a bootable floppy disk, as my computer has 2 DVD drives but no floppy drive, and even if that were not a problem, finding the correct application/s to do the job and using it/them in the correct sequence also seems to be well hidden and a mystery.Can some one please point me to a document that goes through this procedure step by step, that is how to re-format an NTFS HD and re-install Win XP without a floppy drive.

If more than one Internet Explorer windows are opened, or if applications like ADOBE Photoshop are used, the system slows down to almost a standstill. Even using the Windows Task Manager to shut down certain processes doesn't help.
I've run virus scans and spyware scans and the problem still persists.
Installed Windows XP Pro on a laptop and have "activated it" does this mean that if I ever have to format the machine and reinstall windows I won't be able to register the same copy again or is there a limit to the amount or activates?

in the DOS menu of the windows xp installation, a user is usually given an option to delete and created a new partition, upon doing so, the user will be given two choices:
1-format partition into ntfs (fast)
2-format partition into ntfs
I just formatted my laptop, and for some reason when it boots it makes me choose which windows media center to use, there's 2 options both say windows media center... i formatted it i dont understand how thats still there..?

(I got the "Strike F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility" message).I changed the order to the disk drive under the setup utility and was able to get it to recognize the Windows XP Install CD but that's where I'm unsure what to do. It gives me the option to either set up Windows or repair using Recovery Console.If I reinstall will I lose all the files on my computer? Error Code is 14."Hardrive seems to work properly becuase I can load windows and do any non-network function.My Reason for ReinstallationRecently messed up my registries accidently concerning installation and uninstallation of AOL and no longer have networking LAN or wireless functions. So for me, "Reformat time." I wanted a clean install anyways. No other hardrives are present, nor are there any other partitions. Currently doing DiskCheck (stage 4 of 5) but so far the disk is not damaged and is normal.My Windows Setup Disk is official and I have tested other Windows setup disks with my laptop but none work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHad to reformat my drive and now whenever i use my win xp sp2 install disc...i first format the drive and create the proper partition..the windows disc then starts copying files to the computer but at a point i get an error message saying that windows setup cannot copy the file...and it tells me which file. I redid this several times and each time at a some point in the copying it gives me this error...each time with a different file name
What should i do at this stage?
