View 4 RepliesI've recently installed Start Menu 8 to create a win 7 menu and bypass the tiles, but now I don't see IE 10 listed anywhere. Where could it go? I didn't think you could get rid of IE10. I use Chrome as my default browser, but I would like to open IE 10 if needed.
How do I get IE 10 back? Reinstall?
when i right click on a JPG file i get open with then click choose default program at the bottom of the menu list.
and i get this

I found a way to get my list of programs on to the tool/task bar. From there I dragged one of the programs to the desktop thinking it would just create a shortcut. It didn't. It took the program off the dropdown list and put it on the desktop. I can't find a way to put it back in the drop down list of programs. I realize it's not earth shattering but it is definitely a huge annoyance to me since I want to have a 'shortcut' on both the programs drop down list and on the desktop.

But now 10 years later on windows 8.1 ....
I am trying to display my desktop icons as a list. Note: I am using the "Windows 8" app (the add-on start button).
Windows 8 does not offer this setting, but there is an app: [url].....
However, everytime I reboot, my carefully sorted list icons are re-organized into one column on the left.
What's the comparable way in Windows 8 to make all items in all folders as "list" pls. This is what I do in Win7.
1.open any folder
2.on the right with arrow down, pull down menu list,Details,Titles,Content. Choose list
3.on the left under Organize, pull down menu to Folder and search option
4.click on View tab
5.Apply to Folders
6.OK.
Any way to make all items in a folder appear as List.
I just stumbled upon this list of Windows 8 shell commands:

As example you can enter this in the Run line to open Quick Launch folder:

List of Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows 8 Pro. I just installed it today and that would be very useful in the navigation.

Also, I installed a VST plugin (software music synthesizer) and the first thing it did was check for updates (it phoned home), why wasn't that automatically blocked until I explicitly added a firewall exception? I don't get it.
I have like 500 mp3 divided in many folders.
What I want is a fast way to see them in one only list in alphabetical order, but I don't know how to do it without taking them out of the folders, which is a bad idea to put them in again one by one.
I would like to get a list and also a way to keep it and knowing the last additions I made by date.
When I open a website on my Desktop & decide to 'Add to Favourites', how can I get it also listed in my 'Favourites' list in 'File Explorer'?

If I was chatting on Skype I would enable my headset and disable my speakers and vice versa. However, there is no option, I have chcked for Disconnected and Disabled devices and still no luck, it's not a USB but more just pink and green colour coded jacks?
- All updates for GPU and Soundcard aswell as Windows are up to date.
- The mic is working and is being picked up.
When I turned my laptop on for the first time, it installed Windows 8 automatically, which made me think there is a hidden volume somewhere on the hard drive. I listed all the volumes using DiskPart utility and it showed me some hidden ones, as expected. What I want to do now is to explore the hidden volumes' contents, and retrieve the drivers from there if possible. But the problem is, I don't know how to list the contents of those volumes. I could've used DIR command if they were accessible through the letters, but unfortunately they don't have any letters associated with them. how I can list the contents of the hidden volumes.

How do I add a website that will open in the 'Favourites' list in File Explorer? In the Home title, if I go to the 'New' section & click on 'New Folder' & type in the website address, that won't open at the desired site. I can open a website & right click & select 'Add to Favourites' ok, but that goes in the list of 'Favourites' on a website.

Provide a list of Input Locales for Windows 8?
Or know any changes of the Input Locales compared to 7?

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy main PC is a desktop running Windows 7 and my homegroup was set up on this PC. I have a laptop running Windows 8 and joined the homegroup - seemingly successfully as the control panel indicates that it is in the group.
On the W7 desktop. The homegroup icon lists the laptop and allows me to access the laptop files. The network icon lists both the desktop and the laptop. I could also access the laptop files this way, but do not need to as I can access them via the homegroup icon.
On the Windows 8 laptop. The homegroup icon just lists the laptop user name and then the laptop itself. The desktop is not listed. The network icon lists both the laptop and the desktop. This allows me to access the desktop files, but I would prefer to access them via the the homegroup icon.
Windows 8.1. I built a new computer yesterday, and installed Windows 8.1. I had previously run Windows 7 on my older computer.
Everything was working great, till today I decided to move my documents, pictures, music, and video folders to a different drive. I succeeded fine with documents, music, and video, however pictures seem to be a little messed up.
see the below screenshot:
At the top, you will see it lists folders for music twice, both folders show my music files in them. I realize these are probably just pointers to the music folder, but now I have music twice, and pictures is not up there.
However, when I check to show libraries in the navigation pane, you will on the same screen shot, it does list documents, music, pictures, and video there as it should.
How I can get those folders back up at the top as they should be?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had ubuntu within my windows 7 earlier. Later when i installed windows 8, i formatted the partition ( E: ) in which ubuntu was installed, since the wubi uninstaller was not working. Still when i start my system, it shows ubuntu listed in the boot list. I tried to load it once. It gave an error. There is no error when i select the default windows 8.
Now i checked the boot option in the msconfig as per the thread, but only windows 8 is listed there, no ubuntu. But still it is listed in the boot menu. I tried the disk manager, the only partition without NTFS file system is the one with status "healthy (OEM partition)". I dont know whether its a ubuntu partition. And there is no option to delete it also. No other ubuntu partition. I want to remove the ubuntu boot option from my os list. How to do it?
