When trying to enter into a chat with my ISP technical support, I got a message saying Javascript needs to be enabled/installed. How do I do this? I know Microsoft does not particularly like Javascript (but I think it's here to stay). Is Sun better than Microsoft? TIA
I was trying to view a particular website, but when I navigate to it, it tells me that I need, "javascript enabled to view the site." As far as I know JavaScript is already enabled on each computer. All are running XP and all are updated w/ both SP1 and SP2. I went to about.com to test if I had JavaScript enabled and it said I did. How can I really make sure?
The USB ports on my friend's laptop (HP Pavilion DV6000 running XP Home) randomly stopped working about a week ago. He hasn't made any changes to the system in some time. When you plug in a USB device, it gets power, but the computer doesn't recognize it. Here's what I've tried so far:Uninstalled all USB drivers from the device manager Unchecked the "allow computer to turn off this device" option under power management Installed newest version of the nVidia cihpsetMade sure that USB is enabled in the BIOS Tried a registry fix found here http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/6...p-working.htmlUnfortunately, nothing has worked. What worries me is that I also tried using an Ubuntu live cd, and no USB devices were recognized there either. I'm thinking that this might be a hardware problem which can't be fixedI declare this problem unfixable?
My temp files seem to be filling up with temporary Javascript files in a short amount of time. I have used CCleaner, Spybot S&D, MS Mal Removal Tool, I have, I have updated Sun Java and I unchecked Save Temp java files in Control Panel. This helped but the problem is growing again.
I was checking out web set linkware, one of the pages had a box pop up to click OK to run script. This was on a lot of other pages on the same site and worked with no problem. This time there was no java on the page. I am wondering if this caused the problem and how do I fix it? I'm attaching some of the CCleaner logs from today.
ok so im on this website and about make an account on it, as i click the link to make an accound nothing happens, its as if i didnt click it.but what i have found is a little note saying 'Javascript:Undefined' wtf?
"you have JavaScript turned off " this message turned up once. I get pictures in the email or in programs and I get a big white squre with a little stamp in the upper left corner. is there some way to get the picture? I do not know what javascript is or how to turn it on.
My Windows media player is not working. The online video is also not working. It's showing "cannot create directshow player". Also there is problem with my internet explorer. The Javascript is not working IE. The javascript option is enabled in internet options. On Experts advise from forums I tried registering javscript dll but it fails to register. I think due to some related problem with this the the texts typing in Yahoo mesenger is also not visible.
Recently I've been denied access to some programs on this computer (Win XP Pro) which are readily accessible on my 2nd computer (Win. 98 SE). The only clue I have is a statement at the bottom of the screen (preceded by an S encapsulated in a red ring) which reads: JavaScript Currently Forbidden [<script>] [J+F+P:O]. However, in going to Tools, Options, Content, I find checks in front of both "Enable Java" and Enable JavaScript".
Whenever I try to do pretty much anything I get a "javascript:void(0)" error... let me explain: If I try to read my hotmail, for example, if I try to read, delete, send, mail or whatever on MSN, it just doesn't load and says javascript:void(0). If I try to go to Windows Update, same thing happened. If I try to run help and support, or try to run a Restore point, the thing goes blank, doing nothing. If I try to watch music videos from let's say, MTV, VH1, AOL, etc. nothing works. If I try to open Windows Media Player, it gives some internal server error and closes...........
The PC Pitstop site requires that your browser has JavaScript and ActiveX support turned on while you're visiting. Since you were directed to this page, it appears that your browser is not running the JavaScript or ActiveX controls on our site. You'll need to change these settings before PCPitStop can perform a tune-up. For detailed instructions on changing your security settingsand my settings are how they are supposed to be,i checked them.I have flash player and since it wasnt working i uninstalled it....but i cant install it from their site, cuz my active x and javascripts aint working
having a problem with my computer. when i visit Internet.com to watch videos, sometimes i get a message that says this: "hello, you either have javascript turned off or an old version of adobe's flash player. get the latest flash player." the video does not play. however, other videos load up just fine. the same thing happens on myspace videos. also, if i go to websites that have flash based games, they work just fine. what could be going on here? i am running windows xp.
I log on to a couple of sites and it says I need Cookies enabled to proceed, yet I know I do have Cookies enabled. This only happens on a couple of sites, Excite email for one. Other sites where I know I need Cookies are fine. Win XP.
the cookies of my browser have been enabled but so far on one certain site before i log into my banking account this message pops up.. on both my opera browser and IE "You do not have cookies enabled, please go into your browser's preferences and enable cookies so that Easy Web will function correctly" i enabled the cookies and restarted and it still continues to pop up with that message.
I just reinstalled windows and got it activated, as windows genuine, via windows, but for some reason hibernate and stand by still are not enabled, and i cant figure out why. its win xp pro/media center 2005
I recently "tidied up" my computer, updating various softwares, scanning etc. I also ran the Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmentation programmes. However after doing both of these 3 of the 4 user accounts on my computer no longer seem to be working. Mine (the one from which I ran the cleanup etc) is fine but the other 3 don't seem to recognise that they are there. Through the Control Panel it still says there enabled but when trying to logon under them some pop-up comes up and although it does eventually logon on it seems to have reverted to the setting for a new user account (or guest), not remembering anything about the accounts. Dont think the defrag caused this (all accounts worked normally before I did these two things)...but perhaps I "cleaned up" something I shouldn't have.
I've just got rid of the Ucleaner 2008 and Ultimate Defender 2008, spyware, but I suspect I still have some spyware because I get periodic pop-ups, the automatic updates can't be enabled and the keyboard only inserts some letters, even if I typed correctly. Most Of the times I have to type the letters twice. My bitdefender doesn't detect any viruses or something, which is strange. By the way, I've got Windows XP Service Pack 2, Bit Defender 2008 Total.
I have been having problems with .msi and other Windows Installer files. The first problem was based BITS not being enabled in the services.msc - and thus it was fixed. Some msi files, such as Apple iTunes updates and the simple usage of Windows Defender, are hindred unless I manually open services.msc via Run, then start Windows Installer Service; which has been set to start with the startup, and to do so automatically.I don't know why it's failing to start, but it is.
Can I install the 32bit version of Windows XP Pro on a system with the following specs?Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Socket 775 2.4GHz RAM: 2GB DDR Hard drive: 1x500GB SATA2 Graphics: XFX GeForce 7900GS 256MB DDR3 PCIE Dual DVI 450/1.32 Motherboard: ASRock S775 VIA PT880 Ultra ATX Audio Lan Sound: onboard (for now)
We're on xp sp2. When I check Windows Security Center, it is often disabled. I've enabled it more than once via the procedure listed at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919291/en-us but eventually (like after logoff/logon or reboot) it's disabled again. I even set Recovery to Restart on Failure and Logon as local system account. Virus is unlikely with Spyware Blaster, SpyBot, NAV 2007, and Ad-Aware SE protecting it.
The interactive crossword is not available on the web browser that you are using since it requires Java. Your web browser does not support Java or Java is not enabled. But I have Java enabled and have even updated the Java plug-ins. All internet options are set to default. This seemed to occur after installing the new Windows Defender program but even after I uninstalled it I still had the problem.
A client has a win2k SP4 box that connects wirelessly using a Linksys WMP55AG card to a Linksys WRT54G. I have scanned the box with Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware, HijackThis, and AVG. I have emptied all temp directories and caches. I used RegTweak to address registry inconsistencies, and have run LSPFix and FixWinsock. Now, if I boot the machine with the network card enabled, it connects fine to the router, gets internet access and runs fine, for about 2 minutes. Then, the machine freezes and becomes 100% unresponsive. The only way to resolve this is to power down explicitly. Now, if I boot up and disable the network card, even after it has connected, then the machine does not freeze. And, if I wait a few minutes, and then re-enable the network card and allow it to connect, it does and yet it does NOT freeze. At all. It has been useful now for over five hours. If I restart the machine with the card enabled, it will freeze again after two minutes. I do not think that it is an issue with the card as it would freeze regardless of when the connection is made. There are also no entries in the event logs that pertain to this in the least.
I've recently re-sized my task-bar to hold my usual desktop icons in the quick-launch area and moved the bar to the left of the screen with auto-hide enabled. All was well until recently when it began to remain on-screen for about 1 min when not in focus. Then it recently began to open on start-up at a size of only 1 icon wide instead of the previously set 3 icons wide. I've made no such changes to the configuration and am curious to know if anyone might know why/how it seems to have obtained a "mind of its own"???
xp pro sp2 automatic updates enabled. My computer restarts automatically after shut down. This happens sometimes immediately, sometimes after a delay of up to 10 minutes. I tried using third party shut down programs, but that did not help. However if I let the computer go into hibernate, it shuts down and does not restart. I do not have Roxio installed, and in the settings for startup and recovery the automatic restart is disabled.
I just got a new computer with an AMD Duron processor, 512 M RAM and Windows XP. Only problem is I've got no audio. I've checked BIOS and sound is enabled but Windows doesn't seem to recognize that the speakers are hooked up. When I tried to play system sounds from the Control Panel, I got an error message that said cannot play sound, your sound card may be in use. The computer was a gift that was bought used and the shop didn't have any documentation with the system. I think this might be a driver issue but I'm not sure how to find out which driver to try.
I've installed the new drive, formatted it two partitions, and installed my XP on the new drive. The old drive is still installed, and I can select which drive I am booting off of. Boot off the old drive, I'm on my old PC. Boot off the new one, I'm on the new.Only one of the XPs are active at a time. The other says it must be activated. So, at this point, I boot to the old, and (with this OS activated)run the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard. I specify that I am saving the data on one of the drives in the PC. It runs and says it's successful. Then I boot off the new drive and (now with THIS OS activated) when I point the FAST to the directory where I saved the files, the wizard says there's no files there to load. I can see .dat files in the directory, but the wizard can't.
Ive installed xp pro and formatted my hard drive after i had a nasty virus which basicly stopped my computer from booting.
