We have a hp with xp on it. It will not let me go passed this blue screen, it says that we have installed some new software or hardware that needs to be removed and we didn't. But it won't even let us look at the programs, it won't let us go to safe mode or anything.

I can't do anything else. I hit the F8 key when it was starting up but I didn't know what to do after that.
when i start xp pro the log on screen appears with user name and password and ok. then when i click ok the message appears ..your account has been disabled please see your system administrator. before this problem i had been into administrative tools/computer management/local users and groups/users and then clicked on my user name and disabled it.
i was trying to stop the log on screen but found when i have restarted the computer i have the problem above. i dont have the original xp discs as they came with the computer but have just installed windows media centre which upgraded my system to pro. is there away of starting the computer to fix this setting because i cant even get to the desktop
I had a malware issue I used a clear and after that when i rebooted it went to my user login screen when i click on a user it says logging on the goes directly to the saving setting mode and goes back to the user log in screen any ideas on how to get passed that?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have my friends laptop which after sorting malware problems and it working fine for 2 weeks it then would not allow him to get passed the Win XP Home Edition startup screen (where the scroll bar goes across the screen). I understand after reading some of the previous threads that loading up the boot disk and doing a repair may help; I want to give this a go but I do not have my friends boot up disk and he has gone on holiday however I do have an old Evaluation version of Win XP and Win XP Pro SP2, does anyone know if I can do the repair with one of these disks?
View 14 Replies View RelatedMy was on the computer last week sometime and got a pop-up saying that there was a backdoor virus and that the computer needed to be scanned. He hit OK thinking that he was doing something good. Since the scan ran, we have not been able to log in to the computer at all except in safe mode. I have tried uninstalling McAfee and then reinstalling but that didn't work. McAfee keeps telling me that I am not protected but when I try to fix it then it says that there were errors that can't be fixed. I don't think I have the boot disk and really need to get this computer working.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed a fresh copy of windows XP on my vaio VGN-SZ770N, everything was goin smooth untill i installed SP3, after installing SP3 and tried to restart my laptop, the laptop was on "Windows is shutting down" blue screen for like 30 mins, so i turned it off manually and turned it on again, now it stops on the black screen with windows XP logo and the loading animation and never get passed that, i can use it in safe mode only, the reason of me installing a win xp is that i had exactly the same problem when Vista was installed on the laptop, it wouldnt get passed the black loadin screen as well, im wondering if this is a hardware failure? Also before installing SP3 i had the Form1 window that pops whenever you start your computer

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............
I tried to install a web cam on my laptop but a box keeps appearing saying that the software has not passed the xp logo and the software will not be loaded any way round this.

This was just to double check that the system I was working on was absolutely up to date.Automatic update was set to Auto. Windows update website informed me that a critical update was required. it turned out to be the Windows Bogus (Genuine) Advantage Authentication... I had no choice but to Activate the system before I was allowed to continue checking for updates. Bloody cheek! passing off this 'Genuine advantage authentication' as a critical update. One day I am bound to come across a system that does not pass this authentication. Will the system be usable or will they lock the system until I have made a groveling phone call or worse have to inform my customer/neighbour/friend of a friend that "Sorry I know you just wanted me to check your system was up to date but now you must pay £200 for an Operating system"
Current situation: 2 minutes remaining in a repair installation of WinXP Home, I get an error with a large X and the words "has not passed Windows Logo testing." Below that, it says "This software will not be installed...." If I click OK or turn off at this point, the pc reboots and restarts the setup program at 39 minutes remaining. If the CD is not in place, I get a blue screen asking for the CD.

You can attempt to repair this file by putting the winxp cd in etc...
Now when i turn on my computer there is just a black screen showing, with nothing at all on it.

The error stated that I should run Chkdsk and then proceeds to restart and bring me to the Windows boot selection screen (safe mode, last known good configuration, normally). No matter which choice I pick, it always leads to the BSOD then restarts. Since this is getting me nowhere fast, I want to just format and reinstall windows. I do not have my recovery CDs, and when I enter the BIOS to change the boot sequence I cannot change it so the CD drive is above the hard drive in priority. The reason it gives me in the bios is that "All items on this menu cannot be modified in user mode. If any items require changes, please consult your system supervisor. Any ideas on how I can boot off the cd and reinstall windows from scratch?

what i've tried:
boot to Last Known Good Configuration - resulting in the same blue screen
boot to Safe Mode / Safe Mode with networking / Safe Mode with comman prompt - resulting in blank (black) screen with "Safe Mode" in the corners and moveable mouse test the hardware (hard drive / memory etc.) via build in PC Doctor - all seems to be working
i am able to use bootable XP CD from other machine to get into Recovery Console
i am able to boot to simple live XP using BartPE-XPE usb key and access the hard drive
Toshiba Satellite running on windows XP
When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.

But after reading it i think this is a different problem, so, here goes: I recently bought a new graphic card: Radeon all-in-wonder x1800xl. Installed it on a clean system (did a reformat before i installed). The problem occurs after usually 30-60 minutes of gaming (so far with oblivion, black & white 2). The game freezes for about 30 sec and then goes into blue-screen mode.
The message is as follows:
Kernel-Data-inpage-error stop error screen
then there are a lot of numbers etc.
I have sometimes noticed a slight change in fan noise prior to freeze (speeding up)
After reebot everything's back to normal.........
When I turned my computer on this morning it starts up but when it gets to the boot screen it gives me a blue screen but my computer instantaniously restarts so i have no idea what it said. What should I do I'm using ERD Commander 2005 and that let me boot into my computer but its limited I've never used ERD Commander before I've tryed a few things but nothing has worked yet
