Apps / Software :: Unable To Install NET Framework 3.5 On Windows 8.1 - Can't Find Specified File
Oct 24, 2013The problem is that I can't install the .NET Framework 3.5 on my Windows 8.1 because when i try to install it, appears:
"Can't install the following feature: .NET Framework 3.5
Can't find the specified file. Error: 0x80070002"
The same if i download the dotNetFx35setup.exe setup from Microsoft Website. I tried also in other 2 ways suggested here (Installazione di .NET Framework 3.5 in Windows 8) :
- In Control Panel -> Programs -> Enable or disable Windows Features -> .NET Framework 3.5 but i receive the same error
- I insert Windows 8 DVD in the D: Unit and i type in the prompt command this code:
Code: DISM /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:NetFx3 /All /LimitAccess /Source:d:sourcessxs
But I receive this error:
"Features Activation: 99.8%. Error: 2. Can't find the specified file"

Jul 24, 2014Yesterday, after many, many problems with my computer, I finally decided to reinstall Windows 8.1 Pro onto my ASUS X200CA netbook. However, after backing up and reinstalling the OS, I found that when I tried to disable "Launch CSM" in my BIOS, all of my boot options would disappear and my laptop would continually boot into my BIOS. When I re-enabled "Launch CSM", the boot options would reappear - however, it had not included the "Option #1 - Windows Boot Manager" that I had seen in my other installation.

Jul 5, 2014I have a xbox that I have used (successfully, for about a year) as an extender for WMC 8. Im not sure what I did, but I am now unable to connect to my HTPC running win 8.1 pro. I have tried everything that even sniffs of a solution but I still get the error "unable to find extender". I can use the xbox to watch Hulu, Netflix but no WMC. My PC sees my xbox, however when I try to "test PC connection" thru the xbox System Settings/Network Settings/Test PC Connection I get, "network connected" - OK, then "PC Not Listed". I cant access my PC from the xbox "video player" either.
Ive tried all the popular fixes, turned off firewall, enabled extender services -- only to have them mysteriously disabled as soon as I attempt the extender setup process. Same mysterious disabling of the "Media Center Extenders" checked box in the "Allowed apps to communicate through Windows Firewall". Ive addressed all the sharing issues I can find, still nothing.

May 11, 2014I have never used 'Bluetooth' before. I want to transfer a file between my laptop and Android tablet. I turned Bluetooth 'on' (which I have installed the latest driver) on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I turned Bluetooth 'on' on my Android 4.1.1 tablet. I had my laptop search for 'Bluetooth' devices, but my tablet is never found. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Jun 17, 2014I have an Asus S200E and I had been messing with linux and trying to install it alongside windows 8.1 with no joy.After a while I gave up but i've had a few issues with my laptop and wanted to either refresh or reset it.
When I try to refresh I get a message saying that the drive is locked and when I try to reset I am told the recovery partition is missing. I guess I must have done something when attempting to install linux that has caused this problem however when I open up the partition manager the recovery partitions are all still there.
Tablets :: Dell Latitude 10 Essentials - Cannot Use System Recovery
Jul 24, 2013I've got this Dell tablet and it's touch screen has gone kaput. It works sometimes, it doesn't most of the times. It has gotten worse in the last few days. It only used to do that when resuming from Standby previously.
There is nothing I can do about it from my end. I have contacts Dell support and it seems they will take it back for repairs.
In the meantime, my recovery partition seems to be not working either. I first wanted to factory reset it to see if it is a software issue. (Easier to RMA as well) Dell has their own recovery software called Dell Backup and Recovery and it doesn't work. It would reboot back to Windows 8's recovery environment (F8) and wait there. I have used Recovery once and maybe it screwed up everything. I don't know.
I tried Windows Refresh and Recovery features and they don't work either. Refresh asks me to insert the media .
Recovery tells me that i cannot find a recovery image in my drive.
I have used Refresh many times when the touch screen problem originally appeared, and then it didn't ask for the install media. Seems that it was using the recovery image that was originally in the drive.
Now the recovery image is either missing or inaccessible by any sort of recovery. I tried creating a Recovery media using the Dell Backup and Recovery software and it also stops saying that an error has occurred. How informative.
This is the current state of Disk Management screen. Why are there so many partitions? The right click menu only pops up for C: partition. It's empty for other partitions.
BTW, I have Windows 8.1 Preview installed as well. I have used Refresh few times after that as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the issue. But it would be great if I can reset it back to factory image before sending for RMA.

By the way, I can't install any other Windows Essentials 12 applications either, such as SkyDrive and Windows Live Messenger. I get the same error code, only with a different "source".

Dec 16, 2013I thought that Windows 7 search was bad until I started trying to search for my many videos in my win 8 laptop. I even used KIND:= VIDEOS but the search came up empty???? This frustration never used to happen with win XP. I tried all manner of searches and although I have hundreds of videos still the search could not find a single one. Any third party search that is at least as good as XPs? I often do searches and need to use wildcards because of the plethora of files I have. If possible I would prefer a free search application.
I use the excellent Classic Shell. With my fast booting win 8 (fast booting is the only positive thing about win 8 I have encountered so far).

Dec 7, 2013I figured out how to search but Windows 8.1 stopped searching for files. I type a word in the window and nothing happens after I hit enter.
I searched the web and suggestions say to use the charms menu but I haven't figured out how to search a thumb drive with the charms menu search.
When I insert a thumbdrive, the window opens and I type in the Search Toshiba (G) box and hit enter and nothing comes up and Windows can't find its own files on a thumb drive but it works on the C drive.
I keep turning on another computer with Windows XP to do searches or I use Windows 7 and I can get around a little.
The screen shots on the internet doesn't seem to work or relate with my system.

I visited this link -- Upgrade Windows with only a product key - Microsoft Windows Support, clicked the "Install Windows 8" button, ran the setup file that downloaded, and when prompted for the product key, entered it, only to see the message.
The product key cannot be used to install a retail version of Windows 8.
Is there another ISO I should be using? Ultimately I'm trying to get an ISO for use with my VMWare Fusion 6 install running on my Mac (10.9.1). I'm confident the product key given to me by my company is legit, but it obviously isn't a retail product key, probably some kind of corporate key or the equivalent.
Where Can Find Windows Explorer In Event Viewer
Jan 1, 2014I started up my computer and Windows explorer randomly froze up and hung. I didnt do anything to provoke it. I just sat here waiting for my computer to boot up.Then when I thought it was finished I opened firefox. Then Windows explorer just freezes completely. I tried doing windows key + r. It opened the run window but it froze. Then I tried moving my mouse on the right to open up the charm bar, ( I think it's called that) to hit settings and then restart. When I clicked settings the whole bar just closed out and would close out every time.
I right clicked on the task bar to try and open task manager. When I clicked on task manager it wouldn't ever open. So I couldn't even shut down properly. I just pushed the power button. Then I turned it on again and the same exact thing happened.So I shut it off again.
Then I turned it back on and went to msconfig before it froze up and I set it to boot into safe mode.Then I got into safe mode and ran a malware bytes scan and an avast scan. Nothing came up on either so I just went back to normal boot. The problem stopped now but I want to know what caused that whole thing to happen because it hasn't happened to me before.So I want to look at event viewer to see if that'll explain it. Where would I find that at in event viewer?

since then any desktop shortcuts which pointed to a website now just bring up the google search screen.
