I am at work on one of the computers on their network. This machine is used my three or four people so how the problem started is just a guess. Word, Excel, Power point all open with "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional." If I try to open any file I created in the past, the same thing happens. I thought I would run scanner but apparently that command does not work.

Half way through the installation i get the error "installer terminated prematurely". no matter what i do I get this message. It partially installs, but not enough to be fully operational. View 12 Replies View RelatedI am running under W2k-SP4. Whenever I try to install a program, "Please wait while Windows configures Scansoft PDF Professional 3.0" pops up. It also pops up when I run some Utility programs installed months ago (such as Registry Mechanic).
I got rid of all Scansoft softwares weeks ago (Uninstall + deletion of registry entries using Resplendent Registrar).
I replaced msiexec with Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803-v2-x86). Nothing doing.
I just upgraded my very tired old Compaq Presario 7598 from 98SE to XP home edition, somehow I lost Word 2000. Prior to the upgrade I saved all my important docs to an external Buslink hard drive. Now when I try to view my stuff it says I need Word 2000. When I put the disk in it asks for the numbers off the jewel case, I don't have these as it came as bundled software when I originally bought the computer. Compaq is being of no help!! I have Windows XP Pro SP2 as my OS. When I try to save a document directly from Word onto my DVD I get the message that is read-only. The OS does see the DVD drive because Roxio can burn to the drive. I prefer saving directly to the the drive from Word. What could be the problem?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy Windows XP (Home Edition) Internet explorer (ver 6.x) does not launch. In addition any process that requires explorer will not launch. This includes "My Documents", "Control Panel", and of course Internet Explorer. When I click My Documents, it thinks about it, then all the icons on the desktop disappear for a moment and all that I have is the background image. Then the icons return and Explorer does not open. The error message I get indicates that there is a problem with the ole32.dll file. I’ve run a virus scan and
spyware scan with no luck.

Now, I have downloaded the autopacher 2000, but have not opened the file yet, becuase I wanted to double check with you guys and gals to see if this sounded legit. I really dont want to mess up my system, becuase its running real strong with no problems. It will however load if I am already in the program which usually opens it. Beside them it says SIG file, which I have no idea what that means. Also, it is just a blank box beside the file name (in my documents list) when usually there is a mini icon showing which program will work to open it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter a recent major cleanup, Windows XP's special folders will not open properly when I double-click them on the desktop. I get a "File does not have a program associated with it ..." error instead. I can still access the folders by rightclick and selecting 'Explore', I just can't double-click from the desktop. it seems that Window's special folders (i.e. My Documents, My Computer, Control panel and the Recycle Bin), are not really files or true folders - they are called 'Special folders'. Also, the problem is self-induced and not the result of a virus or spyware issue - I have done it to myself. Too bad I don't have a recent registry backup or System Restore point I can use.So, my question is how to I fuss with the default associations on the 'Special folders'?

"Preparing to install, please wait while windows configues Microsoft Office edition 2003, then a second dialogue box appears, which says: Error 1309. Error reading from file: D:SKU011.CAB. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it". When I click cancel in the Dialogue box, I am then able to go into the application.

To begin with. My Hal.dl file ended up missing, so I got an error and had to reinstall windows, bla bla bla bla. i didn't lose all my data, and just reinstalled windows. I had to reinstall all my programs again, and everything went swell, untill I hit one problem. I had a ton of data (over 15 GB of pictures/music, etc) on my desktop. Since it was on my desktop, I now have my previous user folder in my documents, and I am un able to open it, delete it, rename it, etc. I know that the data is still there because when I check how much of my drive is taken up, it is obvious.
