Frequently when I right click anything, and occassionally when I select items for the start menu on my windows XP pro machine, the installation process for a program I already have installed wil begin - it must be manually cancelled (some times 2 or three times) before the originally requested response is given. At first it was Norton Anti Virus which attempted to install. More recently, Contribute seems to be the favorite. (Both are already installed).
i have 1 250G HD with three partitions, C: is only 5G and is only for OS but whenever i try to install something from a CD it automaticlly attempts to install in C:, what do i have to do to get it to install on a different partition?
I downloaded a program from Ebay and after installing it I noticed it didn't have a uninstall. I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

HDD less than half full, defrag shows not necessary. The computer starts ok but at some point in the process, it varies, it will freeze/lock and will not unlock and has to be rebooted, which in itself may not happen at the first or even second attempt. Computer blue screens with no specific error msg and everytime i try to do pretty much anything with safe mode regular mode last known good configurations but here is it blue screens off of two different windows xp pro install cds. I ran several of their debugin tests that came up clean although there was an error about the cpu fan speed. The tech support guy said that i need to wipe the hard drive. I recently downloaded the Indigo Prophecy Demo (Game) from fileplanet and when executing the installer a dos window would pop up and disapear real quick. So I ran the setup from command prompt and it ended up saying "Program Too Big To Fit Into Memory". At first I thought this was just a problem with this demo, until I tried to install the Starship Troopers Demo (Game) and it tried to install a third party audio system during install and hat installer did the exact same thing. I noticed that both of them appeared to Installshield brand and had the msi files with them. So I am assuming it's an issue with my computer
I had the program "Reallusion ItsMe" and it quit working for me, so wanted to reinstall it. However, when I used Add/Remove, it gave me the message that "error installing ikernel.exe: (0 x 10000)." I thought I would remove the non-working program manually, so I deleted all the files. I then removed the entry from the registry. I did a search for anymore files with the same name and found a few and deleted those too. Well I tried to reinstall the program again and keep getting a message that there is a previous version in my system and it can't install. Geesh, what more do I have to do? There is no previous program left as far as I know, the only one left is in the Add/Remove list.
I can no longer install any program with installshield. The process goes about 3/4th the way through and hangs up, no error message, it just stops. I have been able to install a program in safe mode but the program then does not work correctly. I also tried to uninstall a program and that process hangs up also.
i was trying to install an application from its installer. And i accidentally went to "open with" and selected another program, thus the installer package always opens in the other progam and does not run. I was wondering if there is a way to undo this process
I had WINDVD Creator installed on my system , XP Pro SP2. I had a problem( not related) so I did a fresh install. When I tried to put WIN DVD back in, I get the message, "This is not a Qualified machine". I went to their website and downloaded a trial version and it worked fine. I deleted the trial version and tried My Software install disc and got the same, This is not a qualified machine notice
i downloaded a trial program that expired now i want it off my machine including and most importantly my registry. what can i use to remove? i used the unistal.exe but there are still files there. can i just delete the folders then delete the entries in my registry?
I have xp, on my computer,I went onto the web,and downloaded sonic record now65 freeware into a folder in my documents, everytime I go to open it to use it to copy a dvd ,a window opens up saying that its all ready install, do I want to reinstall it, it won't open to enable me to use it to copy a dvd
hey i recently reformatted my harddrive and reinstalled windows xp pro on my hp zx5000 laptop with the winxp pro OS cd it came with, but now i cant install anything. its really weird i have never had this problem before. i get errors installing anything and ive tried reinstalling windows twice
When trying to install a program on my Pc i get an error from installshield. "1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime." I read another post about this very issue on this site but the link given and the Installshield website as a whole have been down for the past 3 days.I need the ISScript7.zip file if possible to start my project.
When I turn on my computer, it automatically tries to install some photo program. There are also other problems such as the computer restarting itself with no warning, and it sometimes reverts to a "blue screen of death" where my only choice is to turn off my computer manually. I'm wondering if something could have gotten past my anti-virus software.
I have tried to install adobe reader 9 but as i get to the end of the process i get the following message The windows installer could not be accessed.this can occure if you are running windows in safe mode or if windows installer is not correctly installed.
I've reformatted my hard drive and am doing a clean install of Windows XP Pro.I have an upgrade-version XP CD. With previous Windows versions, I could upgrade this way with no problem: I booted from the new CD, and at a certain point the install program asked me to insert my previous Windows CD to verify that I qualified for the upgrade., when I try to boot from my Windows XP CD, it says, "This program cannot be run in DOS mode." Does this mean I have to reinstall Windows 98 before I can install Windows XP? Or is there some other way to verify the upgrade?
Recently cleaned up a friend's very infected machine. The jury is still out as to how much damage was done (specifically to the registry), but something weird is going on. When I right click the C drive in My Computer, the EZ CD Creator 5 install program starts executing. I didn't see a autorun.inf file or on the drive which is the only thing I can think of. Any ideas?
Figured I'd add some more info. I've installed a second drive to take backups to. Backup of 12G of data to the drive while the OS was up took 1.5 hours, took much less from an emergency disk, weird. XP SP2 256K memory. I'm also getting a windowformsparkingwindow popup on a shutdown. Reasonably sure this is due to HP stuff on the machine. Java is busted up but I wanted to start getting the backups going before uninstalling that and reinstalling.
when i try to install some program the only thing i see is some message in the middle on the screen.over the top 16 bit windows subsystem on blue.below i see this:c:windowssystem 32autoexec.nt,the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications.choose close to terminate the application.i cant opend the program.what is the mistake?thanks for the attention.i always admire the brilliant people.
