View 1 RepliesI was wondering if anyone could help me with this: A while ago I installed Easy CD Creator 5 on this computer (Sony pcg fxa53 running XP with an INTERNAL Matshita 720 CD/RW-DVD drive). Ever since then, I got the following error in device manager: Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)
I have since deleted anything to do with Easy CD Creator 5, but that hasn't help. I can't restore or "roll back" the driver either. Also, the drive spins just fine. Furthermore, I just tried to install a Philips USB CD drive and that doesn't work too!
pc wont boot. its a sata hard disk which is detected upon boot. however i dont even get the windows splash screen. in the bios - the hd doesnt show up. safe mode doesnt work neither does last known good settings. i put the xp disk in and attempted to do an (install followed by a repair ) rather than system console. nothing works because the xp disk claims no hard drive exists. is it cos its serial ata. im not exactly sure if its got raid setup etc although i do possibly remeber a viaraidtool popup that might have come up on the odd times ive been over and used my dads pc to educate him on eBay. :-) anybody got an idea. sorry i dont have specs.
View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm using window's xp. whenever i start my i-tunes program, i get an error message telling me "i-tunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. audio/video lpayback may not work properly." at this point, i no songs will play, and the sound doesn't come through the speakers when i'm watching any videos on the web either. Every once and a while, my monitor will flicker, then power down, leaving me with no choice but to manually shut the pc down. in addition, the desktop and browser graphics have begun to deteriorate. they almost look like somethign from windows 95. i have no idea where to start,
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm running XP SP2 home addition 32 running on AMD64 processor with 1G ram. Most times XP doesn't recognize my Canon i350 printer even though the PC beeps to acknowledge that the printer is on-line through a USB connector. I've reinstalled drivers more than once and even used Plug&Play. Also I don't have any other printer drivers installed. Canon i350 is set as my default printer. Each time the problem occures I can get XP to recognize the printer by either turning the printer off and on again (to easy) and if that fails re-booting sometimes more than once.

Normal boot shows the windows initial screen, but eventually just restarts, safe mode does the same thing whether it's with network, command line or plain safe mode. Last known good configuration does the same.Needed to use a file so decided to remove the HD and re-install to another PC. I did have access to the file in question but now I'd like to fix the problem.
The other system uses AVG. I started a scan and it detected Cekar.d (A0003977.exe, wdfmgr.exe and initially ntldr.exe), Dropper.Inor (ntdetect.hta, A0003979.hta), PSW.Generic5.ABVW (ctfmona.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.AAFI (ctfmonb.exe), PSW.Generic5.AFYK (ctfmond.exe), PSW.OnlineGames.ZWT (LotusHlp.exe) and some others but for whatever reason the scan stopped. I restarted it and now the AV still finds most of the threats it was seeing before but not Cekar.d. in the ntldr.exe file.
I am running Win XP-SP2. I wiped my hard drive due to irresolvable software conflicts. I reinstalled XP-SP2, Office, Norton, the printer and scanner and my digital camera software package. All were updated and working perfectly until Sunday. I booted up the machine only to get a warning that says One of your disks may have errors let the computer reboot itself (which it will do repeatedly, stuck in a reboot loop) or you can hit any key to ignore this warning. You have only ten seconds to read all this and make a decision.
Once the computer boots up, everything seems to work as normal except for system restore. I tried to restore to the day after I reformatted and installed everything and all I get is an error saying Cannot restore to that point, please choose another point to restore tooor something to that effect.
I have a set of USB ports on the front of my machine and another set on the back. My ports on the back work fine and if i plug in my 2 pen drives in it works OK. But if I plug them in the front I get the error

The ports on the front work OK with my digital camera and joystick and my pen drive works on every other machine that I have put it in.
i have an mdg computer that came with vista, i used it for a while but realized i liked xp bettet so i decided to install it (i got a possibly pirated version from my friend) while look at intel.com for drivers i found out i had to find my system model. The mdg user guide said go to Start->Run and then to type msinfo32. i did that but than an error message popped up and said:cannot find msinfo32 and blah blah search. i went to search typed in msinfo32 opened the one that was in folder system32. than another error message: C:WindowsSystem32msinfo32.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I bought a Dell system with XP. After upgrading(incl. new motherboard) the already installed Nike Philips MP3 player "Digital Media Manager" software wouldn't work. Nike/Philips sent me to Dell who sent me back to Nike/Philips who then sent me to Microsoft who I have so far been unable to contact successfully.Tried to uninstall software but received variety of errors, incl. some Java ones. Eventually appeared to delete it but trying to reinstall software always displays "Digital Media Manager already installed". Have tried manually removing some Registry elements but I'm clearly missing some. Does anyone know precisely which Registry elements I need to remove for a complete manual uninstallation ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout ten days ago my Acer Aspire E360 (AMD 64 X2 3800, 2gb - Win Media Center 2005) started giving BSOD errors at startup. It would to into safe mode but no trouble shooting worked. Finally it wouldn't boot at all giving me the: NTLDR missing error. I downloaded the ISO that 'fixes' this error and it didn't work, saying that hal.dll was missing. My recovery disks - 6 in all - are available but when I booted from them they said that it would erase the entire C drive. In the meantime I downloaded ISOs to test the disk and the memory. Disk was fine, but there was one very bad memory stick, which I've replaced.
I don't want to lose the C: data. I did do an Acronis 10 backup just before it went totally down, but I'm not sure that the bad memory stick didn't corrupt data that's now backed up. A friend gave me a copy of a WinXP Pro (without serial number) to see if I could use the repair function. However, he only copied the files and did not clone the disk so it's not bootable. Using another computer I used Nero (Caldera DOS) to make a bootable disk. Unfortunately when I tried to boot up with it I got a warning: "EMM386 - address line A20 already enabled." and then it froze.
My Dell XPS Gen 3 from 2004 underwent a serious issue when I installed Kaspersky Internet Security resulting in BSoD when I booted computer. Long story short, I had to buy a replacement HDD as the original drive fell and now only plays music (Took it out to extract important files, all save, but when troubleshooting it back on PC with the recovery console it fell).
On my PC I had two extra HDDs, one at 170gigs for music/pics and some apps and a 500 gig for media and some apps. I unattached both those HDDs when I did a fresh install of XP Home Edition on my Dell XPS. After that install seeing everything loads and works as expected I powered down PC and attached my other two drives to get an Error Loading OS.
I am getting the blue screen of death with 7E error code. It gives me the standard message at top.This is the ONLY information listed where it says TECHNICAL INFORMATION:STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8A98AAB3, 0xBA513B98, 0xBA513894)I've tried system restore with no success. I have added no hardware or software recently. This started unexpectantly yesterday. The night before I went to a website and it was not a trusted website and I "x'd" out of it. The next day it does this.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to boot my computer reaches the windows screen then restarts, and keeps repeating this. Sometimes it throws up a bad pool caller error and a bsod. It gives me a Stop code: 0xc2 (0x43, 0xc3af4000, 0x0, 0x0) Additionally my keyboard no longer works, at least during startup which is all I can access. True for both USB and ps2 keyboard. The numlock light can be turned on but that's about it. So I know the connection is working but the boards still don't work, which means I've been unable to get to safe mode or into bios settings.

Auto Run and Auto Play just quit working. I did the basic, went to the drives concerned, the Auto Play is enabled, looks like.The msconfig option is out of my expertize level. Would someone know what happened, and how I can get those options working again?BTW, the System Restore quit working, too. I tried to roll back to a good working setting, but SR didn't restore. This problem has been going on a couple of months, slowly I've been getting a handle on it which seems to concern my scanner, although its been connected to the computer for years, it still works happily. I have not added anything, would have contributed to the problem, apart from regular updates from Microsoft, AVG etc. The version of svchost running is part of Windows Image Acquisition. It tends to be using somewhere between 6 and 20% of the processor. But the part which eventually causes the computer to slow down and crash is that it is adding about 100 handles a second, as seen in task manager. The computer gets slow, the screen doesn't refresh properly

When I pressed Go for the search, all kinds of files popped up in the search such as Realization.doc, Capitalization.xls, anything that had the letters liz in it when I had typed in the "File and Folder" box Liz (Capital L lowercase iz) and then a space after the z. I have files named Liz(space).this and Liz(space). that, and that's what I was searching for. But files still appeared that had lowercase liz in the middle of a word like Capitalization. So what's the point of having a Case Sensitive box to check, when it doesn't work! Am I doing something wrong here?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAlright, my in laws are having a problem with their computer and they said that last weekend Windows XP (SP3) asked to reactivate so they did without a hitch. I've never had a computer ask to do that unless I changed some hardware (which they did not) but maybe it's just never happened to me! So last week (a couple of days after the reactivation) they said weird things started happening. For instance if you go to the start menu to active windows, it comes up with a blank screen, the Windows search function comes up with a green screen and the little dog but that's it, IE doesn't load unless you type in an address and I couldn't get any web page to load that uses Active X. I ran the Kaspersky online test with no problems found and I couldn't run the antivirus from Eset because it requires Active X. Windows media player also doesn't load, it just brings up a blank screen. My father in law was able to defrag the computer though. I didn't have much time to really play with it so I'm not 100% sure what else isn't working but I know Firefox, Utorrent and VLC work fine. Has anyone had a similar problem or know where I should start to fix this?
