Ieeues In Installing SP2 - Reboot Loop On Presentation
Oct 16, 2007I had to a repair install of xp as I suffered some suspect sys file corruption after HW upgrade. Installation went fine but only came with SP1. Obtained SP2 and it bugs out with error message about 3/4 way through install (when doing cleanup) If I restart without removing sp2 XP will enter a reboot loop on presentation of desktop.Any ideas at interpreting below log files? Looks like I have some hotfix migration issues but don't know whether they're critical or not!

Nov 22, 2005I have Microsoft Powerpoint on my desktop, but I need it on my laptop. I lost my cd for Powerpoint, so I burn the one I have on my desktop and burn that file to a blank cd. After I burned the cd, I inserted the disc on my laptop. I screen comes up and I see the powerpoint icon. When I click the icon it says "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"

Jul 8, 2010I have a dell dimension 3000 running windows xp sp3 that we use at our church to run a PowerPoint 2007 presentation for our songs to display on a projector. The problem is that more often than not the PowerPoint will crash and sometimes the entire system for no apparent reason. I have uninstalled word and reinstalled to no avail, it is still happening. I decided to start trouble shooting so I downloaded the memtest86 v2.11 and I am getting fails during test 2. Not sure if that means it is the ram or if it is a hardware conflict. Aside from a potential ram problem I am wondering about 3 other possibilities.
Could it be the way I have set up the video to run 2 monitors? I currently have purchased and installed a Zotac Nvidia GeForce 5200 video card which I plug the projector into and it acts as the primary monitor. The 2nd monitor a NEC AccuSync LCD5v monitor is plugged into the on-board video slot. Neither one of the settings for these video cards seem to recognize that I have two monitors plugged in, so not sure if that is the source of the crashes? If I should hook them up differently or what
Within the PowerPoint itself is over 300 hyper links (one for each song plus one to end the song and return to main PowerPoint) I run it in presenter mode. Also have a macro on one slide so it can function as a white board. Main PowerPoint has 6 slides.

Feb 20, 2007I need to download powerpoint, not the full version, a disk from school that I need to look at. I asked before, got a small version trial, don't remember that opened it. Everything seems to proceed normally... the update downloads, and then I launch the installation, but at the end I get an error screen that says "Updates were unable to be successfully installed" and no other error codes or messages. I tried running the update with my CD in the CD drive, but it didn't help.

When I try to reinstall I get the message "The System Adminsitrator has set polcies to prevent this installation" I am running XP Professional and am the only user on this home computer. It is not on a network. I know this is an old problem, as I looked it up on Google. I did try to fix it by going to the local security policy and changing settings. This did not work. I am not familiar with "registries" and am hesitant to try anything in that area.

Sep 22, 2009My problems began when I tried to download Microsoft Office 7 on a trial basis on my laptop. I wasn't successful (don't remember exactly what my problem was). I restarted my computer and came up with a Windows Installer problem that I couldn't clear with Windows Installer cleanup or an upgrade to Windows Installer 4.5 (?). I could access the Internet, but not my email on Outlook 3.I decided to do a full reload of Windows XP Pro on the laptop. That apparently went well, but now I cannnot connect to the Internet (Windows Firewall is disabled). Access to email is okay on my desktop, and experts at AT&T U-Verse assure me that the problem is in my laptop.
