I have xp, on my computer,I went onto the web,and downloaded sonic record now65 freeware into a folder in my documents, everytime I go to open it to use it to copy a dvd ,a window opens up saying that its all ready install, do I want to reinstall it, it won't open to enable me to use it to copy a dvd

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust downloaded the "Checkit PE Diagnostic ESD for DriverAgent" onto a floppy diskette as directed by DriverAgent.com. After placing it into the floppy drive and rebooting as directed, the program began to boot but hung up about halfway through the process and the PC would not boot until I removed the flopppy and then all worked well, except.now the floppy drive will not respond to any commands and the PC freezes completely. It will not respond until I manually shut it down from the tower button. Once I fire it up again all is well until the same happens if I try to use the floppy drive.

I used my add & remove program to uninstall the program but not all of it got uninstalled. I deleted the folder and then did a search in my registry for anything with refernce to the programs name "Ebay's Blackthorne" and deleted all entries with that name.Every time I reboot windows tries to install something for Blackthorne and I have to keep cancelling it out.

Since installing IE 7 from the MS update site the program no longer works. The dialog box comes up but nothing happens when you click on a button to go to the site. Normally IE opens up and takes you to the site. I'm running Zone Alarm Internet security Suite and haven't changed anything in that program.

Program still doesn't find it. Think it may be a registry problem but am hesitant to fool around with it. Anyone know how to make XP default to DX8.1? (There are other DirectX's in registry, i.e DX3, DX6 etc. Think it may be defaulting to one of these.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLet's say I want to make Adware invisible to anybody who uses my computer. Some real primitive answer is to delete it from the menu and also its shortcut icon. The problems is that you can still see it if you go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Is there any way to make it invisible there and other places where it can be seen as installed? I've found tons of software to just "hide it away with a keystroke," like when you're trying to "hide it from your boss." In that case what you can do is just use Alt+Tab and Presto !
I've just had to install my machine after a major malfunction. It's running fine now, but everytime I install a new program, when I restart the machine, all the newly installed programs' folders pop up (e.g. showing the uninstall and help links in the program's particular folder; it usually happens with new software just the once) - and it's getting ridiculous. I have to close each folder one by one.

View 2 Replies View Relateda program called "System Guard 2008" has installed itself. It slowed down quite a bit and eventually crashed on me. Now it wont boot up all the way. I turn it on, it will get all the way to the Windows password screen, then once I enter my password and click on the green arrow, I get a warning message that my paginf file is either non existant or too small. Then once I click "OK" on that warning message, the screen blacks out, restarts the boot process, gets to the password screen, and that cycle just continues over and over. I don't know where to put this topic. But alright so basically yesterday I started having this problem. When I go to anything that uses Java such as Geocities my computer starts making a chugging noise and the browser (IE or Firefox) crashes. It brings up one of those senseless error messages about something failing. I'd look now but it'd close this screen. I tried uninstalling Java but when I try uninstalling the JS2E Runtime Enviroment 5.0 Update 5 it won't let me uninstall either. It makes the same noise and freezes up the window. What in the hell do I do? I've never had a problem quite like this.

After clicking on the selected updates to download (only the critical ones), the updates start to download, but then a notice that says the updates were "unable to be successfully installed". There is no reason for this given and no other error message.This happened to me in Feb. and I was able to google the error message Windows update gave me. The solution involved going into DOS & clearing something, but I can't remember what it was or where I found the instructions to do it.
