Cannot Copy / Paste With Windows Explorer
Nov 15, 2012Copy menu works ok, but unable to paste because it throws me back briefly to the Metro window. This behavior doesn't work consistently but I have to log out and back in in order to correct it. Even reboot doesn't work.
Note: this is the File Explorer, not the internet browser.
Slow Copy / Paste On Windows 8?
Nov 3, 2012 Windows 7 doesn't have this issue.
I'm using a Intel 520 SSD (the ssd has all OK SMART, almost empty, and no background programs running).
For example when i copy-paste a small folder on the SAME SSD but on different locations, let's say 50mb, (or some files 50-70-30mb) everytime i see the copy window appearing, says copying, etc.
And on Windows 7 on the same files copy-paste, that procedure was instant, no window appearing that says copying.
And even a 360kb file opens the copying window. I have a 3770k 4.5ghz, 8gb ram, 680gtx.
So it's related to Windows 8, due to no updates to improve performance ?
Copy / Paste In Windows Explorer Not Working?
Nov 26, 2012I can't use the native Windows 8 copy/paste. Copy works, but when I paste, I get the "waiting" cursor, then get dumped to the Metro screen. So far, the only way I can move or copy things is with CFiShellToys or TeraCopy, and I installed these only after the Native Windows 8 Copy/Paste kept failing.
I've already run SFC at the command prompt, and according the the results, all is well.
I checked the Event log, and here it is.

Not Able To Copy And Paste URL
Oct 11, 2013I have windows 8 - I had created a doc on facebook and find that I can not paste URLs into this document.
I have tried using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 and now Firefox.
Eventually I managed to copy on all 3 servers but I could not paste into my document using any of them.
I have now got it to work on Firefox (after several goes)but Google Chrome is my main server (it works better for the things I do), and I believe it is a W8 issue, so how to paste URLs using W8?
Clipboard (No Copy And Paste) When Remotely Connected From Windows 7 To 8?
Apr 5, 2013When remoting from a Windows 7 machine to a Windows 8 machine copy and paste do not function. I restarted the RDPClip service on both machines, this can be replicated on multiple machines (this is in work environment).
We are going to be deploying Windows 8 company-wide once we get little issues such as this sorted out. I'm curious whether something changed that might need to be implemented with our group policy. We did not have an issue with this before so it's definitely specific to OS.

Jun 23, 2014I had to re-install Windows 8 and now when I select an article from IE on the desktop I can't Copy/Paste it either to Documents or a flash drive. There's no 'paste' on one and it's greyed out on the other. I have looked in past posts no luck.

Nov 6, 2013I use to be able to copy ad paste but no longer can. I have treed with both MSIE 11 and Firefox 25. MSIE 11 does not work at all. With FF I found a work around by copying then at the site clicking on a little box that says Word or Plain Text. I then cv it and the message appears in this little box. it says it cannot work with my browser. Lastly I ok the little box and the message appears in the dialogue box it was meant to be in, in the first place.

Feb 3, 2014Word had worked well in Windows 7, but now, after I moved to Windows 8.1 almost everything is messed up. Most annoying thing is the copy-paste function. When I try to copy something, it can't be copied to the clipboard and some weird cursor appears when I click where to paste. When I try to cut, the string is saved in clipboard and it works fine.
Also, when I run Word in safe mode, all the functions work fine (even copy-paste).
What should I do? I tried Office Diagnostics, but it shows 0 errors.

Feb 25, 2014I have got my Acer Iconia W700 and it is good.
But i have 1 problem that i am trying build a Tablet News website on Weebly and when i drag and drop text or other element in the website it is good but when i touch on the text it goes straight to the text editor instead of the bar where you can delete or move and copy the text element and i can't do it because i want to delete the text element and it is getting annoying and it happens with most elements as well.
I tried using it with my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7 pen to get to the bar of the element to delete/copy/move the element but it is the same.
Is there a mouse method on the Acer Iconia W700 because i think that would be better selecting without going to the text editor like the text element and goes to the bar(move/delete) elements in my website.

Feb 2, 2014I have a touch screen monitor on my windows 8 machine. It works fine but I have this issue. Every morning when booting PC, I have to disconnect the monitor USB cable and reconnect for the touch screen to work.
If I reboot the PC at any point after this it is fine works no problem, it just happens when pc has been left off over night.
In device manager set all usb hubs to not switch off power but can't think of anything else to do.

Mar 3, 2014Just got a new laptop which came with windows 8, It's an Asus Zenbook UX302LG. I tried Windows 8 a bit during the developer preview, but I'm really not that familiar with things, anywho. So this has a touch screen, and I've been using it a fair bit, but I'm curious about 8.1. Being the "newer" version", from what I've seen it has some improvements over regular 8 in some areas, like the apps screen looks a little tidier.
What I'm wondering though is does it also remove some of the touch features I would be using with a touch screen? Or just make them more mouse friendly. Long story short, given I have a touch screen which I am using, should I upgrade to Windows 8.1? Or will I have a better experience with regular 8?

Jan 3, 2014My touch screen to my Aspire R7 laptop is no longer working. I got a notification about there not being enough power reaching the USB port, and it stopped working after that. I'm not connected to the internet, so it's not a bad update, but I don't know what the problem is, or how to fix it. When I go to PC Info, it says "No pen or touch input is available for this display" which I know is not true because I've been using it's touch screen the entire time I've had it.
a common problem is that the drivers aren't updated. I don't think this is my problem as I haven't installed any updates today (I haven't been connected to the internet) and it's been working fine prior to just now.
The battery is fully charged (and was at 50% when I got the notification), so the power shouldn't be an issue.

Touch Screen Is Reversed?
Jan 31, 2013Installed it on a Fusion Garage JooJoo tablet that has a Intel Atom N270 cpu, Nvidia ION graphics, 128gb SSD, and 4gb memory. I have everything working on it accept for the accelorometer and the touch screen is reversed (i touch the top right and it touches the bottom left).
I've tried calibrating it through windows and all that does is cause the touch input to go completely crazy. I have tried multiple drivers and the only one that even remotely works is the eGalax driver but that causes the touch screen to be seen as a mouse which makes the swipe gestures impossible as well as the built in touch keyboard won't come up anymore.
I'm not worried about the accelorometer as I can just change the orientation in the nvidia control panel if need be. However having a tablet without a fully functional touch screen is pretty much useless.
The touch screen shows up in Device Manager as an HID device.

Aug 29, 2014I would like to put a touch screen out in an open lobby area with an program running on it, but i would like to lock the screen so if anyone touches the screen to make changes to the program they would have to enter a password, the screen will be on 24/7.
the program will be updating data continually.

Apr 19, 2014 I think this may relate to updating this netbook from Win 8 to 8.1 (but I updated very soon after purchasing so not certain). Basically after several minutes of use, the Touchscreen doesn't respond to touch anymore. I can still use trackpad but no touchscreen.
I have installed latest updates (and drivers from Lenovo site), but still no joy. I've also tried recalibrating touch screen (via Control Panel app) but this hasn't worked (and "reset" option is greyed out).

Nov 27, 2012I have a Thinkpad X61 Tablet. It was running Windows 7 Ultimate before I upgraded to Windows 8 Pro. When I invoked the Touch Keyboard in Desktop mode, the window would automatically resize as I type (i.e. window on top, keyboard below). However, this weekend I performed a clean install of Windows 8 since I wasn't happy with some of the quirks from an upgrade. Now, I can no longer get the automatic screen resize when I initiate the Touch Keyboard (i.e. window stays behind keyboard, making it hard to see what I am typing). Are there settings I need to change? Is it something that was carried over from Windows 7 during my upgrade but I deleted it with my clean install?
Update: Just figured out how to get the automatic resize. You have to maximize the Touch Keyboard. I guess I must have been using it in maximized form without realizing it.

Feb 25, 2014I cannot get the touch keyboard or picture password to come up consistently at logon screen. I had to go to services to make the touch-service work with desktop and logon (it was unchecked). Now, at fresh start-up or restart I can get the keyboard by touch but will not get it again if I log off and log back on. And under no conditions do I get the picture password option although I have a picture set up for it.
