View 4 RepliesEvery time I open an explorer window on a floppy the window is maximized. Everytime I create a new folder, the default size is maximized. Whenever I plug in my flash drive, the window size is max. I already have remember folder size enabled, but it appears that each of the scenerios above are not included in this "memory" So the question is, how do I set the default size for each of the above to something other that max?

The panel has no controls for vertical/horizontal size and whatever monitor is used, an OS desktop fills the screen by default. I can resize the window for the TV viewing program in the normal way, just filling my projection screen, but the XP desktop is far too large.Does anyone know of a way to change the physical size of the desktop (including the taskbar) so that it sits in the LCD screen with a blank border all around, or maybe even make it custom resizeable as in a program window ( without changing the resolution)?

The second value is always larger. Could someone please explain what the difference is because I'm in the process of allocating space for backed up user data on a network share and I need to multiply the average file size by the number of users to get an estimate of how much space to allocate to that share.

As it is, Outlook won't let me modify my printer preferences so that it will just print an e-mail on plain paper.
Does anyone know how to changing that default choice? I want an administrator account and a public account. In the public account I don't want any right-clicking, changing desktop icons, things like this. I also want all of the things left on the desktop (downloads, shortcuts, etc.) to be gone when they log out. I did look at group policy editor but I don't like it. So I put System Policy Editor on it from a Windows Server 2000 CD.I have a .POL file made already and can't get it to work. Any websites on this would also be great.
I have an XP laptop that has both a dial up and an ethernet location. When at work I use an ethernet cable to check e-mail and connect to the internet. When at home I use a mindspring dial up. When I am at work with my ethernet connection, whenever I try to get onto the internet I get a message saying that I am offline. A get a message asking me to connect or cancel. When I connect, it does take me to the correct page. This happens all of the time. I can connect to each page every time I get this message but is seems to think I am in dial up mode.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had XP 64 installed for a about 10 days now and everything is working fine. I didn't have any issues with drivers or applications. The default install and updates seem to use two versions of IE (64 and 32). I've swapped all my icons to choose the 32 bit version since there is no flash support for 64 bit browsers at this time. My problem is that I get a lot of links inside emails and when I click on those it always uses the 64 bit version. I've tried to change the default browser option through control panel but it only offers the option of IE and won't let me select which IE. I also have IE 32 set to check to make sure it's the default browser. I've done some Google searches but I must not be asking the right question because I can's find much on IE 64.

Adobe CS2 was asking for activation (I've been lazy about registering it), at the same moment I was launching opening a folder. For some reason beyond my understanding, this caused Windows Explorer to crash. A couple of moments later it was running just fine.I keep working, no problems are apparent. I restart my system, and lo and behold, my XP theme has been replaced by the generic Windows, gray bar, non-cartoony theme. You know, the type you get when you select "Use Windows Classic Style."Problem is, I right click on my desktop to change my theme back (I *like* olive green), and all of bundled WinXP themes (you know, the blue, silver, olive green) are no longer within the drop down box. Just Windows Classic.

So, the only way I can view any specific folder, I have to right-click and then select 'open'. The right-click menu shows 'search' as the default, and I have browsed the registry to see if I can reset it back to 'open'. I have also browsed around the net to see if there is instructions to fix this issue, but I have had no luck.Whoever can solve my issue - it would be greatly appreciated.
