very sorry to bother you and i appreciate your helpfulness. a few months ago i noticed i was no longer able to watch Internet videos and the like. i used to be able to without problem. now it stops and starts. the computer began to bog down and run slower, getting worse over time. today i was going to try to "clean house". i ran spybot s&d, and then downloaded and ran glary utilities, registry mechanic, and spyware blaster.

Having problems with my roommates laptop. It takes about 10 mins for it to boot up. And once its running its not running real good. Also when it starts up, or if there is any load, sounds crackles. Since I started working on it I have run, Adaware, Defrag, Registry cleaner, Driver updater, and virus check, and everything has been cleaned, but it has not helped much. The computer has plenty of free resources, hard drive is only half full, and there are no big programs on here that should slow it down. I also went and purged all the programs out of startup that dont need to be running.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

Audio Driver enabled but inactive due to an unknown problem.
Lately my computer has been extremely slow, not just internet slow but onboard slow. For example, if I click on an application from the desktop it will sit there for 10-20 seconds before anything happens. Occasionally I'll click multiple times on something and nothing will happen then 30 seconds later it will open multiple instances of things. This delay has been happening with just about anything I click on, acting like the computer's busy doing something else when nothing else should be going on. I've looked in the task manager and the applications column will be blank

This evening I was using my netbook to listen to music offline, which was working perfectly well. I then closed the lid, which sent it to sleep, and upon opening it again, everything was going very slowly.
I re-booted the computer, which then took several minutes longer than usual to boot (whilst not booting quickly normally, being a low-powered machine, was a significant length of time longer amounting to around 2 or 3 times longer than normal), and the machine was still incredibly sluggish. It is also now unable to play audio files properly, it plays the first part perfectly coherently and then begins to lag more and more as the media continues. (The same occurs on any video files of any king played in any form)
I have an IBM Thinkpad T-40 with Windows XP SP2, 1500 MHz, 1.50 Ghz, 256 MB RAM. After I reinstalled Windows the computer doesn't recognize any of my drivers and hardware. I no longer have sound.
View 14 Replies View Relatedhi, since today when i use explorer on my second partition it takes a few seconds to open root folders. hdd gets noisy, grinding for a while, explorer process reaches 90 ish % and then it opens a folder. i must add that all other folders open properly. the other issue accompanying it is jerky sound when playing audio or video files located even on another hdd. this is quite a fresh installation of win xp pro. no viruses detected, no bad sectors, defragmented, etc. this is a sata hdd, connecting it to another controler did not help as well. it seems to me like the problem could be physical rather than software. what do you think ?
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is a Windows XP sp3 domain connected PC with one specific user, which all of a sudden takes 2.5mins to log in to the domain, Where it used to take just about 20 seconds. Other users on the same PC is all OK 20sec login This is not the usual where it hangs at "applying computer settings" or "personal settings" it's after those two has passed that it just hangs for a couple of minutes.
All i get is the mouse pointer (not even hourglass) and the desktop wallpaper for about 2-3 minutes. When it finally logs in everything is as quick as you would expect that spec of PC to be (1,6ghz Sempron, 1gb RAM, 40gb IDE-100 HDD)
computer now takes half an hour to an hour to reboot. in doing so, it tells me that it does not do the startup and services. it is so slow it is unbelievable. sometimes even being so slow that the words we type take a few seconds to show up on the screen. after working for a time it will invariably hang. or it will shut itself down. in either case we have to reboot, it takes that half an hour to an hour again

Problem started when running Internet Explorer and would receive an error tab every time stating IE must close. The data error was a mcsvrt.dll problem. Now when I start the computer it takes 10-15 minutes to boot completely and accessing Mozilla or any apps after about 3-4 mins takes ages. I realized, when I start up, it takes FOREVER. It also shows this screen I have never seen before. Its completely black, and has a line of grey rectangles from side to side. and slowly loads across. I have Comcast cable and it's connected through a Linksys modem. The problem is that the internet response on this machine is pretty slow. I have a laptop that I use and that is much better. I would figure that my "main" computer would be faster since it has a hard connection, not wireless. I know that isn't much info so ask away and I do what I can to provide all the info needed.
