Aug 16, 2012I'm trying to keep the windows 8 start screen open on one screen and have the other open to the desktop, but any time I click an app on the desktop the 2nd screen with the Windows 8 start screen minimizes. Is there any way to change this behavior?

May 16, 2014Trying to create an ISO of the windows 8.1 dvd. I want to make a bootable USB stick when I go to install it to speed things up and make a backup copy. I can create the ISO using Alcohol 120 but when I use the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to open the ISO it says it is not a valid ISO file.
Every other bit of software can read it okay so it is an ISO file as far as I can tell.
Re-create System Partition?
Jun 1, 2014I have a UEFI PC with an SSD and an HDD. I installed Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 8.1 on the SSD.
For reasons I don't understand, Windows created the system reserved partition on the HDD, not the SSD. Not knowing this, I erased and reformatted the HDD, and now the system will not boot. The Windows 8.1 install is still present on the SDD, but the system reserved partition is absent.
Is there a way to re-create the system reserved partition? I have the Windows 8 install DVD, but the upgrades to 8.1 were made using Microsoft Update and the Microsoft Store.

Oddly enough, I can access the usb drive through my computer and copying/moving etc files still works. How can I make it so it appears?

This is pretty insane because all I had to do was enter an email address; no name, no password, nothing. Now, all I have is an email address, and of course no name and no password. So, exactly how am I supposed to enter a name and password din SQL server, for the security to work, or whatever, when these things don't exist, and there's no way to create them.
I've been working on this project for weeks now, simply because every time I need to do something, I literally can't do what I need to do.
The REAL problem is that I have to use SQL Server to login to Windows. My Windows 8 works fine, and my SQL Server works fine, but they won't work together. That's the entire problem that I'm dealing with.

Feb 20, 2013well i created a homegroup for my 4 pc's, but with the last one i get the message that the Revo user changed the password.
A user wanting to join the homegroup cannot change the password......normally.
To restart from scratch, i led everyone leaving the homegroup at least i did that since all 4 hardly are used at one time.
Now the only thing i can do is to join a homegroup, while there is no homegroup....
So i type in a password and get the message "there is no homegroup".
when troubleshooting, i get the message that i did not join a homegroup, thus am no member.

So now I have my computer back, and I am trying to set up the accounts, but I cannot do anything as I am no longer an admin. From what I have gathered, im up the creek without a paddle!
