I noticed this morning that all my Quicklaunch icons had stopped showing labels.. restart fixed the prob, but only temporarily. Is there a fix that will save me the bother of frequent restarts?

i seem can't find the answer to. When browsing the internet usually in a website when i go to click on something on the site (IE espn.com clicking on NFL News)I am brought to a Yahoo Search page. It started about 2 weeks ago and first the search page brought back results for UNDETERMINED, then a couple days ago it brought back results for BLLOCKEDDEFFERED. Now it is bringing back results for UNDETERMINED again. Nothing to my knowledge has been changed on the computer in terms of programs.
I have XP, when I search on google and click on a provided link I am redirected to another web site, usually eBay. I ran Hijackthis, from the instructions off of another thread, and got the below results.
I have been doing some searches for files on my machine running windows XP and I'd like to delete the history of those searches... is there a way to do this? I'm NOT computer literate.
The hardware wizard in XP searches for vid_04e6 pid_80002000 at every start. I've heard that those with an HP 3200c scanner can have this problem. I downloaded the driver for it but still get the message. Any way to get rid of it? I've tried disabling and removing the device, but it comes back at bootup.
so i dunno what i horked one day...but for the past year when i double click a folder ( i.e My Documents or files contained within ) i get the search box instead of the folder opening right up. In order for me to open a folder, i need to right-click and 'open any way for me to tweak this back into some sort of normalcy?

i have a problem with windows whenever i try to search a folder. i type in what i'm looking for but when i hit enter the page shows the standard "page cannot be found". at the top it says that interent explorer has restricted content that could access my computer. this is obviously a load of crap because all i'm trying to do is use the search function. it's not just when i try to search that it happens, it also happens when i try to get to "my network places" using the locations found at the side of the screen when i'm in my computer.
I accidently turned of that Quicksomething feature window that pops up the first time u open internet explorer and it remembers all the terms you have previously search for. like at google, next time u come back and start typing the thing u want to search for it will show a drop down list with al the things you ahve searched for
I was playing around with IE one day and I found out that you can override any homepage setting in Internet Options. If you have spyware, or come accross it frequently, then this is a very good tweak for you. 1. Right-click on the IE icon on your desktop. 2. Select Properties3. Now in the "Target" box you will see "C:Program FilesInternet ExplorerIEXPLORE.EXE" Now by adding the url of the site to the end of this it overrides any Homepage setting in internet options. ex: "C:Program FilesInternet xplorerIEXPLORE.EXE" www.sdgamerz.tk Editor's note: This works only with a custom shortcut to Internet Explorer not the default one that opens Internet Options when you choose "properties".
I'm a regular FF user, but lately just for kicks I have been using IE. Now for some reason, no matter what I set my home page to(blank, default, Google.com), And all I see is a blank blue page, with a title bar of "Customize Your Settings".
I just bout a new IBM/Lenovo X40. It has winxp pro and internet explorer 6.0. The default homepage is msn.com. Everytime I change it to something else it will change right back to msn.com when I reboot.
Every time I log on my web browser takes me to my hme page although it is set at 'About Blank' When I close this down it asks me if I want to disconnect. How can I stop this happening? Also, I am about to change from dial up (yep a bit slow) to broadband. Is it best to remove my old dial up programme? It also came with basic Norton security but I looked in Add/Remove progs to uninstall but can't find it anywhere?
When i try to log in i get error message 80048820 i have tried EVERYTHING, i have looked on websites and tried all the things they suggested for this problem, but it still ceases to wAlso since this problem has been occuring, internet explorer keeps setting the hompage to http://www.messengersite.net/forum/portal.htm and whenever i reset it to bbc.co.uk, it goes back the next time i open a new explorer window, i think these two might be linked somehow, any suggestions lads
analyzing registry searches for invailid references in the registry.windows history list invalid, this file could not be found in the indicated folder.when i delete , when restore says no problem
When trying to check "my account" on a webpage it doesn't let me navigate, it boots me out back to the sign in page. I can sign in and see the welcome page (it says "Welcome and my name") but when I try to go to another page in the site (for example "my account") it won't let me go. Also my internet homepage is Yahoo, when I refresh or open to the homepage Yahoo never loads ... I have to click "GO" to get the page to load. Are these two problems related somehow? Anyone?
A friend has windows xp professional and is having problems setting up a home page. He has tried going to control panel and it seems that it just will not take it.
i took my computer to pc world to have a new driver fitted and now when i click on internet icon to connect it connects up ok but wont open my home page. it just stays on my desk top. i have to double click on the icon again to open it up. not a big problem but i just want it back to how it was.
Internet Explorer/Internet Options/Homepage has a lot of addresses for Homepage options that are sites I've visited but never used for my homepage, and I can't get rid of them. Delete doesn't work, control/delete doesn't work.
When I use Juno on my HP it stops responding while loading its homepage. I can end the program now. Click on Internet Explorer and continue in the Internet. But then come the problem. About a half hour after I close the Internet Explorer. My machine freezes. I pull the plug plug it back in and it boots up like nothing happens. I have a dual boot on this machine. Just put in Linspire about two weeks ago because of this problem. Juno works fine under Linspire. So I know it is not Juno nor HP so it has to be with Windows XP.
Major virus infection on computer resulted in fdisk and reformat. I used Win 98SE to fdisk and reformat, as I couldn't for the life of me find a format on the Dell Operating reinstallation CD. (could be first mistake)
Used Win 98 SE startup diskette to start system w/CD rom support.
Navigated to D: Drive which containe the XP OS reinstallation. Navigated to I386 folder and typed WINNT to begin reinstalling files.
Start WIn XP setup and began copying files to HD.
Screen shows: The MS-DOS based portion of setup is complete. Setup will now restart you computer. After your computer restarts, WIN XP Setup will continue. Remove floppy, etc.
Computer restarts - did inspection of system, shows Win XP Setup, loading files (drivers, controllers, etc.)
Starting windows - Welcom to Setup: 1. Setup - press enter 2. Repair (using Repair Console) 3. Quite - F3
Pressed enter
Next message:
Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer. This may involve running a mfg supplied diagnostics or setup program.
Setup cannot continue Press F3
System then attempts reboot, attempts installation again by booting from HD. Then error message:
Dell Deminsion 4600 series p4 processor @2.4 GHz 512 MD DDR SDRAM @ 400 MHz 128 MB DDR NVidia GeForce FX 5200 graphics card 80GB 7200 RMP Ultra ATA HD Win XP Pro SP1 48x/24x/48x CD-RW Drive SoundBlaster Live! w/ 5.1 support
I have looked on MS site for the error code and think I understand that the problem is either a hd controller device driver is not installing from the Dell Reinstallation CD and therefore stops the installation of the software. How I can possibly extract and install the driver setup may be looking for.
STOP 0x00000050 (0x8CCC1345, 0x0000001, 0x808A65A1, 0x00000000) These both happen when installing windows, either when at 95% of copying files or when booting into windows.
