I have an HP Laser Jet 1012 that is assigned to port DOT4_001. I am trying to delete the port but each time I try, I get the following error message: "Selected port cannot be deleted.The request is not supported"I am running WinXP and have full administrative rights.I have also removed the printer and reinstalled it with the same results.

Multiple attempts will not reconnect me. When I try to install .Net runtime (any version), I get an error that says, ".Net is not supported on this platform." I've tried everything I can think of and read every thing I could find and nothing seems to work. It's becoming a problem because more and more software is requiring that you have it installed.Iread all the .net requirements on MS site and made sure that I meet all those requirements.Another board has suggested that I do a clean reinstall of 2000 pro and I'm prepared to do that, but I'd really rather not.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5000 with Vista home on it and it works OK, but I bought a larger HDD and I thought that I would put Windows XP PRO on it, I went from a Hitachi 160GB 2.5" SATA drive to a 250GB drive, same Manufacturer, the only difference in the drives is the original was a SATA 1.50 and the new drive is a 3.0, BIOS see's the drive and the XP disk does al the usual stuff, then it asks if you want to Install windows on it, so I click OK and then it says the windows cannot detect any HDD and aborts the installation, I know that the 2 SATA's are compatible and the only draw back is that the 3.0 may operate in the 1.5 mode in the worse case scenario, but windows doesn't see the drive at all.

View 10 Replies View RelatedThis pc has been with me for a few months, no poblems at all. One day it just Bsods. Thinking it was just some random WinXP error, I restarted it and never thought of it again, until it happened AGAIN. 3rd times the charm, right? WRONG. After a few more I couldn't do anything basically. Boot > Bsod. So after a few Google searches and self troubleshooting later I got it almost sorted out. Also if I take this HDD to another computer it works fine. So, the problem seems to be my IDE controller. (atapi.sys) So I am requesting a place where I can find a clean atapi.sys and go replace it with the windows system recovery console. Also I am curently running a full system check for viruses on that working computer.Stuff that I have tried while trying to fix the bsod: Changing IDE cables, Resetting the bios/cmos reset, plugging it into the secondary IDE port, playing around with jumpers, replacing RAM sticks.

I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
I have searched here and googled this error, and while I have found similar, nothing that same as this.I have been unable to update my Itunes, so after some research I realized it was the failure to update quicktime durring the Itunes update that was really happening. I have tried multiple things to fix this, all of which have been unsuccessful. Nothing would tell me why, just that quicktime failed to update.
My next step was to uninstall quicktime, this also failed with no reason why. So I attempted to Manually delete all quicktime files, and then run tuneup utilities to remove all registry entries. However when doing this I found I could delete all files, except the folder c:Program FilesQuickTimeQTSystem QuickTimeStreaming.Resourcesde.lproj . When I try I get the below error message Code: Cannot delete de.lproj: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error
Just formatted my desktop and installed a fresh copy of XP Pro on it. I did a search on google and found that some people said XP does not support directX 10, but then when you go to the directX website to download it, Windows XP IS under the list of "Supported Operating Systems". So is 10 supported by XP, or do I have to download 9.0c?

This app only uses the standard port 22.Is there anyway in XP for me to remap outbound port 22 to port 587? I found the firewall port settings but it will let you enter new ports and redirect them I believe but it won't let you edit any of the standard port settings.This is a tough one. I doubt there will be many, if any replies with a solution. But worth a shot.
