how to install office from a terminal server onto a users PC?
If I am in terminal services and i click on setup.exe i get the error message:"The windows installer service could not be accessed.This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
I got a request from a customer to install windows terminal server license in windows xp. He also sent me 2 .Doc files which says about the payment and stuff.

1. I've got to set up a Terminal Server Licensing server and was thinking about putting this on my second domain controller. I was wondering what would happen in this server dies, though. Is there some way of having resilience in this scenario? Perhaps a second Licensing server or something, the way you have 2 or more Domain Controllers?
I have a small home LAN setup (2 PC's - 1 Windows XP Home and 1 Windows 98SE) and I want to be able to use a terminal server like solution so that I can run everything on the XP machine but be on the 98 machine.I've explored solutions like VNC which work well except I need to be able to log into a SEPERATE user account while someone else is currently logged into theirs on the XP machine. For example, my XP machine has two accounts: anthony and charlene. Let's say charlene is currently physically at the xp machine and logged into her account. How can I, from the 98 machine, connect to the Xp machine and log into my account?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI did a upgrade overwrite of XP Home to XP Pro on this workstation of mine with the sole purpose of getting Terminal Services to work. I have the service enabled, there are users in the Remote Desktop Users group, the XP firewall is disabled, the computer is set up in a workgroup, and file/printer sharing works. If I try to connect to term serv from another computer, it will immediately fail and simply say "The remote computer has ended the connection" There are no entries in the computer's error log nor have I found any other indication to the problem.

Everything seems to proceed normally... the update downloads, and then I launch the installation, but at the end I get an error screen that says "Updates were unable to be successfully installed" and no other error codes or messages. I tried running the update with my CD in the CD drive, but it didn't help.

There's probably more programs out there that I cannot install, so I really want to resolve this issue as it is very annoying. everytime I try to install any of these programs i get this message. View 11 Replies View RelatedIf you have Comodo Firewall Pro v3.0.25.378 on your system the install of sp3 may hang at 'Running processes before install'. This is due to the May 30, 2008 update of Comodo and the 'Guard32.dll'.To install sp3 either uninstall Comodo or an easier method is to disable 'Defence+', open the system32 folder and look for the 'Guard32.dll'. Right click on the 'Guard32.dll' and rename to 'Guard32.dll5' (or whatever you want to rename it to).I spent hours trying to figure out why the sp3 install hung at 'Running processes before install' (if you open Task Manager while the install is hung you will see 'fixcss.exe' and 'nv4prep.exe' using 100% cpu). Finally boiled the problem down to the 'Guard32.dll' which is Comodo's 'Defence+'.It won't do any good just to completely shutdown Comodo and stop the service. Apparently the Guard32.dll remains in memory and needs to be disabled by renaming it.After installing sp3 go back and rename the Guard32.dll to it's original.I have contacted Comodo about this issue and they seem to be working on it.

I have the same problem that several other people have posted here, where I want anyone who logs into that computer to be able to use its locally-connected HP PhotoSmart 7900 color inkjet printer. But when XP is connected to a Windows domain, nobody who doesn't have administrator rights to the computer can install the printer; besides that, I really don't want to have to get involved every time somebody who's never used that computer before suddenly wants to print on it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAm having a sever problem with 1 users account on XP . It appears to have only afected 1 user account. The problem seams to have occured right after an update to adobe acrobat reader (coincidence maybe). Can not install any new software (error 82 says last file run is main .exe). Can`t update avast,ewido,ad-aware, or spybot from that users account. The other users accounts seams to work fine but find nothin on any of the scans other than AVG it says that the boot record ,system volume, and 3 of the ini files have changed and Ad-aware finds 11 items but when trying to remove them it locks. Hijack this can not be run on the affected user account as it says that it is not a valid picture file. Safe mode under the affected user account (administrator privlages) is no diferent. When trying to run chkdsk from a comand promt in safe mode it says that the system volume is in use by another aplication and have to scedual a scan on the next reboot. This finds nothing aswell. Repair was also tried from the Xp cd to no avail either. All of the online scans (Symantec , Panda soft, Trend Micro....etc) will not run on this account and find nothing on the other accounts.

It was being used as a Citrix server in our environment. The server was put in before my time here and I saw that somebody had changed the C: to a M:We have since taken the server off the network and plan on using it as an internal file server. For some reason, I am unable to install a clean copy of Windows 2000 or 2000 advanced server on it.I have tried to wipe the disk clean with DBAN and KILLDISK and WIPEDRIVE but all just hang on the system.I have a Windows 98 startup disk that I was able to boot from and ran an FDISK.I was also able to format the C:.When I am in DOS and switch to the C: I type in Dir and it comes up with no files found.I checked the partitions in FDISK and it shows the Primary Partition as being active and shows the correct amount of disk space. Whenever I try to install Windows 2000 Advanced Server the system goes through the process of checking the files and gets to the point to begin installation. When I try to install the operating system, the next screen comes up saying it cannot find the hard drive.This is very frustrating as I know the C: is there as I can see it from DOS and it looks to be configured properly.

My company then decided that it wanted Small Business Server 2003 installing, so after using Compaq Smartstart to format and re arrange the disk arrays, which is no problem at all system formatted then a raid 5 disk array set-up which smart start detects and reads correctly However, now that is done the system will NOT install SBS 2003 or any other operating system at all, at the point of the install where the disk reads "Windows Set-up" the system just stops and freezes, this happens with other disks and different O/S discs.
