Im running XP Pro. Ive upgraded to SP1 and have tried over and over again to get office 2000 premium to install. Half way through the installation i get the error "installer terminated prematurely". no matter what i do I get this message. It partially installs, but not enough to be fully operational. I havent ever had this problem and am unsure of how to fix it. is there a fix available?
View 12 RepliesI installed Windows Vista 64 at one point, but my wireless usb adapter didn't have any drivers for windows vista 64 so I reformatted my entire hd and reinstalled win xp home. anyway, the problem is I cannot install the new version of iTunes,openoffice, and Steam. There's probably more programs out there that I cannot install, so I really want to resolve this issue as it is very annoying. everytime I try to install any of these programs i get this message. "The installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

Word, Excel, Power point all open with "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1 Professional." If I try to open any file I created in the past, the same thing happens. I thought I would run scanner but apparently that command does not work.

Is there any way to remove the application without the CD? Unfortunately there dont appear to be any restore points set in the system restore.

Insert your Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD now." The buttons available to press are retry, more information and cancel. When i insert the cd i used to install XP Pro it tells me i've inserted the wrong CD- the same message comes up when i press "retry"After clicking cancel to exit setup, i get the message entitled "installer information"- "Error 1933- The windows installer service cannot update one or more protected Windows files"

It stops half way and another window pops up that says Installation error file not found. A required installation file SKU112.CAB could not be found. Original installation source required. If you installed Microsoft office standard edition 2003 over your computer network please browse to the installation source on your computer. Also a window popped up that says Microsoft word has not been installed for the current user. Please run setup to install application. I don't have the cd its lost. This just started doing this about a month ago. I can't open any files through microsoft office word or power point.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI boot up and Windows Installer box keeps trying to install something. I cannot do anything after that because it freezes evrything. I suspect something is missing on an install or it would not do this but I have no way of telling what because I cannot investigate with a frozen computer. It does this in safe mode too. It will not let me cancel or close box, it just goes into a deep freeze!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got a Blue screen of death error code - 0x0000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x82D9FDA0, 0x82D9FF14, 0x805Fa7A8) which states that a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. I can't reboot after the BSOD as the laptop will just freeze at the windows diskc check area. How do i find out what process was terminated?Furthermore i tried using my laptops recovery disc but the system won't let me run the program.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I'm trying to boot my laptop after a severe error in judgment and I'm getting an error before Windows can load that says Code: Service Manager Initialization has terminated unexpectedly with error code 0xc000003aIs there anything I can do about this? I've tried repairing the boot sectors (which I realize aren't at fault) and placed autochk.exe in every directory I can think of (Windows was reporting that it couldn't find it). If I run a chkdsk or scandisk in the recovery console will this be fixed? Or am I doomed to reinstall? This isn't bad since I can simply reinstall and not lose too much, but I'd like another option.

Then eventually it stayed on, but has crashed several more times since then. Some other things:-Recently my Dvd drive has been disapearing off and on lately (it's showing at the moment, though). -Also my windows updates have been failing lately as well. I keep getting an error message that system32services.exe has been terminated (either code 203 or 204, it varies), and that the computer will shutdown in 60 seconds. Using "shutdown -a" leaves it in a near-worthless state. I'm on Roadrunner, I use eTrust ezArmor (what can I say,it's free...); I've run antivirus and anti-spyware multiple times, but obviously it's not either finding anything else, or it can't clean it.

Everything seems to proceed normally... the update downloads, and then I launch the installation, but at the end I get an error screen that says "Updates were unable to be successfully installed" and no other error codes or messages. When I try to reinstall I get the message "The System Adminsitrator has set polcies to prevent this installation" I am running XP Professional and am the only user on this home computer. It is not on a network. I know this is an old problem, as I looked it up on Google. I did try to fix it by going to the local security policy and changing settings. This did not work. I am not familiar with "registries" and am hesitant to try anything in that area.
