Compaq Server Won't Install - System Formatted At Every Start Up

I have a Compaq Proliant 8000 here that had Red Hat Linux pre-installed and in working order. My company then decided that it wanted Small Business Server 2003 installing, so after using Compaq Smartstart to format and re arrange the disk arrays, which is no problem at all system formatted then a raid 5 disk array set-up which smart start detects and reads correctly However, now that is done the system will NOT install SBS 2003 or any other operating system at all, at the point of the install where the disk reads "Windows Set-up" the system just stops and freezes, this happens with other disks and different O/S discs.
Currently i have 2 hard drives, a 40gb and a 160gb. I have winxp on the 40 bg (single c: partition) as well as some files, and data and music on the 160 gb (about 50 or so gb full one partition-F. I want to take the F drive, the bigger one, and put it in my new computer. also, i want to install winxp PRO on the F: drive. so,can i add another partition on there now (so i dont lose files- i have insufficient room to backup F to C) and install xp pro, can i move the harddrive later and install xppro? basically, i want to lose no data and am unsure i have enough room to backup F, is there a way or program i can use to add a nother partition to an already formatted disk,what is the best way to do this?
I got a request from a customer to install windows terminal server license in windows xp. He also sent me 2 .Doc files which says about the payment and stuff.
I'm trying to install my printer, usb, lexmark x75 all in one. When I try to install it I get a weird rpc server is unavailable error and it won't install it.
My compaq is having problems starting up. It makes a repetitious sound like the hard drive is trying to start but can't and will continue to do so indefinately or until it boots. So I assumed it was a hdd issue, however trying the hd in another laptop worked fine and an alternate hd in my Compaq has the same problem. It does start up occasionally, although it usually freezes half way through booting up, but can occasionally work upto half an hour.
I am reinstalling my win xp, but I have no formatted the hd, I am installing xp over the current win xp.The problem is I got asked for a psw of the admin. What's this psw? I have no psw for the admin
i have a compaq presario notebook.when i m going to install windows xp sp2 then after drivers loading it shows a error message that suggest me to virus check and chkdisk.but after doing that it didn't work.
i have a compaq presario sr1620nx with windows xp. one day the computer worked fine and the next it does not. the problem: on start up the computer does not progress past the "Compaq" screen. there are no lights on the keyboard so pressing F8 or F10 or ESC does not do anything. Everything is hooked up properly so it is not a power problem.
my laptop doesnt open to windows there is a message on top of the screen NTLDR is missing below is a message to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart but when i try this it doest work.
I am only moderately technically savvy. I'm not afraid of technology, but my only experience is tinkering around with my own PC's over the years when issues have come up. I'm a big fan of trying to do things yourself before calling in the professionals. However because of this, I have been delegated to complete the task at hand. This is my nephew's computer that has been dropped off at my house to somehow get running again.
I have a Compaq Presario s5200nx, with 512kb ram, 2.7 ghz Celeron processor, and now a 120 gb Western Digital hard drive. I took the original hard drive (120gb Samsung), which had windows xp installed and running fine, out and put it into a newer computer I built. I installed the 120 gb WD drive in (which also had a running version of XP installed on it) and it wouldn't boot. I then tried putting my windows xp cd in to reformat and reinstall, but everytime, it loads up, and then just says at the bottom "Starting Windows" and freezes at this. I then tried using the recovery cds that were made from this computer and put the first one it, It just gets to a screen that says "Compaq Recovery" and freezes at this. Next I took some "Quick Restore" cds I had from an older laptop and put those in. Everything seemed to be working fine until I got to the end where an error saying "Memory Error" came up, and the PC still wouldnt boot. I have tested the hard drive on other computers, works fine, as well as ran Western Digital's Diagnostics on it, which showed no errors.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 with everything up to date as far as I know. I have the complete set of my PC's OEM Disks that I've used once when my OS was completely messed up, had Geeks Rescue out and they couldn't figure out what was wrong, so I know what they are for.What I'm not understanding are the several tools I'm afraid to open listed in my "Start"/"All Programs" I have both "Compaq"/"Compaq Presario PC Tools" with "Compaq Application Recovery"/"Compaq Recovery CD-DVD Creator"/"Compaq Recovery Tools CD"/"Compaq Support Information"/"Compaq System Recovery"/"Remote Assistance"/"Safety and Comfort Guide"
I was running a Compaq desktop on Windows XP Home Edition, halfway through an excel spreadsheet when my PC shut down. I have not been able to bootup again and keep getting a message to install WindowsRoot>System32hal.dell, I don't have a system recovery disk and now that I cannot boot up, I cannot use the recovery function on my PC either.
I have a Compaq laptop that I bought about a year ago. Of course, I did not get a Windows disk with it and I cannot find the software that I did get. When I try to start it, it says that Windows cannot start because a file is missing or corrupt. The file is "windowssytem32configsystem". It suggests that I attempt to repair it using the original Setup CD-ROM, which, of course, I don't have.
download from msn and in 2 days 8 viruis and many registery problems have got rid of all by running spydoctor . registy meachine ,avg .ntl netguard. the main viruis was backdoor jcb but now my windows firewall turns off after every restart and so dose system restore i have tryed to install a new firewall spygate but this will not start up after i download it i did put in a new cd-rw drive a couple of weeks ago but thats been fine
my housemates computer has me completely stumped, we have formatted his HDD several times and re-installed XP on it several times, yet every second time the computer will freeze just after its started up, not freeze really but will lose the mouse and keyboard
I've had this Compaq since 2004. I've added a gig of RAM, a 250gb SATA HDD, and a 6600GT card.
Anyway, I want to do a clean install of XP, which I've never done. I've cleared a bunch of space on my 250gb HD and transfered all the files im going to keep from C: to the 250gb.
So my question is what will happen to my 250gb drive? Do I have to disconnect it? Will XP recognize it after the clean install? What about the extra RAM and 6600gt?
I own an Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario SR1550NX if I push the start botten the fan runs the green light is on but also the yellow light below is on. The Monitor is blank and the tower makes also a peep peep noise.
I've been trying to install Windows XP on a HP Compaq 6710b. It's my friends laptop, it shipped with Vista and she hates it so I'm giving her one of my copies of XP to use, because I'm so nice and whatnot. It boots into Windows Setup, checks everything, and then tells me that it can't find a hard drive for it to install Windows on, and the only option is to press F3 to restart. Is there some step I'm missing to turn on the hard drive before I install? Is this a problem with HP products, or have I just forgot to press some button?

What i mean is can I just start my computer from the XP install CD w/o having formatted my harddrive which currently contains server 2003 and expect XP to install over server 2003? Or can I format my harddrive if i only have one?
How much HD space would be needed to install NT server 4.0 and all of it's service packs? Best guesses are also welcomed and more than 1 response as well.

I have a compaq presario x1000 that is virus infected. it loads windows very slow and the dvd cum cd rom does not work. how can i reformat my laptop? is it possible to boot it using a usb pen drive since my dvd cum cd rom does not work?

I was trying to install the latest ATI Drivers when the Installer gave me an RPC Server Unavailable error. Both RPC Services ARE running. I dont know what else I can do.
