"you have JavaScript turned off " this message turned up once. I get pictures in the email or in programs and I get a big white squre with a little stamp in the upper left corner. is there some way to get the picture? I do not know what javascript is or how to turn it on.

having a problem with my computer. when i visit Internet.com to watch videos, sometimes i get a message that says this: "hello, you either have javascript turned off or an old version of adobe's flash player. get the latest flash player." the video does not play. however, other videos load up just fine. the same thing happens on myspace videos. also, if i go to websites that have flash based games, they work just fine. what could be going on here? i am running windows xp.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhenever I try to do pretty much anything I get a "javascript:void(0)" error... let me explain: If I try to read my hotmail, for example, if I try to read, delete, send, mail or whatever on MSN, it just doesn't load and says javascript:void(0). If I try to go to Windows Update, same thing happened. If I try to run help and support, or try to run a Restore point, the thing goes blank, doing nothing. If I try to watch music videos from let's say, MTV, VH1, AOL, etc. nothing works. If I try to open Windows Media Player, it gives some internal server error and closes...........

Decided to try the on board again, worked.Now it said there was a boot error at drive B. I didnt think I had a drive mapped to B.I ran a DOS boot disk and did a fdisk and it said there were no fixed drives, so I figured that it was a bad HD, got a new HD, changed it, still a problem. I have to start out with the DOS disk then I can pop in a Win2K boot disk and tryed to install. Cant find the setup or install file on Boot Disk 1. Wont boot from CD to install 2K.

As far as I know JavaScript is already enabled on each computer. All are running XP and all are updated w/ both SP1 and SP2. I went to about.com to test if I had JavaScript enabled and it said I did. I have used CCleaner, Spybot S&D, MS Mal Removal Tool, I have, I have updated Sun Java and I unchecked Save Temp java files in Control Panel.This helped but the problem is growing again.
I was checking out web set linkware, one of the pages had a box pop up to click OK to run script. This was on a lot of other pages on the same site and worked with no problem. This time there was no java on the page. I am wondering if this caused the problem and how do I fix it? I'm attaching some of the CCleaner logs from today.
When trying to enter into a chat with my ISP technical support, I got a message saying Javascript needs to be enabled/installed. How do I do this? I know Microsoft does not particularly like Javascript (but I think it's here to stay).Is Sun better than Microsoft? TIA

Also there is problem with my internet explorer. The Javascript is not working IE. The javascript option is enabled in internet options. On Experts advise from forums I tried registering javscript dll but it fails to register. I think due to some related problem with this the the texts typing in Yahoo mesenger is also not visible.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMacAfee automatically updated and said it needed to restart. So I hit restart as nothing was running at the time. When the computer tried to restart it took FOREVER, at least 5 minutes. When it finally did come up, none of the links work. I treid to get into System Restore, it said System Restore had been turned off. News to me I never turn System Restore off. No access to the internet. Go to printers it shows no printers installed. Most programs, if you try to run them they either don't open, or open and close abruptly, or with McAfee it opens with nothing inside the box. Or if you try to do something like turn the System Restore on, the program stops responding. I actually did a registry edit to turn it on, but it still won't let me set a new restore point, and it says there are no old restore points. Basically the computer is totally unusable.So now I boot in SAFE MODE. Doesn't do much for me but allows me to look around. So I reboot in SAFE MODE Directory Services which says the drive is clean and the computer now works great in this Directory Services mode.

Over the weekend we upgraded our NT 4 Domain to Windows 2003 Mixed Mode Active Directory. We are now seeing today and yesterday some machines have the windows firewall enabled. We discoverd the problem due to an older legacy application we have had stopped working. The application was working yesterday (2 days after the upgrade) but today it was not. The machines experiencing the problem are located in seperate office and seperate departments. so far we have seen only about 15 with the firewall enabled. As we just upgraded we dont have any GPO's in place that would enable this. We dont have any other automated
customization tools that were configured to do this either.Is there any log file or any way to determine when/by who the firewall was enabled. The users of the machines dont have admin rights so we know it was
not them.
In my Local Area Connection Properties, I turned off the Internet Connection Firewall, but I have symptoms of it being on, like, unable to host Warcraft 3 games, slow download speeds, etc etc, and even an error that say it is on while I'm patching World of Warcraft, is there a way to fix this?

View 10 Replies View RelatedHi all running Xp pro sp2 on Athlon Xp2600 with 1gig ram. Recently all my icons have turned black , no pictures just a black square with the name below it . This effects desktop start menu etc. After a while icons on the task bar come back and the quick start ones reappear but none of the rest of them do ,no matter how long I leave the pc on for . Anyone any ideas how to fix this ?. BTW most of the icons were standard windows ones no custom jobs.
View 12 Replies View RelatedFor some strange reason every so often and usually when I start-up my keyboard turns into a set of hotkeys for Windows related programs. For example if I press 'F' it opens up the search feature, press 'M' and it opens up my computer etc.When I press ctrl+alt+del to open the task manager then close it the hotkeys stop for a second and start typing properly, however after a sentence or two they all become hotkeys again. I also noticed sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't, it's very random.I'm using Windows XP sp1. I don't know of anymore information which would be useful but any info is available on request.
View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently I had some problems with my OS in that when I re-booted I began getting the disk check utility running and it found bad clusters in my hard drive. My hard drive is partitioned into a C drive with only the OS and programs on it and a D drive with all my files saved there. The scandisk found bad clusters in both partitions. When I chose the automatically repair option I thought my problems would be fixed. Instead what happened was that it took a folder which had about 200 mp3's in it and converted it into a file with no file extension. So it isn't even recongnized by my OS.
The whole display on the monitor has completely rotated a quarter turn and although everything else seems to be ok you really have to turn your head sideways or lie down to read it. Difficult as it is a desktop running XP Home system.
