My friend happened to look in Devices and Printers, and in the Multimedia Devices section he had about 10 devices showing up that he never heard of. Six of them were computers with names that he had never heard of, the others were devices that we could not tell what they were.
I expect that these entries mean that at some time they were on the same network that he was on. Would that be correct?
If so, then it is a matter for concern because he never goes on public networks. He only goes on his network at home, and a network in a small office that he rents and shares with one other person. They have their own router with security set up on it, and that router is connected to an Ethernet jack that most likely goes to a switch on a network that also provides internet service to some other offices in the same building.
This computer is only about 2 months old, so these entries can't be too old.
When I looked at his computer, he was on his home network and all those other devices showed as Offline. I right clicked on them all and removed them. Would it be a good guess that perhaps the security of the network at his office was compromised, and those devices were connected to that network at some point?
I told him to monitor and see when they reappear, but he won't be back in that office for 2 weeks.

On Windows 8, from time to time, all of my USB devices suddenly stop working, and the systray notifies that my "USB devices are not recognized." A reboot rectifies the problem, but the problem happens about once or twice a week.
Just a few weeks prior I had all of my USB devices going to a powered hub, which then was plugged into my computer. I happened to change motherboards from a Biostar 770E to an Asus M5A97 R2.0, which has plenty of USB ports. I hadn't bothered to eliminate the hub yet, and just as with the old motherboard, this one exhibited the "device not recognized" error. Ah ha, I thought! My USB hub has gone south.
So I threw it in the garbage, and plugged all of my USB devices directly into the motherboard (USB 3.0 portable drive, Logitech M705 wireless mouse, Belkin Wireless adapter, printer, and Remote Wonder. So I was quite surprised today when my USB devices dumped out, and Windows messaged me that my "USB devices are not recognized." I should note that I have installed AMD chipset drivers from the Asus website, as the board was quite unstable without them. With the Biostar, I opted not to install third party chipset drivers and it ran fine without them.

I just updated to windows 8.1 yesterday all is good, today I receive a update for Advanced Micro Devices graphics adaptor WWDM1.2 AMD Radeon HD 75209. It failed came back as error 80070103 says trying to install a driver that's already installed or a driver of less compatible . So I looked in add and remove I do see a advanced micro device but I don't know if it's the same or better how do I find out. I also googled it and read that it's never advised to update drivers threw windows update, go directly to the makers web site so how did this happen and what should I do?

I have recently built a new computer and installed Windows 8. All was running fine (including USB devices such as iPhone, flash drive etc), however since upgrading to Windows 8.1, none of my USB devices are showing up at all. Oddly, the mouse and keyboard still work.
When I go into the BIOS, all my devices (iPhone, Flash drive, keyboard and mouse etc) all show up in there, so I'm guessing it's a driver/Windows 8.1 issue that I'm missing?
I have been to the ASUS website and downloaded all the drivers I can find, but still no luck.
My motherboard is an "Asus Z97 Pro". I have tried contacting Asus support, but they are completely useless!

Windows 8.1 on Acer 5920G (WiFi adapter and more devices can't run)
After installation Windows 8.1 on my (ok old) laptop all seems normal but after reboot no WiFi, no Internet, no working WiFi adapter (the device can't start).
In device manager, wifi card (try 2 different intel cards Intel WiFi Link 4965AGN and Centrino Advanced-N 6250 AGN) can't start to work.
In the device manager 2-3 more unknown devices (yellow mark, no drivers or can't start work) but without Internet i can't try to fix this problems (2 pci devices and this one intel communication device).
I try all the known ways to add drivers (setup, manual....no internet) or to make it work but nothing, the devices don't works, can't start works (error code 10, i think).
So what can i do? NO windows 8.1 on my laptop? Now back to Windows 8.
My laptop Acer Aspire 5920G | CPU: T9500 (max 2800MHz) | VGA: Nvidia 9600M GT (512Mb) | RAM: 4GB | HDD: Seagate Momentus XT Hybrid 500GB (SSD/HDD 7200 RPM) | OS: Windows 8 Pro wmc 64bit

After upgrading to 8.1 all of my previously listed devices are no longer listed under devices... in fact there are no devices listed. I can also not add a device. If I look in device manager they are listed there and if I go to print the printer shows up and I can print. The screenshot below shows what I see when I open "Devices and Printers" in control panel. The biggest issue is not being able to add devices like Bluetooth speaker.

I'm a new Windows 8.1 user. Over the past two days two separate unknown network devices have appeared under 'This PC' in Windows Explorer (see screenshot below for the current one, along with its properties window). It appears people are able to access this computer - so a big problem!
As far as I can tell, all my security settings are in place (password on wireless network, all sharing disabled in Network and Sharing Centre, Windows Firewall is active, Windows Media Sharing is off).
How to close what I assume is a security loophole?

I have run into a problem with my Windows 8 computer once in a while, it's that my PC doesn't recognize USB ported devices as supposed to, but it does recognize things such as a wireless mouse and keyboard. Now, my question is, can I buy a wired Xbox 360 controller and connect it to my computer, and trust it to download the drivers correctly, and work like it's supposed to? I have got a new game, and really want the controller to work for it.

I have been several problems for a while since I installed Windows 8.
Firstly my screen and WiFi randomly stop working (at different times).
The screen goes blank (black) and it won't do anything (even caps lock) so I think it's completely frozen. Usually I hard reset, but today I got distracted and it eventually came back. No event logs or anything.
With the wifi, it says it can't detect any networks (red cross icon) and again the only fix is a hard reset, reinstalling drivers doesn't work.
Finally, recently my fingerprint scanner wouldn't let me log in. It says in biometric devices that it's unavailable, but none of the explanations applicable. I tried deleting my metrics and reinstalling but nothing...
I have an HP pavilion tx2 1250ea but I had to replace the motherboard and it's a 1050 or something, but obviously it's compatible.

After I upgraded my windows 7 to windows 8 pro I had this problem . There are four devices that have a yellow exclamation mark showing in the Device manager.
They are WAN Miniport (IKEv2 / L2TP/PPTP/SSTP)
All of them show this error: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
I don not know what these devices do or how to fix it .. I have also problem in Merto apps they cannot connect to the internet even though I can browse and download .. I do not know if those WAN Miniport devices cause this problem.

I am trying to use PS Media Server with Windows 8.1, but honestly whatever app I am using is irrelevant. The problem is, when I try to connect my PS3 to PS3 Media Server, it seems to require me to go into the right side menu, click settings, then change PC settings, then click network and then under connections, click my network connection and turn on "Find Devices and Content".
However, as you can see from my screen shot, that option is missing.
I am on my PERSONAL laptop, connected to a private network (it doesn't matter if I use my wireless or wired connection direct to the router it doesn't show up either way). I have tried enabling and leaving a homegroup, neither of which works.

I just recently bought a new HTPC server and installed Windows 8.1 on it. Everything seems to work great except my USB mouse and keyboard. The range of these wireless devices dropped to just about one meter. They work further away if I lift them high in the air but from waist level they only work from very close ranges. Before they used to work perfectly from distances up to 5 meters.
What's odd is that the USB recievers are in the exact same spots as they were in my old computer. I have an extender cable and a hub so there are no obstacles between the recievers and the devices. I'm not sure whether this is because of Windows 8 or because of the new hardware. My previous computer was a laptop running Win7 but the new one is a desktop. The devices seemed to work bad even in BIOS so I suspect it's the hardware.
I have installed latest drivers, replaced batteries and tried different positions for the recievers but nothing seems to fix this issue. I have not added any new wireless devices in the household.

I've tried ASUS K55A Qualcomm Atheros BlueTooth Driver 8.0.1.306 for Windows 8.1 64 bit ... and it does not work. The various errors that I get when I try different drivers including the above, are they in the picture with numbers 1 and 2.
The computer I have is an ASUS N56VM with windows 8.1. There are also other drivers for other devices in the computer that can not be installed after windows 8.1 been installed. could it be that the bluetooth device require any other device works? such as support for hotkeys.

I have a bluetooth module (Broadcom 2070) installed in my laptop. The hardware seems to be functioning fine (at least from Device Manager). However, when I go to Bluetooth Settings, all I see is this:
I'm not able to remove the Bluetooth Mouse there, and I'm also not able to detect any Bluetooth devices at all. I've even tried to use a Bluetooth dongle but to no avail. I've seen some suggested solutions to enable Bluetooth Support Services (which I have, and placed under Local Access), but this doesn't work for me as well.

I have a tablet that I installed Windows 8 Pro on.
Actually, I have installed Windows 8 Pro on 2 of these same tablets with the same problem.
They both have bluetooth and the bluetooth is on...and Windows 8 installs a driver for the bluetooth, but there is no bluetooth icon down by the clock in the systray.
From my understanding of Windows, if that bluetooth icon is not in the systray, something is not configuired right.
I can use a USB bluetooth dongle, and after it installs those drivers the bluetooth icon is present the systray. So, it likes the dongle. But, I don't know what the issue can be with the onboard bluetooth.

I read somewhere that the Bluetooth physical transmitter sends out some type of signal into the environment. I also read that it's probably not harmful... but since I probably will not be using Bluetooth in the immediate future, it's probably better off.
Is there an easy way in Windows 8 to shut off Bluetooth for now?

I have a smartphone and a PC with Windows 8 Pro 64 bits. They are paired using bluetooth. But everytime I want to send a file from my smartphone to the PC, I get a confirmation box in Windows 8, asking me if I want to accept or reject the file.
The problem is that in my PC, I have a fullscreen application, and I want that my users use nothing but my application. They should not have any access to any Windows menu or window.
So, how is it possible to disable this confirmation box, so Windows could automatically accept any sent file ?

I currently use Win 8 on my main PC and on my laptop, I need to connect a Bluetooth speaker to either of them but keep running into the same problems. The PC is an Asus P8Z77V De-luxe, with its own Broadcom WIFI and Bluetooth. The Laptop is a Lenovo Z480, again with Broadcom WIFI and Bluetooth.
Whenever I try to connect the speaker, the device is detected correctly, then as soon as I click on it to install/pair, Win 8 begins to start pairing, but then shows the device as "offline" It does the same with the PC and the Laptop.
The speaker is working fine as is the Bluetooth - it connects flawlessly with my Samsung S3 - I have updated my Bluetooth drivers, uninstalled them, reinstalled them and nothing allows the pairing to complete. I have a Bluetooth headset and it has the same problem when I try to connect to my PC, but works ok with my laptop.

I have installed window 8 pro 32 bit.
I have HP 630 laptop ( 2GB RAM , 320 GB HDD , intel i3 processor ) after that my blue tooth is not working ....
Few more drivers of intel are not working (not getting installed ) ( error is : The installer can not run this platform . Please select package for your operating system)
Its atheros driver . Previously it was working fine with window 7 32 bit. A friend of mine told me that window 8 does not require drivers to be installed provided by laptop vendor.
But again as i told above my blue tooth not working. Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) is also not getting installed.
Is there an problem with system performance if all drivers are not getting installed due to error

I think I know what "Bluetooth" is, and since I didn't think I needed it, I disabled it in Device Manager. Also, uninstalled it in Add & Remove programs. But I just ran the 'reliability monitor' / view reliability history, and saw all the "successful" installations of "Bluetooth". There were "nine" listings. More then I removed.
I have been checking what works and doesn't work to speed up and improve performance of my computer. And the plan is very much working. The computer is working great, with average boot times under 40 seconds, and my Firefox browser is 'flying'. Since I am adding some more memory in a day or two, I'm trying to see what works and do a 'reformat', complete reinstallation of the system. Setting up everything the way I want it. "Right" the first time if you will, and then be done with any testing and just using the computer.
Anyway, obviously, I'm not touching "Bluetooth". But what is it, and why does windows 8.1 think I need it. I don't have any wireless stuff, if that's what its for. And I just assumed that if I ever did need 'wireless', I would just download something.
Dell Inspiron 3647 computer, 3GHz, 4 gig's memory, all windows updates, windows 8.1.
