BSOD - Computer Won't Start - Process Terminated
Mar 15, 2006
I got a Blue screen of death error code - 0x0000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x82D9FDA0, 0x82D9FF14, 0x805Fa7A8) which states that a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. I can't reboot after the BSOD as the laptop will just freeze at the windows diskc check area. How do i find out what process was terminated?Furthermore i tried using my laptops recovery disc but the system won't let me run the program.

For example, today when I started the computer it kept shutting off and wouldnt stay on longer than 2 seconds. Then eventually it stayed on, but has crashed several more times since then. Some other things:-Recently my Dvd drive has been disapearing off and on lately (it's showing at the moment, though). -Also my windows updates have been failing lately as well. Even though the BSODs were occuring way before that, it's still odd.

where do i start.I don't know if this is a virus or hardware/software issues or what, but when i start up my computer, it works for a varied length of time, before i get a BSoD(i will post the error when i get the comp to turn on). When i try to restart, it will either freeze at a random point or i will get a message saying to insert proper boot disk and restart the computer. This continues to happen unless i wait about half an hour before turning it on. but of course when it boots up, the cycle continues. I'll post a dxdiag and error messages/ screenshots when i get it to turn on again

I did a search in relative to my error but couldn't find a solution from some of the previous thread with the same error code. I get the following blue screen message:Error:A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. A wait operation, attach process, or yield was attempted from DPC routine. If this is the first time youve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need. If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Starup options, and then select safe mode.

i have a compaq presario sr1620nx with windows xp. one day the computer worked fine and the next it does not. the problem: on start up the computer does not progress past the "Compaq" screen. there are no lights on the keyboard so pressing F8 or F10 or ESC does not do anything. Everything is hooked up properly so it is not a power problem.

my problem is that Windows XP is slow to start. It has gradually been getting slower since I started using it in January 2008, but last week it took a significant turn for the worse (about five minutes to load). Once it is up and running, it seems okay, although on occasions recently the mouse cursor has lagged behind its actual position. I am worried that malware may be the cause of the problem; particularly because of the sudden downwards jump in performance.
I have run the Windows Cleanup facility and the Defragmenter a couple of times. I have deleted files in various temp folders. I have McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.5.0i running, and I ran a full system scan, which returned nothing. I also ran scans with Spybot, Lavasofts Ad-Watch, Spyware Terminator, McAfee Stinger, and Trend Micro on-line scan. All returned nothing. I ran CCleaner, and it cleared out some junk. I have reviewed HijackThis output files (in ignorance). I manually turned off a few startup processes, and that seemed to improve matters a little. I still feel that I am failing to deal with the real issue though. I am edgy about turning off more processes, because I'm uncertain of what they do. I can refer to bleeping computer.com, and similar sites, but it is not always clear whether a process is honest, or it is a destructive process with an honest name.

I get the 'session3_initialization_failed' BSOD on start-up. The machine will start up no probs in safe-mode but always gives the BSOD on any other start-ups. There were no new hardware installations. The customer im trying to fix it for is almost certain she downloaded a virus via one of those pop-ups which say "youve got xx viruses, click here to remove them". (in her wisdom she clicked it!!) I'm thinking its corrupted an initialization file in windows but im not sure which one, or what to do if i did know.

Not real sure what we've got going here but this computer seems to be getting more and more unstable. I'm running Win XP Pro, SP2 and over the last couple of weeks we've gone from freezing up once every/every other day to freezing up multiple times a day and often not even getting fully through the start up process. The only things I can think of that we've changed is re-installing the printer and upgrading Front Page 2000 to 2003. (That doesn't mean that's all that's been done, just what I remember right now!

My desktop currently boots, but before starting XP displays a warning that the system was restarted to protect from data loss after an unexpected start or system failure. All of the options (safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, safe mode with networking, last known good configuration, and start normally) don't work, they all lead to a short start-up and then the system restarts. I turned off auto-restart on system failure to see the blue screen that would tell me the error, and the error I got was "*** STOP: 0x00000024", which from what I've researched usually has to with a corrupted ntfs.sys file but I'm not sure. I tried booting the Windows Recovery Console from the OS choice menu and that goes straight to the error, and booting the System Recovery disc lets me start up the process, but when I press "r" to run the normal fixes (that don't include wiping the drive) the process goes nowhere. It starts, but after finished the loading bar it goes to a solid baby blue screen.
I direly need my files off of the hard drive, so I'm not really looking at a full system recovery as an option, I just need something that'll buy me enough time to transfer most of the content on the hard drive (around 160 gigs) to an external hard drive.
I've also tried testing both sticks of RAM by removing one and then the other to see if one is bad, but the error still persists.

So I'm trying to boot my laptop after a severe error in judgment and I'm getting an error before Windows can load that says Code: Service Manager Initialization has terminated unexpectedly with error code 0xc000003aIs there anything I can do about this? I've tried repairing the boot sectors (which I realize aren't at fault) and placed autochk.exe in every directory I can think of (Windows was reporting that it couldn't find it). If I run a chkdsk or scandisk in the recovery console will this be fixed? Or am I doomed to reinstall? This isn't bad since I can simply reinstall and not lose too much, but I'd like another option.

My computer will not finish the start up process. Once it gets to the "Windows is starting up" screen, it stops. Normally after it finishes this, it goes to "Applying your personal settings", but it does not get that far.My system's information:Gateway 420GR.Purchased on January 16, 2005.Background on my issue:This issue started yesterday. I left my computer running through the night, and while I was at work. I have it scheduled to shut down every week day at noon, so that it has had a few hours to rest before I get home.I first discovered the issue when I started up my computer earlier today.

In the Task Manager it goes between about 85 to 99%. And no, I'm not looking at the System Idle Process as so many newbies do. A few days ago I had the motherboard replaced as it was bad. It was done at a service place in Tijuana. They had to reformat the hard disk and reinstall my versions of XP and my upgrade to XP Pro. Then I have been updating via the internet to the Windows updates including Service Pac 3.

This computer stopped booting. It would freeze in the process. Since there was nothing on the hard drive worth saving, I used the recovery boot cd. It went though the process, rebooted, and returned to the setup process. In the middle of the setup, while installing devices, the computer froze again. I have tried repeating the process to no avail. I have tried turning off some of the not so necessary things in the BIOS and trying it.

PC has rebooted perfectly until yesterday. When I go thru the restart computer process. it will stall at the startup p.o.s.t screen. I can shut it down with the shutdown computer process and it powers off. I wait a few seconds, then power back on and it will boot into Windows perfectly. It just will not go thru the restart process. Power off and power on, it will bootup normally.

computer is running at 100% CPU so, you guessed it, very slow. In the processes it shows the spooler.exe using the power alternating with the System(at bottom of list) - but mostly the spooler.exe. The problem really started when he changed an ink cartridge.Does any of this make sense?

Allright I have just recentley reinstalled XP. This reinstall was precipitated by the fact that I tried to reboot yesterday, and got the strange grey sector bar across the bottom of a blank monitor, which at the time I though was a very bad sign.... hence the reinstall of XP.I should note that I had been planning on reinstalling soon, as I had run a lot of intensive software thru this install, testing various spyware, regmechs, so it wasnt much of a choice/surprise reinstalling XPHome...

A few weeks ago I decided to try messing around with the RAM. I took out the last stick and the computer, yet again, seemed to work perfectly… for a week at least (enough time for me to assume it was fixed). The problems persisted. Note that by now not only did I have bsod problems but simple problems like browsers not being able to open, programs crashing at a very high rate, windows unable to shut down, etc. (these reasons made me decide to start experimenting with the RAM) After RAM stick #4 did not work, I started switching out ram (to no avail) And just yesterday I took them all out and put only two in, so I am running 2 gigs memory
Last night, my computer seemed to run fine, I got my hopes up yet again. This morning my comp bsod’d. After waiting an hour, I turned my computer back on and now I have a constant “Microsoft windows, the system has recovered from a serious error” error report sending thing, which no matter how many times I click don’t send or send it will pop up again. I have moved it to the corner of my screen to write this. I believe I may have had this problem before and just restarted to fix it, but I am not sure.

For the past week my computer has been locking up at random times, now I am pretty dang sure I know the general cause, which would be my own fault -.- I just moved to a new place, long story short, mixed up my surge protector with my standard power bar, rolling power outage hit, turned my computer back on and wham, it randomly locks up...I restored it back to about a week ago, and it seems to work fine (sans a few random freezes upon booting up) Of all the times it has frozen, it only gave me one BSOD
