Each time I try to boot xp I get a bsod whith:stop c0000218 and some symbols. The only thing I did from the last time it worked normaly was to play lineage 2.The weired thhing is that linux boots normaly(which is why I can post this message). Since I use a netbook I can't use the xp recovery disk so if you know something to help please post it.

It is corrupt, absent, or not writable" I tried rebooting in safe mode, to no avail. Now I can't even get it to come back to the other "STOP" error screen because every time I boot up my computer a window pops up labeled "Dell PC Restore by Symantec" and states The Dell system recovery tool has detected an unsupported change in your master boot record. The tool cannot run at this time."
I got the blue screen error code stop: c0000218 have no idea what this means.

Ive changed the boot up order in bios settings and still it does not read the cd it just takes me back to the same blue screen where it dumps the physical memory then starts over and over again. Do i need to delete the existing xp first?

Cannot boot to safemode, also tried last known good configuration without success. I have also tried the microsoft KB 307545 fix but could not copy or delete the security file.
I did not add any new memory to my systeme. however, I did remove my current memory to access the inside of my laptop. The fan wire had come loose so I reconnected. I fixed that problem only to find out the problem with the registry. I have chose the load last known configuration that worked correctly but it still gives me the little blue pop up screen with the error, then the restart.
I tried to use my windows xp os disk to try and repair it but it wont read the disc before the blue screen comes back up. I'm thinking of buying a Laptop To IDE Hard Drive Adapter. It got the the Windows XP loading screen, then went to a light blue screen w/ dark blue bars at the top and bottom (the new bsod) and displayed two messages that said the same thing: autochk program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK After about five seconds the computer reboots and repeats the process.
After the BIOS boot and before the Windows XP load screen, there is a recovery option. I tried this and got into the Gateway System Recovery. Do I go on with the rest of the tutorial, or where exactly do I go from here? Is there any possibility that I will not have to reformat and get my old computer back?

A few days ago I booted my laptop and received a blue screen error: c0000218, relating to a corrupt Windows registry file. Windows could not load. After a lot of searching online I found a way to manually replace this and four other related files from the c:WindowsRepair folder using the command prompt.
This process seemed to work and Windows began to load. I then received a lsass.exe error saying something about invalid passwords. My laptop began an infinite cycle of restarting itself. I looked up the lsass.exe error and people seemed to think it was unrecoverable. As my hard drive was reasonably small (100g) and had been showing some signs of problems I decided to just buy a new one. I went out and purchased a new 320g 2.5" hard drive along with a 2.5" USB drive enclosure and another 1g stick of RAM......
my laptop stopped working. After dwld some Excel service pack the pc refused to restart. I had a problem installing the Internet Printing Client for my lab. I got an error saying that there wasn't enough hard drive space. I then shut down my VM and added another hard drive. Trying the VM on another machine. Booting to .iso and using the repair console with the command chkdsk C: /r.

View 11 Replies View Relatedlaptop was infected with the Antivirus 2009 after surfing the web and I removed it using malwarebytes program. Then shortly after the laptop would show a blue screen, displaying "KERNEL STACK INPAGE ERROR" and then reboot. After the reboot, my laptop seemed to run fine, I downloaded AVG antivirus software to check if there was a boot sector virus (?) and after running the laptop for about 30 minutes, it showed the blue screen again and reboots. This kept on occuring.
Then I tried to reformat the laptop. The first time I tried to format it as FAT32, it got to about 60% before rebooting. The second time I managed to get past the formatting (FAT32 [quick])and I got onto the part of installing windows. About 20 minutes into the installation. If just after making the switch on , I press f11 key to reach the boot menu I always find the 1.44 MB Floppy option highlighted as the booting choice.(though there had not been any floppy in the floppy drive, I dont have any really)I make the hard disk option highlighted & it solves the problem only a few times. But next time when I try F11 key to check the boot menu again I find 1.44 MB floppy highlighted.
I haven't installed anything new on my computer but today after having my computer shipped to me via UPS I cut on my computer and where the XP load bar screen was I got: "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device".Seeing this I knew I went into the BIOS setup and tried to turn the system priority to look at the HDD. Instead I only had the option of the DVD drive and the CD drive.I have no idea how to solve this problem and don't have any of the recovery CD's. I DO NOT WANT TO REFORMAT because like a bad little boy I did not backup my 4 years worth of work.

I followed some steps in Hp's web site- took the cpu apart and unplugged both hard drives from the motherboard, plugged them back in. when i restarted ,i got the HP screen and then windows started to load up. After a few seconds the HP screen came back up and then the black screen: sk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter. I also noticed that pressing F10 for system recovery does nothing.
