I had to re-install Windows 8 and now when I select an article from IE on the desktop I can't Copy/Paste it either to Documents or a flash drive. There's no 'paste' on one and it's greyed out on the other. I have looked in past posts no luck.
View 3 RepliesI use to be able to copy ad paste but no longer can. I have treed with both MSIE 11 and Firefox 25. MSIE 11 does not work at all. With FF I found a work around by copying then at the site clicking on a little box that says Word or Plain Text. I then cv it and the message appears in this little box. it says it cannot work with my browser. Lastly I ok the little box and the message appears in the dialogue box it was meant to be in, in the first place.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have windows 8 - I had created a doc on facebook and find that I can not paste URLs into this document.
I have tried using Google Chrome, Internet Explorer 8 and now Firefox.
Eventually I managed to copy on all 3 servers but I could not paste into my document using any of them.
I have now got it to work on Firefox (after several goes)but Google Chrome is my main server (it works better for the things I do), and I believe it is a W8 issue, so how to paste URLs using W8?
Copy menu works ok, but unable to paste because it throws me back briefly to the Metro window. This behavior doesn't work consistently but I have to log out and back in in order to correct it. Even reboot doesn't work.
Note: this is the File Explorer, not the internet browser.
Windows 7 doesn't have this issue.
I'm using a Intel 520 SSD (the ssd has all OK SMART, almost empty, and no background programs running).
For example when i copy-paste a small folder on the SAME SSD but on different locations, let's say 50mb, (or some files 50-70-30mb) everytime i see the copy window appearing, says copying, etc.
And on Windows 7 on the same files copy-paste, that procedure was instant, no window appearing that says copying.
And even a 360kb file opens the copying window. I have a 3770k 4.5ghz, 8gb ram, 680gtx.
So it's related to Windows 8, due to no updates to improve performance ?
I can't use the native Windows 8 copy/paste. Copy works, but when I paste, I get the "waiting" cursor, then get dumped to the Metro screen. So far, the only way I can move or copy things is with CFiShellToys or TeraCopy, and I installed these only after the Native Windows 8 Copy/Paste kept failing.
I've already run SFC at the command prompt, and according the the results, all is well.
I checked the Event log, and here it is.

Recently I took sony vio labtop with touch screen. How can i do copy & paste for text by using touch screen only.
O.S : Windows 8.1
Word had worked well in Windows 7, but now, after I moved to Windows 8.1 almost everything is messed up. Most annoying thing is the copy-paste function. When I try to copy something, it can't be copied to the clipboard and some weird cursor appears when I click where to paste. When I try to cut, the string is saved in clipboard and it works fine.
Also, when I run Word in safe mode, all the functions work fine (even copy-paste).
What should I do? I tried Office Diagnostics, but it shows 0 errors.
When remoting from a Windows 7 machine to a Windows 8 machine copy and paste do not function. I restarted the RDPClip service on both machines, this can be replicated on multiple machines (this is in work environment).
We are going to be deploying Windows 8 company-wide once we get little issues such as this sorted out. I'm curious whether something changed that might need to be implemented with our group policy. We did not have an issue with this before so it's definitely specific to OS.

I cannot copy images from Chrome/Firefox, Internet Explorer works fine however.
Copying text from all browsers also works fine, the problem is just images.
I bought a cheap Gateway, downloaded Firefox and got all kinds of junk with it. I ended up returning the Gateway for a better computer a ASUS and I've installed everything but Firefox. I'm scared to download it. Last time it took me 3 hrs plus virus and malware scans to get rid of all the junk that came with it.
Where and how I can get a clean copy of Firefox browser?
I also downloaded "open office" and got even more junk. Now with this new computer which I love, I don't want any of that junk.
Any easy way to copy URL links in Internet Explorer? In Chrome I just right click on a picture like in Farmville and I get the option to copy LINK URL or IMAGE URL. Can you do that in IE too? Chrome is my favorite but I've been having trouble with it in Farmville.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFrom the desktop I click on the IE in the taskbar box and it loads and loads then says "this page can NOT be displayed" I then rebooted, and from the start screen I click on the e tile for IE and Bing comes up perfect with bookmarks, and all the frills. I then closed it and tried to get back to Bing by clicking on the IE box in taskbar on the desktop and nothing "this page can NOT be displayed" again. I then went to the start screen clicked on the Bing tile and it loads, but no bookmarks or frills. I then came to this site from there. The screenshot will NOT work in the "this page cannot be displayed" page. Google works fine.
I installed the MS updates yesterday, that's all I have done to this computer. It WILL take a screenshot of the desktop, and it WILL take a screenshot when I am in Google.

I bought a Dell 17r laptop a couple days ago and about an hour ago my IE 10 Metro switched to desktop when I clicked it, and now it wont switch back to metro! ive reset the IE TWICE now and nothing worked, I've tried multiple solutions and NOTHING has work(obviously) the desktop version is ugly.

I select a photo, right click it & choose: 'Send to'>'Mail recipient', an 'Attach files' dialog box opens, I choose the picture size I want & click 'Attach', another box opens captioned 'Email Client selection', I select 'Use System Default'>OK. Mail opens up.
The heading of the email folder reads: Emailing: (Caption/Title of the photo) in blue colouring. No copy of picture selected. I send it to myself. It comes back in the 'Inbox' with the same sentence in blue, (but still no picture). I try to click on the blue caption. Nothing. I highlight it, it only gives me the privilege of Copying the caption. How do I send a photo from Pictures in the File Explorer?
IE11 does not run in desktop mode except with add-ons disabled. IE11 from Metro page works with no problems.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIf I select a photo from 'Pictures' in File Explorer', right click & select 'Send to: Mail recipient', Mail opens up but only the title of the photo is shown as an attachment, no picture. Even if I click on the title nothing happens. This is the same in 'Outlook' or 'Gmail'. I can send a picture attachment ok by clicking on the 'paperclip' in 'Mail' which then takes me to 'Photos' but I would like to send it from the File Explorer.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded my laptop to Win 8.1 a few days ago and everything seemed to be working fine. I ran into an issue today using the desktop version of IE 11 where I can type text into the address bar but if I select a field on a web page, I am not able to type text into it. I normally use FireFox as my browser and it works fine (as does Chrome). If I bring up the Metro version of IE 11, I can enter text fine.
It's not a big deal since I rarely use IE but it bugs me now that I know about it. I just checked on a netbook I upgraded and don't see the issue there.
My desktop icons/links to Facebook, Ebay, Google, Emails, etc, all worked yesterday, now none will work. I get a pop-up error message displaying the link and stating "unspecified error".

How can I pin this modern browser to my desktop, or taskbar (down there y'know) as a shortcut?
I've been reading some threads that say
- it CANNOT be done,
other threads that say:
- IT CAN be done with some Registry Editing or something,
and some say
- it CAN be done with Metro App link (I tested it, great app but won't include Explorer)
Is it possible to do it with regedit? And if so, I'd like to know how and what is the exact path to create a shortcut (I'm not THAT good with reg editing)
